How much does the 2022 Kia K5 cost?

Prices have softened 9.43% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,351 listings available, which suggests you should have a workable range of choices.

Is the 2022 Kia K5 a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Kia K5 earns a 4.73/5 user rating and a 7.83/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Safety.

Drivers consistently praise its stylish design, comfortable ride, and strong value for money. The review summary also points to smooth handling and impressive fuel efficiency as recurring positives.

The trade-offs are fairly clear: performance is described as pedestrian, and the voice recognition system is unimpressive. The K5 fits best if you want a stylish family sedan with a strong value story rather than a sporty alternative.

With 33.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still offers some attractive opportunities.

Is the 2022 Kia K5 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.73/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The review summary points to a car that feels dependable in daily use, with owners highlighting comfort, value, and a generally satisfying ownership experience. The expert evaluation also describes the K5 as a solid, well-rounded sedan with value-added ownership perks, including a five-year/60,000-mile warranty and separate 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain coverage.

That said, used buyers should still watch for signs of uneven maintenance or feature-related frustrations, since long-term ownership risk is best managed by checking service history and verifying equipment.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Kia K5?

At 73.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. A pre-purchase inspection is worth prioritizing, especially if you’re considering a higher-trim car with more equipment and more systems to verify. Focus on condition, feature operation, and evidence of consistent maintenance rather than just mileage alone.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LX and LXS use the standard 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while GT-Line and above move to a larger 10.25-inch display but require a cable for smartphone mirroring. Higher trims also add more upscale cabin materials and more convenience features.
• Powertrain: Every trim uses a turbocharged engine, with the standard 1.6-liter turbo delivering 180 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque. The GT upgrades to a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 290 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque, while the standard setup is tuned for smoother everyday power delivery.
• Safety package: Kia Drive Wise includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and lane-following assist. Higher equipment levels add cyclist detection, Junction Turning Assist, navigation-based adaptive cruise control, Highway Driving Assist with lane-centering assist, front and rear parking sensors, automatic rear braking, and a surround-view monitoring system.
• Infotainment: The base system uses an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. GT-Line and above get a 10.25-inch screen, satellite radio, Kia Connect services, a Wi-Fi hotspot, navigation, and a wireless smartphone charger on most trims.
• Fuel efficiency: The K5 EX is rated at 31 mpg in combined driving, and the GT is described as the least efficient version of the lineup.

Which 2022 Kia K5 trim should I buy?

The 2022 Kia K5 is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, LXS, GT-Line, EX, GT.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the simplest way into the K5, and it gives you the standard turbo engine plus the 8-inch touchscreen with wireless smartphone integration. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost entry point and can live without the extra polish found higher up.
• LXS: This trim adds the same core setup as the LX but is one of the trims that can be paired with AWD, which may matter if you want extra traction. It’s a sensible step up if winter driving is a priority.
• GT-Line: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it brings the larger 10.25-inch screen, more tech, and a more upscale presentation, while still offering AWD. It’s the trim to target if you want the strongest mix of style, features, and everyday usefulness.
• EX: This is the comfort-focused pick, with a more upscale cabin and available Premium package content that adds surround-view camera capability and parking aids. Choose it if you care more about convenience and refinement than sporty character.
• GT: This is the performance trim, with the 290-horsepower turbocharged 2.5-liter engine and dual-clutch automatic transmission. Buy it only if you specifically want the most power, since it is also the most expensive and least efficient version.

The safety package is especially strong on higher trims, where Kia Drive Wise expands with more advanced driver-assistance features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Kia K5?

This is a moderate market, so you can shop selectively without expecting a deep buyer’s market.

• Deal availability: 33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,351 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.43% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 73.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $19,913, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Kia K5's resale value?

The current average of $19,913 sits slightly below last year's $21,985.

That price movement suggests the K5 has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future resale stability if you buy at the right price. For you, that means the biggest hit may already be behind the car, especially if you choose a well-kept example with desirable equipment.

A trim with strong features and broad appeal should be easier to move later than a less popular configuration. Condition, mileage, and documented maintenance will matter a lot if you want to protect your exit value.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.73/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Kia K5 safe?

The 2022 Kia K5 earns the highest possible safety rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS)—Top Safety Pick+. It also earns an overall five-star crash-test rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Kia Drive Wise includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and lane-following assist. Higher trims and packages add cyclist detection, Junction Turning Assist, navigation-based adaptive cruise control, Highway Driving Assist with lane-centering assist, front and rear parking sensors, automatic rear braking, and a surround-view monitoring system.

One caveat is that the lane-keeping system can misread pavement scars, and the curve-control feature is helpful only in some situations. Even so, the overall safety tech package is a major strength.

Should I buy a 2022 Kia K5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 73.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.43% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.73/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds redesigned emblems, upper-trim standard feature gains, and an available Premium package with Highway Driving Assist and adaptive cruise control for curves.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $18,193, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $19,913 average.
• It offers a fresh redesign with more style and speed.

The bottom line: If you want the better-balanced buy, the 2022 is the safer pick because it combines strong safety, solid satisfaction, and a softer price trend. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2021 is the value alternative, especially if you find one in excellent condition.
