Is the 2022 Genesis GV70 a good car?

Generally — the 2022 Genesis GV70 earns a 4.1/5 user rating and an 8.00/10 expert rating, which points to a strong overall showing. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Technology.

Owners repeatedly praise its comfort, luxury, and value for money, and they also like the spacious interior and high-quality materials. The GV70’s distinctive design is another recurring strength, especially if you want something that feels less mainstream than many small luxury SUVs.

The trade-offs are clear: the expert review calls out noisy operation and poor handling. In practical terms, that means you’re getting a stylish, well-equipped luxury crossover that fits buyers who value design and tech more than sharp driving dynamics.

The market also looks reasonably supportive, with 36.0% of listings marked as good or great deals.

Is the 2022 Genesis GV70 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.1/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels comfortable, luxurious, and generally dependable enough to inspire confidence over time. The review summary also emphasizes value for money, which matters if you want a premium SUV that doesn’t feel fragile or overly fussy to live with.

The expert review adds that Genesis backs the GV70 with a 10-year, 100,000-mile powertrain warranty, five-year, 60,000-mile basic coverage, and three years or 36,000 miles of complimentary scheduled maintenance. That support helps reduce early ownership risk, though you should still watch for the usual used-luxury concerns around condition, maintenance history, and feature operation.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Genesis GV70?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any candidate, even if the listing looks clean at first glance. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that checks the electronics, driver-assistance features, and interior condition, since the GV70’s appeal depends heavily on its tech and cabin quality. Pay close attention to whether the vehicle has the equipment you want, because some desirable features are reserved for higher trims.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Base models use leatherette rather than real leather seats, while Sport Prestige models add more distinctive styling and more luxurious materials.
• Powertrain: The 2.5-liter turbo-four makes 300 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque, while the 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 makes 375 horsepower and 391 lb-ft of torque; both pair with an eight-speed automatic and standard all-wheel drive.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes lane-keep assist, forward-collision warning, blind-spot and forward collision-avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic alert, a driver-attention monitor, Highway Driving Assist, and eight airbags, including a front-center airbag. Highway Driving Assist 2 adds lane-change functionality and navigation-based adaptive cruise control with auto-curve slowdown.
• Infotainment: The standard setup uses a 14.5-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus a rotary controller; higher trims can add a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12-inch head-up display.
• Fuel efficiency: The four-cylinder model is rated at 24 mpg combined (22 mpg city, 28 mpg highway) with 18-inch or 19-inch wheels, while 21-inch wheels reduce it to 22 mpg combined (19 mpg city, 26 mpg highway). The V6 is rated at 21 mpg combined (19 mpg city, 25 mpg highway).

Which 2022 Genesis GV70 trim should I buy?

The 2022 Genesis GV70 is offered in 5 trim levels: Standard, Select, Advanced, Sport, and Sport Prestige.

Here's the short version:

• Standard: This is the entry point, but it still gives you the core appeal of the GV70, including standard all-wheel drive, the 14.5-inch touchscreen, and a strong set of driver aids. It makes sense if you want the GV70’s design and tech without stretching for extras.
• Select: This trim sits above the base model and is part of the four-cylinder lineup, so it’s the step up if you want a little more equipment without jumping to the V6. It’s the trim to consider if you want a better balance of value and features.
• Advanced: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it moves you deeper into the lineup without requiring the top-end price. If you want a more complete luxury feel, this is the trim to focus on first.
• Sport: This trim is where the V6 becomes available, so it’s the right pick if you want more power and a stronger performance-oriented setup. Choose it if acceleration matters more to you than keeping costs down.
• Sport Prestige: This is the most upscale and distinctive version, with unique styling touches, 21-inch wheels, dark-finished chrome, and richer interior materials. It suits you best if you want the most premium-looking GV70 and don’t mind paying for it.

Safety content notes that the GV70 comes standard with a broad suite of driver-assistance features, while Highway Driving Assist 2 is optional.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Genesis GV70?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully without waiting forever.

• Deal availability: 36.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 831 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.17% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 86.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $30,972, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Genesis GV70's resale value?

The current average of $30,972 sits slightly below last year's $34,478.

That decline suggests the market has softened, which can help you as a buyer today but may temper resale expectations later. If you buy at the right price now, you reduce the chance of taking a big hit when it’s time to sell. A well-kept GV70 with strong equipment and clean history should still appeal to shoppers who want a distinctive luxury SUV.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.1/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Genesis GV70 safe?

The 2022 Genesis GV70 is a new model, so crash-test ratings from IIHS and NHTSA aren’t available yet.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

The GV70 comes standard with lane-keep assist, forward-collision warning, blind-spot and forward collision-avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic alert, a driver-attention monitor, Highway Driving Assist, and eight airbags, including a front-center airbag. Optional Highway Driving Assist 2 adds lane-change functionality and navigation-based adaptive cruise control with auto-curve slowdown.

One caveat from the test drive is that the lane-centering function couldn’t handle every curve, which limits how seamless the system feels in real-world use.

Should I buy a 2022 Genesis GV70 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 36.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.17% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.1/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 launch brings standard all-wheel drive, a 14.5-inch touchscreen, and a distinctive design-led identity.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $34,247, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $30,972 average.
• It adds an all-electric version to the lineup.

The bottom line: If you want the lower purchase price and strong current inventory, the 2022 is the smarter buy. If you’re willing to spend more for the newer model year and want the expanded electrified lineup, the 2023 is worth a look. Price-sensitive buyers should start with the 2022 and focus on clean, well-equipped examples.
