How much does the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee cost?

Prices have softened 11.91% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 8,435 listings available, which suggests solid inventory availability for shoppers comparing trims and prices.

Is the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee earns a 4.86/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Technology, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise the luxurious feel, impressive safety features, and interior materials like leather. They also point to the model’s strong technology and overall sense of quality.

The trade-offs are clear: the back seat is cramped, and value for money is a weak point. That matters most if you need maximum passenger space or you’re shopping strictly on price.

For you, that means the Grand Cherokee makes the most sense if you want a premium-feeling SUV with capability and comfort rather than the cheapest five-passenger option. Good and great deals account for 38.7% of listings, so there is still room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee reliable?

Owners rate it 4.86/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a dependable-feeling ownership experience, with buyers repeatedly highlighting the model’s quality, safety, and overall satisfaction. That kind of response usually suggests you can count on the vehicle to deliver the experience shoppers expect from it.

The expert evaluation also emphasizes that the Grand Cherokee is engineered to impress across weather, road, and terrain, which reinforces its all-around capability and confidence. Jeep Wave adds three complimentary oil changes and tire rotations during the first 36 months of ownership, which is a useful ownership perk.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that higher-end hardware and features can be costly to maintain if they age poorly.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any candidate and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the vehicle has higher mileage or off-road use. Focus on condition, equipment operation, and signs of wear that could affect long-term ownership costs.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Laredo is the simplest and most affordable version, while Trailhawk is the off-road-focused choice and Summit Reserve is the luxury end of the range. Lower trims use a more functional matte-black finish, while higher trims can add more upscale materials and features.
• Powertrain: You can choose rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive, with a V6 or V8 engine. The V6 is the more efficient choice, while the V8 adds more power and higher towing capacity.
• Safety package: Active Driving Assist brings adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability and lane-centering assistance, while Intersection Collision Assist adds front cross-traffic warning at intersections. Some features are not universal across the lineup.
• Infotainment: Uconnect 5 includes over-the-air updates, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and an 8.4-inch touchscreen in most trims. A 10.1-inch screen is available on most versions and standard on Summit and Summit Reserve.
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA estimates range from 17 mpg in combined driving with the V8 and 4WD to 21 mpg with the V6 and any drivetrain. Real-world results in testing ranged from 17 mpg to 21.3 mpg.

Which 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee trim should I buy?

The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee is offered in 7 trim levels: Laredo, Altitude, Limited, Trailhawk, Overland, Summit, and Summit Reserve.

Here's the short version:

• Laredo: This is the value-oriented starting point, and it makes sense if you want the Grand Cherokee’s style and core capability without paying for extra luxury or off-road hardware.
• Altitude: Choose this if you want a step up in appearance and equipment while staying below the more expensive trims.
• Limited: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it balances comfort, technology, and everyday usability without jumping too far up the price ladder.
• Trailhawk: Pick this if off-road capability is your priority; it adds the most serious trail hardware and is the clear choice for rugged use.
• Overland: This trim suits you if you want a more upscale feel and the added capability of a more advanced four-wheel-drive system.
• Summit: This is the luxury-leaning choice for shoppers who want a more premium cabin and higher-end features.
• Summit Reserve: This is the top-end pick if you want the most plush version of the Grand Cherokee, with the richest equipment and materials.

The safety package centers on Active Driving Assist and Intersection Collision Assist, but availability can vary by trim, so check the exact vehicle you’re considering.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 38.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 8,435 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.91% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 84.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $26,587, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee's resale value?

The current average of $26,587 sits slightly below last year's $30,181.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you as a buyer now but may temper resale upside later. If you buy at a strong price, you reduce the risk of taking a bigger hit when you eventually sell.

The Grand Cherokee’s broad appeal still helps support future demand, especially because it combines capability, comfort, and a premium image. Well-equipped examples in good condition should remain easier to move than less desirable, poorly maintained ones.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.86/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee safe?

The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Jeep equips the Grand Cherokee with Active Driving Assist, which includes adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability and lane-centering assistance. It also includes Intersection Collision Assist, which adds front cross-traffic warning at intersections.

Jeep says the structure uses extensive aluminum and high-strength steel, which supports the model’s safety mission. One caveat is that Active Driving Assist can disconnect if curves are too tight, so you still need to stay engaged.

Should I buy a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 38.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.91% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.86/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 brings a redesigned body, more technology, and stronger sophistication than the outgoing version.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $22,263, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $26,587 average.
• It offers the familiar outgoing Grand Cherokee formula with stylish design and premium materials.

The bottom line: If you want the newer design, better tech, and stronger overall package, the 2022 is the better path. If your priority is spending less and you’re comfortable with the older generation’s simpler setup, the 2021 is the more budget-friendly alternative.
