Used 2022 Kia Niro EV for Sale near Atlanta, GA
The Kia Niro EV was introduced in 2019 to complete the Niro family of fuel-efficient subcompact crossovers, none of which are powered by gasoline alone. For 2022, Niros are largely carry-over models, and as such, they receive minimal year-over-year changes. The most notable updates are new badging and more standard technology and safety features.
Following Kia’s new brand marketing direction, the 2022 Niro EV now sports the South Korean automaker’s new stylized logo on its front grille, tailgate, wheel center caps, and steering wheel hub. The Niro EV continues to be offered in EX and EX Premium trims, which are the higher-equipped models for the lineup.
Standard features include 17-inch alloy wheels, cloth-and-leatherette upholstery, LED headlights and daytime running lights, a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats, automatic climate control, and a smart key with push-button start.
Newly standard for 2022 is a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen, which includes navigation, UVO link, SiriusXM satellite radio, and a Harman Kardon premium sound system. Previously, EX models were equipped with an 8-inch touchscreen. Wireless device charging is also now standard on the Niro EV. The EX Premium adds LED taillights, a power sunroof, adjustable cabin mood lighting, LED interior overhead lamps, leatherette trim, ventilated front seats, and a cargo cover.
Powered by a 64-kilowatt-hour battery, the all-electric Niro offers 201 horsepower and 239 pound-feet of torque. The range is EPA-estimated at 239 miles on a full charge, but driving performance and mileage can be adjusted utilizing the available drive modes (Eco, Eco+, Normal, and Sport). The Niro EV is available in a front-wheel-drive configuration only; all-wheel drive is not an option.
When connected to a Level 2 charger, which is the standard system installed at residential properties and also commonly found at free public stations, the Niro EV will take 9.5 hours to reach an 80% battery charge. Utilizing a 50-kW DC fast charger, however, will decrease that time significantly, to 1 hour and 15 minutes. Using the 100-kW variety will shave charging time down by another 15 minutes.
The 2022 Niro EV also offers a long list of standard driver-assistance technologies, which Kia bundles under the DriveWise moniker. The package includes forward collision-avoidance with pedestrian and cyclist detection, a pedestrian warning system, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane keep assist, driver attention warning, lane following assist, high beam assist, and rear occupant alert. Previously reserved for EX Premium models, navigation-based adaptive cruise control, which adjusts for curves as well as stop-and-go traffic, is now standard. Reverse parking distance warning, however, is still an EX Premium exclusive.
The 2022 Niro EX starts at $39,990—an increase of $900. But the EX Premium starting MSRP remains unchanged at $44,650. The only available factory-installed package for either trim is a Cold Weather Package priced at $1,100. This adds a battery heater, heat pump, and heated steering wheel.
4.5 Overall rating
(4 reviews)Great car, everything I need. It has lots of buttons and options that Ill never use, but the basics of it work well as a point a to b electric vehicle.
Compact cars are usually cheaply made. Not this one. It is smooth, quiet with no sqeaks inside. The doors are heavy and make a solid thud when closed. Smart cruise is not quite as good as Ye 291 lb ft of torque makes this pretty quick too especially for only having 1 electric motor. Very efficient and has great real world range. Can easily get claimed 239 miles and more if you dont floor it all the time.
We absolutely love this car. The only thing I’d change, and it’s the reason I’m not giving five stars, the center console for drinks is a design disaster. Let’s see how many drinks get spilled trying to reach into the awkward tight space. Practically have to lift near the lids. Functional failure.
