How much does the 2022 Kia K5 cost?

Prices have softened 8.69% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,304 listings available, which suggests you should have a solid range of choices.

Is the 2022 Kia K5 a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Kia K5 earns a 4.7/5 user rating and a 7.8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Safety.

Drivers consistently praise its stylish design, comfortable ride, and strong value for money. The review summary also points to smooth handling and good fuel efficiency as recurring positives.

On the downside, experts note fairly pedestrian performance and an unimpressive voice recognition system. That said, the K5 is framed as a stylish, comfortable midsize sedan for buyers who want value in a shrinking segment, and 36.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

Is the 2022 Kia K5 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user review summary points to a car that many drivers find dependable in everyday use, with praise centered on its value, comfort, and smooth driving character. The expert evaluation also describes the K5 as a good-value sedan with ownership perks that support confidence over time.

Kia’s warranty coverage adds another layer of reassurance for used buyers, including five-year/60,000-mile basic coverage and 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain protection. For a used purchase, the main long-term risk is less about the core package and more about making sure the specific car was maintained and equipped as advertised.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Kia K5?

At 71.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. A pre-purchase inspection is worth prioritizing, especially if you’re considering a higher-trim car with more equipment and more systems to verify.

Focus on condition, feature operation, and whether the car matches the advertised equipment list. Pay close attention to infotainment behavior, driver-assistance features, and any signs of uneven wear that could hint at harder use.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: LX and LXS are the simplest versions, while GT-Line, EX, and GT add more equipment and a more upscale feel. The GT-Line and EX bring more features, and the GT is the performance-oriented choice.
• Powertrain: The standard turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder is the main engine for most trims, while the GT uses a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder with much more power. The standard setup is tuned for usable everyday response rather than outright speed.
• Safety package: Kia Drive Wise includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and lane-following assist. Higher equipment levels add features such as Highway Driving Assist, navigation-based adaptive cruise control, surround-view monitoring, and parking sensors.
• Infotainment: LX and LXS use an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. GT-Line and above move to a 10.25-inch screen, but wired phone integration is required there.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert evaluation cites 31 mpg in combined driving for the EX, and the performance discussion notes that the GT is the least efficient version.

Which 2022 Kia K5 trim should I buy?

The 2022 Kia K5 is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, LXS, GT-Line, EX, and GT.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the simplest entry point, and it gives you the K5’s core style and value without extra frills. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the lineup and can live without the larger screen and added convenience features.
• LXS: This trim adds a bit more flexibility, including the option for all-wheel drive. It’s a smart pick if you want a more practical daily driver without jumping too far up the price ladder.
• GT-Line: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds more visual presence and more available equipment while staying below the upper trims. If you want a nicer-feeling K5 without paying for the top-end models, this is the one to focus on.
• EX: This trim leans into comfort and convenience, with a more upscale cabin feel and more advanced tech available through packages. It suits you best if you want a more polished commuter with extra amenities.
• GT: Choose this if you want the strongest performance in the lineup. It’s the enthusiast pick, but it also comes with the highest price and the least efficiency.

The safety package is especially strong across the lineup, and higher trims add even more advanced driver-assistance features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Kia K5?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 36.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,304 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.69% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 71.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $19,656, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Kia K5's resale value?

The current average of $19,657 sits slightly below last year's $21,527.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at the right price, you reduce the chance of taking a big depreciation hit later.

The K5’s strong value story and broad appeal should help it remain marketable, especially if you choose a well-equipped trim in good condition. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Kia K5 safe?

The 2022 Kia K5 earns Top Safety Pick+ recognition from IIHS and an overall five-star crash-test rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Kia Drive Wise includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and lane-following assist. Higher trims and packages add Highway Driving Assist, navigation-based adaptive cruise control, surround-view monitoring, front and rear parking sensors, automatic rear braking, cyclist detection, and Junction Turning Assist.

One caveat is that some of the lane-keeping behavior can be a little too eager on rough pavement, and the curve-control feature is not equally helpful in every situation. Even so, the overall safety tech package is a major strength.

Should I buy a 2022 Kia K5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 36.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 71.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.69% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 adds redesigned emblems, upper-trim standard feature gains, and a new Premium package for the GT-Line AWD.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $17,874, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $19,657 average.
• It’s the fresh redesign year with broader style-and-performance appeal.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger current-market value story and the 2022 feature updates, this year makes sense. If your priority is saving money above all else, the 2021 can be the better bargain as long as you’re comfortable giving up some of the 2022’s refinements.

How does the 2022 Kia K5 compare to the 2022 Hyundai Sonata?

Expert Pros & Cons (per CarGurus review team)

2022 Kia K5:

• Pros: Stylish design, Comfortable, Great safety ratings.
• Cons: Fairly pedestrian performance, Unimpressive voice recognition system, Can't match the similar Hyundai Sonata for value.

2022 Hyundai Sonata:

• Pros: Quiet cabin, Standard advanced safety features, Great warranty.
• Cons: Potentially polarizing design, All-wheel drive not available.

Our experts score the 2022 Kia K5 7.8/10 and the 2022 Hyundai Sonata 8/10. The K5 is the more style-forward choice, while the Sonata edges it on overall value and gets the higher expert score. The K5 counters with stronger safety praise and a more distinctive look, but the Sonata’s quieter cabin and standard advanced safety features make it the more well-rounded pick for many shoppers.
