Used 2022 GMC Sierra 2500HD for Sale nearColumbus, OH

How much does the 2022 GMC Sierra 2500HD cost?

Prices have softened 9.75% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,025 listings available, which suggests you have a decent amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 GMC Sierra 2500HD a good car?

Generally — the 2022 GMC Sierra 2500HD earns 4.43/5 from owners and 7.67/10 from experts. The standout strength is Form and function at 9/10.

Drivers consistently praise its smooth and powerful ride, along with its comfort and feature content. The user feedback also points to strong value, especially with the Black Diamond Package, and the truck’s mix of capability and everyday usability fits buyers who want a heavy-duty pickup that does more than just tow and haul.

The trade-offs are clear: it can feel less refined inside than some rivals, and the top trims get expensive quickly. That matters most if you want a work truck that still feels upscale or if you’re comparing it against other heavy-duty pickups with stronger cabin polish.

The market looks reasonably healthy, with 34.1% of listings marked as good or great deals.

Is the 2022 GMC Sierra 2500HD reliable?

Owners rate it 4.43/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback highlights a truck that feels dependable, smooth, and powerful, with owners describing it as a vehicle they can count on for comfort and capability. The expert review also reinforces that impression by calling the powertrains strong performers and noting the Duramax diesel and Allison automatic as an extremely capable combination.

GMC also covers your first scheduled maintenance visit, which is a nice ownership perk. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that heavy-duty trucks can be expensive to keep in top shape if they’ve been worked hard or poorly maintained.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 GMC Sierra 2500HD?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 81.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any truck you’re considering, even if the listing looks clean. A pre-purchase inspection matters here because heavy-duty pickups often see towing, hauling, and off-road use that can hide wear. Focus on overall condition, signs of hard use, and whether the truck’s equipment matches how you plan to use it.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Pro trim is aimed at fleet and contractor buyers and skips leather and fancy tech, while the SLE and SLT add more comfort for mainstream use. The AT4 is the off-road-focused choice, and the Denali is the luxury-oriented trim.
• Powertrain: The truck offers strong 6.6-liter V8 gas and turbodiesel engines, and the Duramax diesel pairs with an Allison 10-speed automatic. The diesel setup is described as abundant in power and extremely capable.
• Safety package: Available driver-assistance features include automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic warning, following distance indicator, hill-descent control, and front and rear park assist. Standard items include HD Surround Vision, a rear-seat reminder system, driver Safety Alert Seat, and Teen Driver.
• Infotainment: Depending on trim, you get a 7-inch or 8-inch color touchscreen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard on SLT and above, available on SLE, and not offered on the base Pro trim. A navigation system is standard on Denali and available on SLT and AT4.
• Fuel efficiency: During testing, the truck averaged an indicated 14.4 mpg in combined city and highway driving without a trailer.

Which 2022 GMC Sierra 2500HD trim should I buy?

The 2022 GMC Sierra 2500HD is offered in 5 trim levels: Pro, SLE, SLT, AT4, Denali.

Here's the short version:

• Pro: This is the work-focused choice if you want maximum capability without extra frills. It keeps costs down, but you give up leather and the more advanced tech features found higher up the range.
• SLE: This is the first trim that starts to feel more livable for everyday use, with added comfort and more available tech. It’s a sensible step up if you want value without jumping too far in price.
• SLT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a stronger mix of comfort and convenience, including standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. If you want a well-rounded truck, this is the one to look at first.
• AT4: This is the right pick if you want the off-road-oriented setup and a more rugged personality. It adds the hardware and look that suit buyers who want capability beyond towing and hauling.
• Denali: This is the luxury choice, with the most premium presentation and standard navigation. It makes sense if you want the most upscale Sierra 2500HD experience and are willing to pay for it.

The AT4 and Denali are offered exclusively in crew cab form.

What is the 2022 GMC Sierra 2500HD's resale value?

The current average of $51,033 sits slightly below last year's $56,546.

That decline suggests the market has become more favorable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to price more competitively than owners did a year ago. If you buy well now, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation compared with someone who paid closer to last year’s higher average. Trucks with strong feature content and broad appeal tend to hold attention better than stripped-down examples.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.43/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Standard safety equipment includes HD Surround Vision, a rear-seat reminder system, driver Safety Alert Seat, and Teen Driver. That gives you a strong baseline, but the review also recommends choosing as many camera and safety systems as you can afford because the truck’s size and mass make visibility and awareness especially important.

Should I buy a 2022 GMC Sierra 2500HD or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 34.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 81.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.75% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.43/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 review emphasizes a heavy-duty truck that balances capability with off-road ability, design, infotainment, trailering technology, and safety.

The bottom line: The 2022 Sierra 2500HD makes sense if you want a heavy-duty truck with broad capability, strong owner satisfaction, and a market that has cooled enough to create some buying opportunities. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you can use the softer pricing and decent inventory to shop selectively and target the better-equipped trims that fit your needs.