First off, I went from a 2009 Toyota Rav 4 to this. I will say that I do love this car. Going from a 4WD to a FWD was tough. I do miss the way my 4WD grips the road. I definitely want to switch to an AWD vehicle after this. The inside is actually very nice and I like it a lot. It feels pretty premium considering it’s not a luxury vehicle. The auto drive features like lane assist and break assist, other features are nice. It lets me know when at a stop, if the lead vehicle in front of me is leaving ; it also has collision control so alerts me if I’m going to fast and may have an accident and not have enough time to break; I’ve heard it breaks upon impact but have not tested this!! I lost love the blind spot assist feature… if I’m trying to switch lanesit will beep and let me know when objects and cars are near me on the side back or front, (helps a lot for parking). Another great feature is the wireless charger, I love this! . I will say the maps feature for the car sometimes is off on directions. But the plus side to this is you can use google maps or any maps on your phone and do CarPlay if your usb is plugged in. I also appreciate the heated steering wheel, seats, and when you have the rear defrost on it also heats up your outer side mirrors and I love that for cold mornings! Really comes in handing, no more wiping!! lol . At first I thought the heated steering wheel was gimmicky, but I actually use it every morning when it’s super cold ,it just adds that extra comfort when you’re first getting in the car and really makes a difference. I drove an LX version of this same make model of car and the speakers in the premium version are insanely better and give more bass and full bodied sound than the LX. I haven’t yet found the option to adjust the bass and such though. Maybe it has it or maybe that’s lacking which is a bummer if it is. To be honest going from a RAV4 trunk space to this, it hasn’t affected me too much! I feel yes, there’s less space, but for a smaller SUV it actually is alright. It fits enough and it has a shelf thing that pulls out so you can stack on top of the trunk inside too (this will block your back window though). Of course if you store a lot of stuff this may be a downsize for you I will say it’s enough space for 8 or more grocery bags, a you’re groceries and more will fit. It’s enough to fit your dog, a stroller or even two at that. A car seat would fit also. So it’s enough for the average person . The car actually is very roomy inside and it doesn’t feel cramped for passengers. Let’s talk range. The rang is genuinely good! For my regular work commute (I work local to my town) it’s about 8 minutes one way. But I also drive to clients houses and can go up to 25 minutes out of the way 3-4 towns away, so 20+ miles one way. Plus small store trips or errands in the week. I only need to charge 1-2 x a week! If I have a couple longer routes, I may charge twice weekly but most weeks I only charge Saturdays! This has cut out SO much expenses. I spend maybe 15-25$ a week charging. 14-18$ if 1/week and 20-25$ if 2/week. Compare that to spending 25-30$ every 2 days on gas like I was! I was spending 90$ a week on gas at the very least. It ended up being easily 250-350$ a month on gas and when it was 5-6$ a gallon even more! I struggled to pay for gas it was hard, only putting 20$ in my tank each time. Switching to EV and having the Niro with a range of about 250 miles or higher on a 100% is fantastic. Of course the charging, other features can drain your battery more, I did notice when I would charge 2 phones, especially the wireless charger, it would eat up my range much quicker. So I’d say don’t charge unless you have to, and especially the wireless it eats much more than other ports. Another tip, keep your display off when you can, a great battery saver! Yes there’s better range out there but this is plenty for someone who does mild-medium commutes and errands. And even if you drive much more, you’re still paying a LOT less than if it was a gas vehicle. If you’re someone who drives 50-150 miles per day, this still could be a good investment for you. But expect to charge 3 times a week at least. For me, it’s no big deal. I spend a lot of time just browsing the internet anyways, so spending 25-45 mins charging, no biggie. I sometimes just get work done or shop or run an errand if I can. That brings me to one of my last points, YES this car can work for you, or an EV similar to this one’s range CAN work for you if you don’t own HOME charging! I do not own home charging. I’m an apartment dweller. This is 100% doable for me. I live in California in the Bay Area. Hustle and bustle, traffic, spaced out cities, and this works for me! 1 or 2x at most charging a week. About 70 minutes of my time. It usually takes only 40 minutes to charge to 80% and fyi, you rarely want to charge about 80% to keep your battery healthy. Last points… Ilove the charcoal color of my Niro too. It’s got the new Kia logo which is awesome. Yes I can say I wish I could’ve afforded the 2023 version but hey, this is a great car for the price, it’s nice inside and out, it has a premium feel. Not quite luxury, but it’s above average for the interior. Speakers are 3.9/5 maybe 4. (I am snobby with sound so, my JBL were better in my fav 4. ) The ease of use in the navigation and the tech in the car I’d give a 3/5 because some of it is a little less intuitive, and maps isn’t the best. But it doesn’t crash so that’s a plus. Safety features and lane assist all that are 5/5 color/style of car 4.5/5, the drive of the car is smooth and. How the driving experience is I’d give a 4/5 , overall score I’d say final score, I’d give it a solid 3.9 /5 it’s definitely a nice car and I can be happy with it for many years and it’s reliable!!
