How much does the 2022 Kia Sorento cost?

Prices have softened 13.27% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,167 listings available, which suggests a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Kia Sorento a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Kia Sorento earns a 4.7/5 user rating and an 8.7/10 expert rating. The model scores 10/10 across Look and feel and Cost effectiveness.

Owners consistently praise its modern design, spacious interior, and family-friendly features. The Sorento also gets credit for strong performance and fuel economy in the right powertrain choices.

The trade-offs are clear: the base engine is underwhelming, and the third row is cramped. It fits you best if you want a stylish midsize three-row SUV with a strong feature set and broad family appeal.

With 37.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still offers some attractive opportunities.

Is the 2022 Kia Sorento reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners describe it as modern, family-friendly, and satisfying to live with over time, with praise for its spacious interior and useful features. The expert review also points to the Sorento’s generous warranty and solid build quality as ownership positives.

The Sorento’s dependable appeal is reinforced by its strong overall quality and the sense that it is built to hold up well in daily use. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is choosing a poorly equipped or neglected example that doesn’t match the model’s stronger trims and powertrains.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Kia Sorento?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the vehicle history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example. Focus on overall condition, trim-specific equipment, and whether the features you want are actually present on the listing you’re viewing.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LX trim is the most stripped-down version, while higher trims add more comfort, style, and equipment. The X-Line treatment adds rugged styling, a lifted suspension, and standard AWD, and the SX Prestige brings a more comfortable driver’s seat and heated second-row captain’s chairs.
• Powertrain: The standard 191-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder is the weakest choice and is paired with LX and S trims. The turbocharged 2.5-liter, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid options are the stronger choices if you want better performance or efficiency.
• Safety package: Kia Drive Wise is standard, but its contents vary by trim. The suite includes rear-seat reminder, Junction Assist, Intelligent Speed Limit Assist, and Highway Driving Assist, while Blind View Monitor is exclusive to the SX Prestige X-Line.
• Infotainment: The base LX keeps an 8-inch touchscreen, while other trims get a standard 10.25-inch touchscreen with navigation, satellite radio, Kia Connect services, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Wireless smartphone integration is on the base system, while the larger screen requires a USB connection.
• Fuel efficiency: The Sorento Hybrid is rated at 35 mpg to 37 mpg in combined driving, and the Sorento Plug-in Hybrid can travel 32 miles on electricity before returning 34 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2022 Kia Sorento trim should I buy?

The 2022 Kia Sorento is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, S, EX, SX Prestige.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, but it’s also the most basic version, with the standard 8-inch infotainment system and the underwhelming base engine. It makes sense only if your priority is the lowest starting price.
• S: This trim is the first step up from LX and is a better fit if you want a more complete everyday Sorento without jumping too far up the price ladder. It’s the trim where the X-Line package becomes available, which adds a more distinctive look and standard AWD when equipped that way.
• EX: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it unlocks the stronger turbocharged engine and adds more convenience features, including wireless smartphone charging. If you want the Sorento to feel genuinely satisfying to drive, this is the trim to target.
• SX Prestige: This is the most upscale version, with the most comfort and technology content, including the more comfortable driver’s seat, heated second-row captain’s chairs, and the Blind View Monitor when paired with X-Line. It suits you best if you want the Sorento’s most premium experience.

Kia Drive Wise is standard across the lineup, but feature content varies by trim.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Kia Sorento?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and deal activity to make comparison shopping worthwhile.

• Deal availability: 37.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,167 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.27% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 84.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $22,924, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Kia Sorento's resale value?

The current average of $22,924 sits slightly below last year's $26,433.

That decline suggests the Sorento has become more affordable for used buyers, which can make it easier to move if you price it competitively later. A softer market today can also mean future resale depends more on condition, mileage, and trim desirability than on broad market momentum.

If you buy well and keep the vehicle in strong shape, you may be better positioned when it’s time to sell. Higher-demand trims and cleaner history examples should hold up better than basic or heavily used versions.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Kia Sorento safe?

The 2022 Sorento earns a Top Safety Pick from IIHS and a four-star overall crash-test rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Kia Drive Wise is standard, and the package includes rear-seat reminder, Junction Assist, Intelligent Speed Limit Assist, and Highway Driving Assist. Blind View Monitor is reserved for the SX Prestige X-Line, so some of the most advanced safety tech is trim-dependent.

The main caveat is that the headlights on most trims do not match the top-rated units found on the SX and SX Prestige trims.

Should I buy a 2022 Kia Sorento or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 37.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.27% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 brings the X-Line package to more trims and makes the 10.25-inch infotainment system standard on most versions.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $19,974, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $22,924 average.
• It’s a redesigned three-row SUV that feels like a strong all-around choice.

The bottom line: Choose the 2022 if you want the broader feature availability and updated equipment mix. If your priority is saving money, the 2021 is the better value path.
