Is the 2022 Kia EV6 a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Kia EV6 earns a 4.6/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its stylish design, smooth ride, and powerful performance, and many also like the spacious interior and advanced safety features. The EV6’s appeal is strongest if you want something that feels distinctive, tech-forward, and fun to drive rather than purely practical.

The main trade-offs are its unimpressive electric range and limited cargo space, and the expert review also points to weak value for the money. Even so, the overview frames it as a compelling choice if you want a sporty EV with standout styling and strong tech. With 46.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s meaningful market opportunity if you shop carefully.

Is the 2022 Kia EV6 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback points to a car that feels smooth, powerful, and stylish, while also calling out a pleasant driving experience and advanced safety features. That kind of owner sentiment usually lines up with a vehicle people feel good about living with over time.

The expert review also emphasizes how quickly and effectively the EV6 delivers power, along with its efficient-feeling regenerative braking controls and easy drive-mode changes. Kia also includes useful standard equipment such as fast-charging capability and a heat pump on the tested setup, which supports everyday usability.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is battery-related: range can drop noticeably in cold weather, so you should pay close attention to charging habits and real-world battery condition.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Kia EV6?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.5% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage EV or one that has seen frequent fast charging. Focus on battery health, charging behavior, tire wear, and whether the car’s range matches the seller’s claims in normal driving.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Light trim is the least desirable because it has the small battery pack and undersized single motor, while the Wind and GT-Line bring the larger battery and stronger powertrains. The GT-Line also adds more upscale equipment, and the safety content notes that front parking sensors come on the Wind RWD trim, while the Wind AWD adds automatic rear braking and 360 cameras.
• Powertrain: The EV6 is offered with single-motor and dual-motor setups. The tested dual-motor GT-Line e-AWD makes 320 horsepower and 446 pound-feet of torque, while the single-motor Wind and GT-Line versions use the larger battery with 225 horsepower. The base Light has 167 horsepower and 258 pound-feet, and the review says not to bother with it.
• Safety package: The Highway Driving Assist system is standard on the base Light trim and includes lane-keeping, cyclist and pedestrian detection, front and rear cross-traffic alert, a driver attention monitor, rear parking sensors, safe exit warning, and rear occupant alert. The Wind AWD adds automatic rear braking and 360 cameras, and the GT-Line adds evasive steering assist and more advanced adaptive cruise behavior.
• Infotainment: You get dual 12-inch screens, navigation, a wireless charger, and a quick, easy-to-use interface. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are not included; the projection systems require a wired connection. Higher trims can add a 14-speaker Meridian stereo and remote parking.
• Range & charging: The tested EV6 uses a 77-kilowatt-hour battery, and the review says it can accept up to 240 kW on DC fast charging. In testing, it took 35 minutes to go from 15 to 80 percent at a fast charger. The review also notes a 58 kWh battery on the base Light trim.
• Battery health: On a used EV, ask for battery state-of-health information if available, review charging history, and pay attention to whether the car has been mostly home-charged or heavily DC fast-charged. You should also confirm how much of the battery warranty remains and verify that the car still delivers reasonable range in your climate.

Which 2022 Kia EV6 trim should I buy?

The 2022 Kia EV6 is offered in 4 trim levels: Light, Wind RWD, Wind AWD, GT-Line.

Here's the short version:

• Light: This is the least expensive trim, but it’s also the one the review says you should avoid because of its small battery pack and undersized single motor. It makes sense only if price is your overriding concern.
• Wind RWD: This is the best-value starting point because it moves you into the larger battery and stronger single-motor setup without jumping all the way to the pricier dual-motor versions. It’s the trim to target if you want the EV6 experience without overpaying.
• Wind AWD: Choose this if you want the added traction and the extra safety hardware, including automatic rear braking and 360 cameras. It’s the better pick if you live in tougher weather or want more confidence features.
• GT-Line: This is the most fully featured version in the 2022 lineup, with the dual-motor setup, stronger performance, and more premium tech. It suits you best if you want the EV6 at its most polished and don’t mind paying more for it.

The safety package starts with the base Light trim and expands as you move up the lineup, so higher trims bring meaningful equipment gains beyond styling.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Kia EV6?

The market leans in your favor right now, with solid deal availability and a meaningful amount of inventory to choose from.

• Deal availability: 46.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 644 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.24% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 90.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $20,632, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Kia EV6's resale value?

The current average of $22,961 sits slightly below last year's $24,752.

That decline suggests the EV6 has already moved into a more buyer-friendly pricing zone, which can help future resale if you buy at the right number. For a seller, the key is that the market has softened, so pricing aggressively will matter more than it would have a year ago.

The EV6 still has appeal because it combines distinctive styling, strong tech, and a fun driving character. That helps support demand, especially among shoppers looking for a used EV that feels more premium than its price suggests.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Kia EV6 safe?

The EV6 has no published test results from any government or independent agency in the U.S.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The Highway Driving Assist system is standard on the base Light trim and includes lane-keeping, cyclist and pedestrian detection, front and rear cross-traffic alert, a driver attention monitor, rear parking sensors, safe exit warning, and rear occupant alert. Front parking sensors come on the Wind RWD trim, while the Wind AWD adds automatic rear braking and 360 cameras. The GT-Line adds evasive steering assist and adaptive cruise behavior that attempts to drive more like the driver would.

That means the EV6 brings a strong active-safety toolkit, but you should note that the published crash-test picture is incomplete in the U.S. market.

Should I buy a 2022 Kia EV6 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 46.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.5% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.24% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 stands out as Kia’s first ground-up EV, with standout styling, strong tech, and lively performance.

The bottom line: If you want the EV6’s freshest design and a used price that has already softened, the 2022 is the right place to start. If your priority is broader feature content and a more developed EV package, a newer model year may be worth comparing, but the 2022 remains the better value play for shoppers who care most about style, tech, and driving enjoyment. For price-sensitive buyers, the current market makes this a good year to shop carefully and target the better-equipped trims.
