How much does the 2022 Hyundai Tucson cost?

Prices have softened 10.82% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,754 listings available, which gives you a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Hyundai Tucson a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Hyundai Tucson earns a 4.82/5 user rating and an 8.33/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Cost effectiveness, Technology, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise the smooth ride, excellent safety features, stylish design, and spacious interior. Those themes line up with the Tucson’s family-friendly cabin and its appeal as a compact SUV that feels roomier than many rivals.

The main trade-offs are fairly pedestrian performance and an underwhelming base engine, so you should not expect quick acceleration. Even so, the Tucson’s roomy packaging and modern feature set make it a strong fit if you want comfort and practicality over sportiness.

With 36.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Hyundai Tucson reliable?

Owners rate it 4.82/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with many drivers saying they are extremely satisfied with the SUV over time. That kind of response usually matters most when you are shopping used, because it suggests the Tucson has earned trust from people living with it every day.

The expert evaluation also reinforces that impression by describing the Tucson as competent and well-rounded rather than fragile or finicky. Hyundai’s complimentary normal oil changes and tire rotations for 3 years/36,000 miles add a helpful ownership perk early on.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about a known reliability red flag and more about choosing a neglected example, so service history and condition still matter.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Hyundai Tucson?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 83% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any Tucson you are considering, even if the listing looks clean. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection if the vehicle has higher mileage, incomplete service records, or signs of cosmetic or interior wear.

Focus on how the cabin, controls, and cargo area have held up, since the Tucson’s appeal is tied closely to its comfort and space. If you are comparing multiple examples, condition and equipment level can matter more than small differences in mileage.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Tucson’s base setup includes standard LED daytime running lights, Bi-LED headlights, LED front turn signals, stain- and odor-resistant cloth seats, and an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen. Higher trims add premium fascias, front and rear skid plates, gloss black pillars, a panoramic sunroof, heated outside mirrors with blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic avoidance assist indicators and turn signals, and leather-trimmed seating on Limited.
• Powertrain: You get a 2.5-liter direct-injected four-cylinder with 187 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque, plus a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder hybrid that makes 226 total system horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The gas engine is competent but uninspiring, while the hybrid is the more engaging choice and the most efficient Tucson setup.
• Safety package: Hyundai SmartSense includes forward collision-avoidance assist with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane-keep assist, automatic high beams, a driver attention monitor, rear occupant alert, speed limit assist, and leading vehicle departure alert. Available upgrades include blind-spot warning with collision avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic alert with collision avoidance assist, safe exit warning, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, a surround-view camera system, parking collision avoidance assist, and remote parking assist.
• Infotainment: Standard equipment includes an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, HD Radio, a six-speaker audio system, and two USB ports. A 10.25-inch screen is available, but it requires a wired connection for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
• Fuel efficiency: The front-wheel-drive gas model is rated at 26 mpg city, 33 mpg highway, and 29 mpg combined. With AWD, those figures drop to 24 mpg city, 29 mpg highway, and 26 mpg combined. The hybrid returns 37 mpg city, 36 mpg highway, and 37 mpg combined, and the most efficient hybrid is rated at 38 mpg city/highway/combined.

Which 2022 Hyundai Tucson trim should I buy?

The 2022 Hyundai Tucson is offered in 4 trim levels: SE, SEL, Blue, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Tucson’s core redesign, standard safety tech, wireless smartphone integration, and the roomy two-row layout. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the new-generation Tucson, but you give up some convenience and appearance upgrades found higher up.
• SEL: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds useful everyday upgrades without pushing the price too far. You get more convenience features, and the SEL can also be paired with the Convenience Package, which brings many of the features found on the top-tier Limited.
• Blue: Choose this if you want the hybrid-focused version of the Tucson lineup and better efficiency. It is the trim to target if fuel economy matters most and you want the more advanced powertrain.
• Limited: This is the most upscale choice, with the richest feature content and the most premium feel. It suits you best if you want the most comfort, the most available equipment, and the most polished Tucson experience.

The safety package is broad across the lineup, but higher trims unlock more advanced driver-assistance features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Hyundai Tucson?

This is a moderate buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 36.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,754 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.82% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 83.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $19,927, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Hyundai Tucson's resale value?

The current average of $19,927 sits slightly below last year's $22,343.

That decline suggests the Tucson has become more affordable for used buyers, which can help demand stay healthy in the near term. For a future seller, that means your resale outcome will depend heavily on how well your vehicle is maintained and how competitively it is priced when you list it.

The Tucson’s broad appeal should help support demand, especially because shoppers value its space, safety, and tech. If you keep mileage reasonable and preserve condition, you should be in a better position when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.82/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Hyundai Tucson safe?

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The Hyundai SmartSense Safety Feature suite includes standard forward collision-avoidance assist with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane-keep assist, automatic high beams, a driver attention monitor, rear occupant alert, speed limit assist, and leading vehicle departure alert. Available upgrades add blind-spot warning with collision avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic alert with collision avoidance assist, safe exit warning, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, a surround-view camera system, parking collision avoidance assist, and remote parking assist.

The Tucson has not been tested and rated by IIHS or NHTSA, so you should lean more heavily on its standard and available driver-assistance equipment when evaluating safety.

Should I buy a 2022 Hyundai Tucson or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 36.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 83% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.82% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.82/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The redesign brings a roomier cabin, a high-tech interior, and a strong safety feature set.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $17,207, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $19,927 average.
• It offers a familiar formula with plenty of tech and safety features at a competitive price.

The bottom line: If you want the roomier redesign, newer tech, and stronger overall appeal, the 2022 is the better all-around pick. If your priority is spending less and you are comfortable with the older generation’s formula, the 2021 is the smarter value play.
