How much does the 2022 Jeep Wrangler cost?

Prices have softened 11.16% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 8,793 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing prices and trims.

Is the 2022 Jeep Wrangler a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Jeep Wrangler earns a 4.9/5 user rating and a 5.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its iconic design, fun driving experience, and customizable features, and many also like the soft top and off-road capability. The overview frames it as a vehicle for you if you want retro styling, open-air versatility, and true off-road hardware rather than a conventional crossover. The trade-offs are clear: poor fuel economy, a rough ride, and safety compromises. Even so, 33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Jeep Wrangler reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a vehicle people tend to trust for its durable, trouble-free character and long-term appeal, especially when they value its off-road personality and customizable setup. The expert driving notes also reinforce that it is built around a rugged, dependable formula rather than comfort-first refinement. If you want a used Wrangler, the main long-term ownership risk is accepting that its strengths come with compromises in fuel use, ride quality, and day-to-day ease.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Jeep Wrangler?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any candidate and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the Jeep has been modified or used off-road. Focus on overall condition, signs of hard use, and whether the equipment matches the trim and option mix you want. Pay close attention to how the vehicle has been maintained, because the Wrangler’s appeal depends heavily on how well it has been cared for.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Wrangler comes in four core trim levels: Sport, Sport S, Sahara, and Rubicon. Base versions can feel pretty basic, and the content shows that many desirable comfort and convenience items are optional rather than standard.
• Powertrain: You can choose among a turbocharged four-cylinder, gasoline V6, turbodiesel V6, gas V8, or plug-in hybrid powertrain, and the V6 can be paired with an eight-speed automatic instead of the standard manual.
• Safety package: The Safety Group adds blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking sensors, while the Advanced Safety Group adds adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and automatic high-beam headlights. These features are not standard.
• Infotainment: The standard setup includes a 7-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The larger 8.4-inch system adds satellite radio, connected services with a WiFi hotspot, navigation, and an Alpine premium sound system.
• Fuel efficiency: The eTorque V6 is said to return 21 mpg in combined driving, though real-world results can be lower depending on equipment and use.

Which 2022 Jeep Wrangler trim should I buy?

The 2022 Jeep Wrangler is offered in 4 trim levels: Sport, Sport S, Sahara, and Rubicon.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the Wrangler experience at the lowest starting point and plan to add only the options you truly need.
• Sport S: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it builds on the base setup with a more usable mix of everyday equipment while staying close to the core Wrangler formula.
• Sahara: Choose this if you want a more comfort-oriented Wrangler with a broader feature set and a more polished feel for regular use.
• Rubicon: This is the one to buy if off-road capability is your priority, since it is the most trail-focused trim in the lineup.

The Safety Group and Advanced Safety Group are worthwhile upgrades if you want more driver assistance, because those features are not standard.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Jeep Wrangler?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 8,793 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.16% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 85.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $29,553, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Jeep Wrangler's resale value?

The current average of $29,553 sits slightly below last year's $33,266.

That price movement suggests the Wrangler has become more affordable for used buyers, which can help demand stay active in the near term. For a future seller, the key question is whether the market continues to reward the Wrangler’s distinctive appeal enough to offset its higher ownership compromises. Because it remains a highly recognizable model with strong enthusiast interest, well-kept examples should still attract attention. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Jeep Wrangler safe?

The 2022 Jeep Wrangler earns a Marginal rating in IIHS small overlap and side-impact testing, and it gets a three-star rating for rollover resistance from NHTSA.

It earns a 2/10 safety score from our experts.

The Safety Group includes blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking sensors, while the Advanced Safety Group adds adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and automatic high-beam headlights. Those features help, but they are optional rather than standard. The crash-test results are a real caution point, so you should treat safety as a major trade-off if you are considering this model.

Should I buy a 2022 Jeep Wrangler or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.16% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 adds a new air filtration system and continues to offer the High Tide special edition.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $27,120, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $29,553 average.
• It offers a broader powertrain spread, including a plug-in hybrid and a V8.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $34,712, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $29,553 average.
• It emphasizes body-on-frame off-road hardware and highlights the Wrangler’s adventure-first design.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price and current-market availability, the 2022 is the sensible default. If you are shopping strictly on price, the 2021 is the better value play. If you want to spend more for a newer model-year path, the 2023 is the next step up.

2022 Ford Bronco:

• Pros: Incredible off-road capabilities, Multiple body styles, Plenty of cargo space.
• Cons: Advanced safety features are not standard, Middling safety scores.
