How much does the 2022 Honda Civic cost?

Prices have softened 4.50% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,778 listings available, which suggests you should have a workable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Honda Civic a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Honda Civic earns a 4.9/5 from owners and a 7.7/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Performance.

Owners consistently praise its blend of technology, comfort, and driving performance, along with its smooth ride and impressive fuel economy. The redesign also gives you a more polished, well-rounded compact sedan with strong handling, impressive technology, and plenty of cargo space.

The main trade-offs are a base stereo that falls short and a value proposition that experts view less favorably. Even so, if you want a compact car that feels refined and practical for commuting, errands, and everyday use, this Civic fits that role well.

Only 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market is somewhat selective rather than deeply discounted.

Is the 2022 Honda Civic reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with many drivers describing the car as a model they can count on over time. The expert evaluation also emphasizes trust, predictability, and a calm, consistent driving character.

Honda’s safety and technology improvements add to that sense of durability, and the car’s strong resale reputation supports the case for long-term ownership. For used buyers, the main risk is less about the Civic’s basic competence and more about finding one that has been maintained well and not worn hard.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Honda Civic?

At 71.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has had bodywork or multiple owners. Focus on condition, repair quality, and whether the equipment on the car matches the trim you expect.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: LX and Sport are the most basic versions, and they miss some of the features that make the Civic feel more complete. EX adds the proper blind-spot warning system, while Touring brings the most upscale cabin and equipment.
• Powertrain: LX and Sport use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 158 horsepower and 138 lb-ft of torque, while EX and Touring get a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder with 180 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque. The turbo engine is the more satisfying choice if you want stronger acceleration.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing includes Traffic Jam Assist, Level 2 adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and Lane Keeping Assist. Blind-spot warning is not on LX or Sport, and Touring adds rear cross-traffic alert.
• Infotainment: The standard setup uses a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Touring upgrades to a 9-inch screen with wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, wireless smartphone charging, HD radio, satellite radio, and navigation.
• Fuel efficiency: The Touring returned 30.4 mpg on a 95-mile loop, while Honda said the car was expected to achieve 34 mpg.

Which 2022 Honda Civic trim should I buy?

The 2022 Honda Civic is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, Sport, EX, and Touring.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, but it’s the most stripped-down choice and misses blind-spot warning. It makes sense only if you want the lowest starting cost and can live with the basics.
• Sport: This adds a bit more equipment and still keeps the Civic’s core strengths intact, but it also lacks blind-spot warning. It’s a reasonable middle-ground if you want the Civic feel without moving up too far in price.
• EX: This is the best-value trim because it adds the proper blind-spot warning system and the stronger turbocharged engine. If you want the smartest balance of safety and performance, this is the one to target.
• Touring: This is the most fully equipped version, with the larger 9-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone features, premium audio, and rear cross-traffic alert. Choose it if you want the most upscale Civic experience and are willing to pay for it.

For safety, the EX is the trim that finally adds proper blind-spot warning, while Touring adds rear cross-traffic alert on top of that.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Honda Civic?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market rather than a bargain-bin one.

• Deal availability: 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,778 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.50% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 71.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $21,764, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Honda Civic's resale value?

The current average of $22,050 sits slightly below last year's $23,090.

That softer pricing suggests the Civic has become a bit more accessible for buyers, which can help keep demand healthy in the used market. For a future seller, that means you may not see the same peak pricing as before, but the model’s broad appeal should still support steady interest.

The current market also shows that shoppers are still willing to pay for a well-regarded Civic, especially one with the right trim and condition. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Honda Civic safe?

The 2022 Honda Civic earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is the standard driver-assistance suite, and it includes Traffic Jam Assist, Level 2 adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and Lane Keeping Assist. The system is described as smoother and more refined than before, thanks to a wide-view front camera and eight ultrasonic sonar sensors.

There are trim-level gaps to watch for: blind-spot warning is not included on LX or Sport, while EX adds it and Touring adds rear cross-traffic alert. The car also gets rear side-impact airbags and a rear-seat reminder system.

Should I buy a 2022 Honda Civic or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 71.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.50% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Honda’s redesign and technology upgrades make this year especially compelling.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $19,218, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $22,050 average.
• It’s the outgoing generation, so you may prefer it if you want a proven Civic at a lower price.

The bottom line: If you want the more modern, better-equipped Civic, the 2022 is the stronger choice. If your priority is saving money and you’re comfortable with the older generation, the 2021 is the value play.

2022 Toyota Corolla:
