The 2022 Sierra 3500HD is presented as a capable, configurable heavy-duty truck with a broad spread of equipment, which is the kind of setup many used buyers want when they plan to keep a truck for demanding work. Its appeal comes from strong towing numbers, available diesel power, and a more refined cabin experience than older generations offered. For long-term ownership, your biggest risk is buying a truck that has been worked hard without the right maintenance history or condition to match.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 GMC Sierra 3500HD?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should prioritize a history report first, then inspect the truck closely for signs of heavy use, especially if it was used for towing or hauling. Focus on overall condition, equipment functionality, and whether the truck’s configuration matches the kind of work you plan to do. A careful inspection matters most on a heavy-duty pickup because capability is only valuable if the truck has been maintained to support it.

What is the 2022 GMC Sierra 3500HD's resale value?

The current average of $54,524 sits slightly below last year's $58,365.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can help you buy more confidently now, but it also means future resale will depend heavily on how well the truck is equipped and maintained. Heavy-duty trucks with the right configuration and clean history tend to hold buyer interest better than poorly documented examples. If you plan to resell later, condition and provenance will matter a lot more than simply owning a capable truck.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
