How much does the 2022 Hyundai Tucson cost?

Prices have softened 10.66% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,585 listings available, which gives you a healthy amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2022 Hyundai Tucson a good car?

Yes — you’re looking at a 4.8/5 model, and the expert rating is 8.3/10. The model scores 9/10 across Cost effectiveness, Technology, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise the smooth ride, excellent safety features, stylish design, and spacious interior. That lines up well with the Tucson’s use case as a compact SUV that feels more accommodating inside without forcing you into a larger vehicle.

The main trade-offs are fairly pedestrian performance and an underwhelming base engine, so you should not expect quick acceleration. Even so, the Tucson’s roomy cabin and feature-rich setup make it a strong fit if you value comfort and everyday practicality.

The market also looks supportive, with 36.7% of listings marked as good or great deals.

Is the 2022 Hyundai Tucson reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a reliable, trouble-free ownership experience, with many drivers describing the Tucson as a vehicle they can count on over time. The expert review also emphasizes Hyundai’s strong warranty coverage and complimentary normal oil changes and tire rotations, which help reduce early ownership friction.

That said, used buyers should still pay close attention to maintenance records and overall condition, since long-term dependability depends heavily on how the vehicle was cared for.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Hyundai Tucson?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any Tucson you’re considering, even if the listing looks clean at first glance. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re comparing higher-mileage examples or vehicles with optional equipment. Focus on overall condition, signs of wear, and whether the features you want are actually present on the trim you’re shopping.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Tucson rides on a new platform, and the U.S. version uses the long-wheelbase model with two rows of seating and an expanded cargo area. Base-model equipment is more limited, while higher trims add premium fascias, front and rear skid plates, gloss black pillars, a panoramic sunroof, heated outside mirrors with blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic avoidance assist indicators and turn signals, and the option of adding a sunroof.
• Powertrain: The gas model uses a 2.5-liter direct-injected four-cylinder with an eight-speed automatic transmission. It delivers 187 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque, and the hybrid powertrain is the stronger option if you want more power and better efficiency.
• Safety package: Hyundai SmartSense includes standard forward collision-avoidance assist with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane-keep assist, automatic high beams, a driver attention monitor, rear occupant alert, speed limit assist, and leading vehicle departure alert. Available upgrades include blind-spot warning with collision avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic alert with collision avoidance assist, safe exit warning, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, a surround-view camera system, blind-spot monitoring, forward and reverse park distance warning, parking collision avoidance assist, ultrasonic rear occupant alert, and remote parking assist.
• Infotainment: Standard tech includes an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen, a six-speaker audio system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, HD Radio, two USB ports, and a 4.2-inch multi-information display. A 10.25-inch touchscreen is available, but it requires wired phone connections for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
• Fuel efficiency: The gas model is rated at 26 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway with front-wheel drive. Adding all-wheel drive lowers those figures to 24 mpg city and 29 mpg highway.

Which 2022 Hyundai Tucson trim should I buy?

The 2022 Hyundai Tucson is offered in 4 trim levels: SE, SEL, Blue, and N-Line.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Tucson experience with the standard tech and safety foundation. It makes sense if you want the lowest starting point and are comfortable skipping some of the nicer convenience upgrades.
• SEL: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds meaningful everyday upgrades, including satellite radio, Blue Link mobile app compatibility, rear USB outlets, rear air conditioning vents, and dual-zone automatic climate control with ionizer functionality.
• Blue: This trim is aimed at buyers who want the efficiency-focused setup and the same added convenience features that come with the mid-level equipment set.
• N-Line: This is the sportier-looking choice, with a darkened, complex wheel design and sport combination seats. It suits you best if style matters more than maximizing value.

Safety-package upgrades are extensive, and higher trims can add blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, and a surround-view camera system.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Hyundai Tucson?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you have room to shop carefully without waiting forever for a better deal.

• Deal availability: 36.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,585 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.66% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 82.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $19,786, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Hyundai Tucson's resale value?

The current average of $19,786 sits slightly below last year's $22,146.

That decline suggests the Tucson has become more affordable for buyers, which can make it easier to move on from later if you buy at the right price. For future sellers, the softer market means your best resale outcome will depend on condition, mileage, and how well the vehicle has been maintained.

Strong feature content and broad buyer appeal can help support demand, especially for well-kept examples with desirable equipment. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Hyundai Tucson safe?

The 2022 Hyundai Tucson has not been tested and rated by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) nor the National Highway Traffic Administration (NHTSA).

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Hyundai SmartSense is the named driver-assistance suite, and its standard features include forward collision-avoidance assist with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane-keep assist, automatic high beams, a driver attention monitor, rear occupant alert, speed limit assist, and leading vehicle departure alert. Available safety upgrades include blind-spot warning with collision avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic alert with collision avoidance assist, safe exit warning, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, a surround-view camera system, blind-spot monitoring, forward and reverse park distance warning, parking collision avoidance assist, ultrasonic rear occupant alert, and remote parking assist.

Should I buy a 2022 Hyundai Tucson or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 36.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.66% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The redesigned 2022 Tucson brings a high-tech cabin, a comfortable ride, and a spacious cargo area.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $16,972, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $19,786 average.
• It offers a familiar, well-equipped formula at a competitive price.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2022 if you want the redesigned cabin, stronger market inventory, and a more modern overall package. If your priority is saving money and you’re comfortable with the older generation’s familiar setup, the 2021 remains the value play.
