How much does the 2022 Chevrolet Suburban cost?

Prices have softened 14.34% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,389 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing trims and prices.

Is the 2022 Chevrolet Suburban a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Chevrolet Suburban earns a 4.5/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 9/10.

It stands out for its roomy cabin and broad capability, and it offers multiple powertrain options along with a powerful engine. That makes it a strong fit if you want a full-size SUV that prioritizes passenger and cargo space.

The trade-offs are its potentially polarizing design and difficult maneuverability in tight spaces, along with poor fuel economy. Even so, 38.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Chevrolet Suburban reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2022 Suburban’s appeal comes from its roomy cabin, broad capability, and multiple powertrain choices, including a powerful engine lineup. Chevrolet also gives it a modernized tech and safety update for the year, which helps it feel current for daily use.

Its powertrain coverage includes a 3.0-liter turbodiesel with excellent fuel economy and a five-year, 100,000-mile powertrain warranty, which is a meaningful ownership perk. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a large, complex SUV can bring higher running costs if it has been heavily used or poorly maintained.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Chevrolet Suburban?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper vehicle-by-vehicle review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on wear items, electronics, and signs of heavy family or towing use. Pay close attention to condition, since a large SUV can hide a lot of usage behind a clean presentation.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LS is the most basic version, while the LT adds leather seats and a larger digital instrument cluster; higher trims bring more upscale materials and equipment.
• Powertrain: You can choose a 5.3-liter V8, a 6.2-liter V8, or a 3.0-liter turbodiesel inline-six, all paired with a 10-speed automatic. The diesel stands out for its torque and fuel economy.
• Safety package: Chevy Safety Assist includes automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, front pedestrian braking, rear park assist, following distance indicator, automatic high-beam headlights, and an HD rear-vision camera. For 2022, front park assist, lane-keeping assistance, and lane-departure warning are standard, while reverse automatic braking is available.
• Infotainment: The LS gets an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. LT and above add a 10.2-inch system, Google built-in, and wireless device charging.
• Fuel efficiency: EPA ratings for the V8 models range from 14 mpg city to 20 mpg highway, with a combined rating of 16-17 mpg. The 3.0-liter diesel is rated at 20 mpg city and 27 mpg highway.

Which 2022 Chevrolet Suburban trim should I buy?

The 2022 Chevrolet Suburban is offered in 6 trim levels: LS, LT, RST, Z71, Premiere, and High Country.

Here's the short version:

• LS: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Suburban’s core space and capability at the lowest price. It’s the trim to consider if you want the biggest cabin for the money and can live without the extra luxury and tech upgrades.
• LT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds leather seats, a larger digital instrument cluster, Google built-in, and wireless charging. It’s the sweet spot if you want a more modern feel without jumping too far up the price ladder.
• RST: This trim leans into a sportier look, and the available 6.2-liter V8 gives it extra punch. It suits you if you want stronger performance and a more distinctive appearance.
• Z71: This is the trim to choose if you want the standard 4WD setup and the most trail-ready hardware in the lineup. It’s the right pick if your priorities include traction and capability.
• Premiere: This trim adds more upscale equipment and is one of the trims that can be paired with the 6.2-liter V8. It makes sense if you want a more premium Suburban without going all the way to the top.
• High Country: This is the top-end choice, with the most luxurious cabin and the 6.2-liter V8 standard. Buy this if you want the most upscale version of the Suburban.

For safety, front park assist, lane-keeping assistance, and lane-departure warning are standard for 2022, while reverse automatic braking remains available.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Chevrolet Suburban?

The market looks moderate, so you can shop selectively without expecting a deep bargain on every listing.

• Deal availability: 38.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,389 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.34% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 80.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $42,441, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Chevrolet Suburban's resale value?

The current average of $42,441 sits slightly below last year's $49,546.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the key is to buy well and keep the vehicle in strong condition so you’re not competing from a weak starting point.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Chevrolet Suburban safe?

The 2022 Chevrolet Suburban earns four-star ratings in front crash protection and rollover resistance, and five-star ratings in side crash protection from NHTSA.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Chevy Safety Assist is standard, and it includes automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, front pedestrian braking, rear park assist, following distance indicator, automatic high-beam headlights, and an HD rear-vision camera. For 2022, front park assist, lane-keeping assistance, and lane-departure warning join the standard list, while reverse automatic braking, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, and a head-up display are available.

One caveat is that the current-generation Suburban has not been tested by IIHS, so you’ll want to lean on the NHTSA results and the standard driver-assistance suite when evaluating safety.

Should I buy a 2022 Chevrolet Suburban or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 38.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.34% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Chevrolet added a larger digital instrument cluster, standard Google built-in, and standard park-assist and lane-maintenance features this year.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $37,653, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $42,441 average.
• It still offers the cabin space and capability that make the Suburban appealing.

The bottom line: If you want the better-equipped version and can find a clean example at a fair price, the 2022 is the stronger all-around pick. If your priority is saving money and you’re comfortable giving up some of the 2022’s tech and safety upgrades, the 2021 is the more budget-friendly path.
