How much does the 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback cost?

Prices have softened 4.12% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,182 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.7/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Safety.

It stands out as a practical hatchback with a more useful cargo area, a spacious cabin, and standard advanced safety features. The trade-offs are that the base engine is underwhelming and the stereo is lacking, so the entry-level experience is less compelling than the overall package.

With 34.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitively priced example.

Is the 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback is presented as a well-rounded compact car with a practical hatchback body, standard safety tech, and a cabin that feels more versatile than a typical small car. Its expert evaluation also points to a strong overall balance of everyday usability and driving enjoyment.

The performance notes describe the CVT as working well with the turbocharged engine, with smooth operation and useful paddle shifters on higher trims. On the cost side, the model’s value equation is weaker because Honda reserves some of the best equipment for upper trims.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a car with strong appeal can still disappoint if it was maintained poorly or bought in a trim that leaves you wanting more equipment.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback?

At 69.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a close inspection of body panels, paint consistency, and signs of prior repair. It also makes sense to focus on how the car’s equipment matches the trim, since some of the most desirable features are reserved for higher versions. If you’re shopping a manual car, pay extra attention to clutch feel and overall drivability.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LX, Sport, EX-L, and Sport Touring trims differ meaningfully in equipment, and the base trims miss some of the more desirable features found higher up the range.
• Powertrain: The LX uses a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 158 horsepower, while the EX-L and Sport Touring upgrade to a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder with 180 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, Road Departure Mitigation, Lane Keeping Assist, low-speed following capability, and Traffic Jam Assist. Blind-spot warning is limited to the EX-L and Sport Touring, and rear cross-traffic warning is limited to the Sport Touring.
• Infotainment: LX, Sport, and EX-L trims get a 7-inch touchscreen with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while Sport Touring adds a 9-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless smartphone charging, navigation, and a 12-speaker Bose audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: The Sport Touring with the CVT is rated at 33 mpg combined, while the manual version is rated at 31 mpg combined.

Which 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback trim should I buy?

The 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, Sport, EX-L, and Sport Touring.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the most affordable way into the hatchback, but it keeps things basic with the 2.0-liter engine, the 7-inch touchscreen, and the standard safety suite. It makes sense if you want the Civic hatchback’s practicality first and foremost.
• Sport: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a manual transmission option and keeps the price more approachable than the upper trims. It still uses the 2.0-liter engine, so you’re choosing it more for flexibility and value than for extra power.
• EX-L: This trim is the step up if you want the stronger turbocharged engine and more upscale equipment without going all the way to the top. It also adds blind-spot warning, which is a meaningful safety upgrade.
• Sport Touring: This is the most fully equipped version, with the 9-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone integration, Bose audio, navigation, and the most complete safety and convenience package. It is the right pick if you want the most premium Civic hatchback experience.

The safety package is strongest on the EX-L and Sport Touring, since blind-spot warning is not standard on the lower trims and rear cross-traffic warning is reserved for the Sport Touring.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it pays to compare listings carefully and move quickly on the right car.

• Deal availability: 34.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,182 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.12% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 69.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $22,753, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback's resale value?

The current average of $22,932 sits slightly below last year's $23,917.

That softer pricing suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a better entry point today. For a future seller, that also means resale upside may be more limited unless you own a well-kept, well-equipped example.

The trim mix matters too: higher-spec versions with desirable equipment should be easier to market later than a stripped-down car. Strong condition and a clean history will matter even more if you want to protect value over time.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback safe?

The 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the IIHS.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is the standard driver-assistance suite, and it includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, Road Departure Mitigation, Lane Keeping Assist, low-speed following capability, and Traffic Jam Assist. Blind-spot warning is limited to the EX-L and Sport Touring, and rear cross-traffic warning is limited to the Sport Touring.

A caveat to keep in mind is that some driver aids can feel a little intrusive in operation, especially when traffic cuts in or when lane-keeping assistance is active.

Should I buy a 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 34.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 69.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.12% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 redesign brings back the hatchback body style with a more practical cargo area, a spacious cabin, and standard advanced safety features.

The bottom line: If you want the newest version of this hatchback body style with strong safety credentials and a practical interior, the 2022 is the right place to start. If you’re more price-sensitive, you may find better value by comparing it with nearby model years that have similar equipment but lower asking prices.
