How much does the 2022 Jeep Wrangler cost?

Prices have softened 11.03% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 8,732 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2022 Jeep Wrangler a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Jeep Wrangler earns a 4.93/5 user rating and a 5.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its iconic design, fun driving experience, and customizable features. They also like the soft top and the off-road performance, which lines up with the Wrangler’s adventurous personality.

The trade-offs are just as clear: poor fuel economy and some basic design choices can be frustrating, and the expert review also points to poor ride quality and unimpressive safety. If you want a vehicle that prioritizes personality and capability over everyday polish, the Wrangler fits that brief well.

With 37.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have room to shop carefully.

Is the 2022 Jeep Wrangler reliable?

Owners rate it 4.93/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback highlights a vehicle people tend to count on for its iconic design, fun driving experience, and off-road capability. The expert review also emphasizes that the Wrangler is built around a singular, rugged character that rewards buyers who understand what they’re getting into.

The performance write-up reinforces that this is a durable, purpose-built off-roader with a distinctive driving experience rather than a fragile novelty. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is accepting the Wrangler’s compromises in comfort, refinement, and fuel use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Jeep Wrangler?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper records review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on wear from off-road use, roof and door condition, and any signs of hard use or modification. It also helps to compare trim equipment closely, since the Wrangler’s feature content varies a lot by version.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Sport, Sport S, Sahara, and Rubicon are the core trims, and the base versions can be pretty basic compared with higher trims and special editions.
• Powertrain: You can choose from a turbocharged four-cylinder, gasoline V6, turbodiesel V6, gas V8, or plug-in hybrid powertrain, and the V6 can be paired with an eight-speed automatic.
• Safety package: The Safety Group adds blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking sensors, while the Advanced Safety Group adds adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and automatic high-beam headlights.
• Infotainment: The standard setup uses a 7-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto, while the larger system adds an 8.4-inch touchscreen, satellite radio, connected services, a WiFi hotspot, navigation, and an Alpine premium sound system.
• Fuel efficiency: The eTorque V6 is rated at 21 mpg in combined driving, though real-world results can be lower depending on equipment and use.

Which 2022 Jeep Wrangler trim should I buy?

The 2022 Jeep Wrangler is offered in 4 trim levels: Sport, Sport S, Sahara, and Rubicon.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the Wrangler experience at the lowest starting point and plan to add only the options you truly need.
• Sport S: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it serves as the basis for the High Tide test vehicle and supports a broader mix of comfort and tech upgrades.
• Sahara: Choose this if you want a more road-friendly, better-equipped Wrangler without jumping straight to the most specialized trim.
• Rubicon: This is the one to buy if off-road capability is your top priority, since it is the most trail-focused core trim in the lineup.

The Safety Group and Advanced Safety Group are optional rather than standard, so check whether a used example has the driver-assistance equipment you want.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Jeep Wrangler?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it pays to compare listings carefully and move quickly on strong examples.

• Deal availability: 37.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 8,732 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.03% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 85.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $30,024, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Jeep Wrangler's resale value?

The current average of $30,024 sits slightly below last year's $33,746.

That softer pricing suggests the market has become more favorable for buyers, which can make resale a little more competitive for future sellers. If you buy at the right price now, you may have less downside exposure than someone who bought when prices were higher. The Wrangler’s broad appeal and strong enthusiast following can still help support demand, especially for well-kept examples with desirable equipment.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.93/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Jeep Wrangler safe?

The Wrangler earns a Marginal rating in IIHS small overlap front crash testing and a Marginal rating in IIHS side-impact testing, and it gets a three-star rollover rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 2/10 safety score from our experts.

The Safety Group includes blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking sensors. The Advanced Safety Group adds adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and automatic high-beam headlights.

The safety equipment is optional rather than standard, so you should confirm exactly which package a used Wrangler has before you buy. The crash-test results are a real caution flag, so safety-conscious shoppers should treat this as a key trade-off.

Should I buy a 2022 Jeep Wrangler or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 37.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.03% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.93/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 adds a new air filtration system and updated equipment choices.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $27,745, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $30,024 average.
• It offers distinctive four-door powertrain choices, including a plug-in hybrid and a V8.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $35,016, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $30,024 average.
• It emphasizes off-road capability with solid axles and a five-link suspension system.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of current pricing and broad availability, the 2022 is the safer default choice. If you are especially price-sensitive, the 2021 can save you money, while the 2023 makes sense if you want to spend more for a newer model-year alternative.
