How much does the 2022 Jeep Wrangler cost?

Prices have softened 10.93% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 8,777 listings available, which suggests you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Jeep Wrangler a good car?

Yes — you’re looking at a 4.93/5 user-rated SUV with an expert score of 5.5/10. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its iconic design, fun driving experience, and customizable features. The user feedback also points to strong off-road capability and easy-to-use soft-top convenience, while the overview reinforces its open-air versatility and distinctive character. The main trade-offs are its poor fuel economy and some cost concerns, along with the expert note that it can be tiring to live with every day because of its rough ride and limited refinement.

With a use case centered on adventure, personality, and open-air driving, the Wrangler makes the most sense if you value capability and character over comfort. Good and great deals account for 40.5% of listings, so there’s meaningful market activity if you’re shopping carefully.

Is the 2022 Jeep Wrangler reliable?

Owners rate it 4.93/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a vehicle that many owners find dependable, trouble-free, and worth counting on for the long haul, especially when they value its unique personality and off-road use. The expert driving notes also emphasize that this is a rugged, purpose-built SUV that rewards buyers who understand its character and accept its compromises. If you want low-stress ownership, the Wrangler’s long-term risk is less about mechanical mystery and more about whether you can live with its everyday compromises.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Jeep Wrangler?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any candidate and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the Jeep has been used off-road or modified. Pay close attention to wear on the roof, doors, suspension, tires, and underbody, since the Wrangler’s appeal often overlaps with harder use. It’s also smart to focus on how complete the equipment list is, because many desirable features are optional rather than standard.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The core trims are Sport, Sport S, Sahara, and Rubicon. Base versions can feel sparse, and the content makes clear that many convenience and safety features are optional rather than standard.
• Powertrain: You can shop turbocharged four-cylinder, gasoline V6, turbodiesel V6, gas V8, and plug-in hybrid powertrains. The V6 brings 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque in the test vehicle, and the eTorque setup adds a little extra electric-motor muscle when accelerating from a stop.
• Safety package: The Safety Group includes blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking sensors. The Advanced Safety Group adds adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and automatic high-beam headlights.
• Infotainment: The standard setup uses a 7-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. The larger 8.4-inch system adds satellite radio, connected services including a WiFi hotspot, navigation, and an Alpine premium sound system.
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA says the eTorque V6 should return 21 mpg in combined driving, while the test vehicle averaged 16.8 mpg over a week.

Which 2022 Jeep Wrangler trim should I buy?

The 2022 Jeep Wrangler is offered in 4 trim levels: Sport, Sport S, Sahara, and Rubicon.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the Wrangler experience at the lowest starting point and plan to add only the equipment you truly need.
• Sport S: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it serves as the basis for the High Tide test vehicle and is the starting point for more useful convenience and safety content.
• Sahara: Choose this if you want a more comfort-oriented Wrangler setup without jumping all the way to the most capability-focused trim.
• Rubicon: This is the one to buy if off-road capability is your top priority, since the content positions it as the most trail-focused core trim.

The Safety Group and Advanced Safety Group are worthwhile add-ons if you want more driver assistance, since those features are not standard across the lineup.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Jeep Wrangler?

This is a buyer-friendly market if you’re ready to compare listings carefully and move quickly on the right one.

• Deal availability: 40.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 8,777 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.93% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 85.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $29,938, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Jeep Wrangler's resale value?

The current average of $29,938 sits slightly below last year's $33,613.

That price movement suggests the Wrangler has become more accessible to used buyers, which can help keep demand active if you decide to sell later. A lower entry point can widen the pool of shoppers who are willing to consider one, especially if your vehicle is clean, well-equipped, and accident-free. Stronger trims and desirable equipment should still help you stand out, but the broader market trend points to softer pricing than a year ago.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.93/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Jeep Wrangler safe?

The Jeep Wrangler earns a Marginal rating in IIHS small-overlap front crash testing and a Marginal rating in the newer side-impact test, while NHTSA gives it a three-star rating for rollover resistance.

It earns a 2/10 safety score from our experts.

The Safety Group adds blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking sensors, while the Advanced Safety Group adds adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and automatic high-beam headlights. Those packages help, but they are optional rather than standard, and the crash-test results make clear that safety is not one of the Wrangler’s strengths.

Should I buy a 2022 Jeep Wrangler or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 40.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.93% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.93/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds a new air filtration system and a few equipment updates while keeping the Wrangler’s core formula intact.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $27,572, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $29,938 average.
• It offers a broader powertrain spread, including a plug-in hybrid and a Hemi V8.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $34,813, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $29,938 average.
• It keeps the Wrangler’s off-road focus while adding solid axles and a five-link suspension.

The bottom line: If you want the current-year Wrangler with a favorable price trend and strong inventory, the 2022 is the sensible default. If you’re shopping strictly on price, the 2021 is the better value play; if you want to spend more for a newer model-year alternative, the 2023 is the next step up.
