How much does the 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe cost?

Prices have softened 9.28% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 4,686 listings available, which suggests you should have a healthy number of options to compare.

Is the 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe a good car?

Yes — it earns a 4.8/5 user rating and an 8.3/10 expert rating. The model scores 10/10 across Cost effectiveness and Safety.

Drivers consistently praise its excellent value, numerous tech features, comfortable ride, spacious interior, and advanced safety features. The main trade-offs are the underwhelming base engine and a bit of noise from the turbo engine during drive.

For you, that means the Santa Fe makes the most sense if you want a well-equipped family SUV with strong everyday comfort and value rather than a sporty feel. The market also shows 35.0% good or great deals, which supports the case for shopping carefully.

Is the 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Drivers describe it as excellent value with a comfortable ride, spacious interior, and advanced safety features, and they also point to a generally trouble-free ownership experience. The expert evaluation adds that Hyundai’s ownership perks help the Santa Fe stand out on long-term value, including a generous three-year/36,000-mile complimentary maintenance program and a free three-year subscription to Bluelink service.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the base engine may feel strained if you regularly carry passengers or drive in demanding conditions.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 87% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper records review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on the engine, transmission behavior, and any signs of uneven wear or prior bodywork. It also helps to compare trim equipment closely so you know whether the vehicle has the safety and tech features you want.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The XRT adds blacked-out exterior details, unique black alloy wheels, additional lower body cladding, fake front and rear skid plates, nearly useless running boards, and roof-rail crossbars that look like basket handles. It also includes the SEL’s equipment and Convenience Package, but the visual upgrades are mostly cosmetic.
• Powertrain: The standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder makes 191 horsepower and 181 pound-feet of torque. It is adequate for normal commuting and highway cruising, but it can feel short on power when climbing hills or trying to hustle.
• Safety package: Hyundai SmartSense includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian and cyclist detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, and adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability. Highway Driving Assist is not available for the XRT trim level.
• Infotainment: The XRT has a 12.3-inch digital instrumentation panel and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, along with Bluetooth, satellite radio, and Bluelink connected services.
• Fuel efficiency: The official EPA fuel economy rating is 24 mpg.

Which 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe trim should I buy?

The 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe is offered in 5 trim levels: SE, SEL, XRT, Limited, Calligraphy.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the entry point, but the year’s safety expansion to the SE trim later in the year makes it more appealing if you want the basics without stretching your budget.
• SEL: This is the best-value choice if you want a stronger equipment mix before moving into the pricier trims, since the XRT builds on the SEL and its Convenience Package.
• XRT: This is the trim to choose if you want the outdoor-themed styling and the full set of standard tech and safety features, but the cosmetic changes are the main draw rather than added capability.
• Limited: This is the better pick if you want more power, since it upgrades to the turbocharged 2.5-liter engine.
• Calligraphy: This is the most upscale choice, and it also gets the turbocharged engine for buyers who want the most premium version.

The safety-package expansion to the SE trim later in the year is worth noting if you are comparing lower trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe?

This looks like a moderate market for selective buyers who are willing to compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 35.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 4,686 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.28% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 87.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $21,112, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe's resale value?

The current average of $21,112 sits slightly below last year's $23,272.

That price movement suggests the Santa Fe has become more affordable for buyers, which can make it easier to move later if you price it competitively. For a future seller, the softer market means you may need to be realistic about expectations if you plan to trade or sell soon. On the other hand, strong value positioning can help keep shopper interest steady.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe safe?

The 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and five-star ratings in every test performed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), with the exception of a four-star rollover resistance score.

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

Hyundai SmartSense bundles forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian and cyclist detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, and adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability. Safe Exit Assist is also standard, and the ultrasonic rear occupant alert system adds another family-friendly layer of protection.

One caveat is that Highway Driving Assist is not available for the XRT trim level, so you should confirm the exact feature set on any used listing you consider.

Should I buy a 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 35.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 87% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.28% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• This year adds a new XRT trim and expands safety features to the SE trim later in the year.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $19,260, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $21,112 average.
• It offers a substantial update with new styling, controls, displays, engines, technology, and safety systems.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $24,118, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $21,112 average.
• It carries over nearly unchanged while adding a small horsepower increase.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of price, safety, and equipment, the 2022 is the smart default. If your priority is spending less, the 2021 is the value play; if you want the newest carryover version and do not mind paying more, the 2023 is the alternative.
