How much does the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 cost?

Prices have softened 10.20% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 9,771 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing trims and prices.

Is the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 a good car?

Generally — the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 earns a 4.3/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, and Technology.

Drivers consistently praise its powerful engines, smooth ride, good value, fuel efficiency, and comfort. The refreshed cabin also stands out as a major improvement, especially if you care about a more modern interior and stronger tech. On the flip side, the ZR2 can’t match the power of rivals, the old interior design remains in WT and Custom trims, and Google Built-in isn’t necessarily better than Chevrolet’s previous setup.

For a full-size pickup, that makes it appealing if you want a truck that can handle work, daily driving, and available off-road capability without feeling stripped down. Good and great deals account for 31.8% of listings, so there’s still room to shop carefully.

Is the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.3/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a truck that feels powerful, comfortable, and dependable enough to earn repeat approval from owners. The review summary also highlights strong engines, smooth rides, and good value, which are all encouraging signs if you plan to keep the truck for a while. The updated cabin and tech help the truck feel more current, which can matter for long-term ownership satisfaction.

The expert review also describes the Silverado as comfortable and notes that its technology is impressive, which supports the idea that it should be easy to live with over time. If you’re buying used, the main long-term risk is making sure you choose a well-kept example with the features and trim level you actually want.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper records review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re looking at a higher-mileage truck or one with off-road use. Focus on cabin condition, feature content, and whether the truck has the updated interior and tech you expect.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Starting with LT, the refreshed truck gets a new interior with digital instrumentation, a widescreen infotainment touchscreen, and improved materials, while WT and Custom keep the older interior design.
• Powertrain: The lineup includes multiple powertrain options, and the standard turbocharged four-cylinder makes more torque; the turbodiesel also gets a big bump in towing capacity.
• Safety package: Chevy Safety Assist is standard on all models, while blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are available upgrades on lower trims.
• Infotainment: The Silverado uses a 13.4-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus Google Built-in, SiriusXM with 360L, connected services, WiFi hotspot, and navigation.

Which 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 trim should I buy?

The 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is offered in 7 trim levels: Work Truck (WT), Custom, LT, Silverado ZR2, High Country, Silverado Limited (LTD), and LT TrailBoss.

Here's the short version:

• Work Truck (WT): This is the most basic choice, and the review makes clear that the older interior design remains here. Buy it only if you want the lowest-cost entry point and can live without the newer cabin upgrades.
• Custom: Like WT, this trim keeps the older interior design, so it makes sense mainly if you want a value-oriented truck and don’t need the refreshed cabin.
• LT: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it gets the new interior, digital instrumentation, and the widescreen infotainment setup that make the 2022 update worthwhile.
• Silverado ZR2: This is the off-road performance model, with standard 4WD, a lifted suspension, 33-inch all-terrain tires, skid plates, and hardware aimed at challenging terrain. It suits you if off-road capability matters more than outright power.
• LT TrailBoss: If you want a more affordable and efficient alternative to the ZR2, this is the smart middle ground, especially with the available turbodiesel and the new interior and tech.
• High Country: This is the luxury-oriented choice, and it’s the trim that can add Super Cruise if you want hands-free driving on approved highways.

Chevy Safety Assist is standard across the lineup, but blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are still upgrades on lower trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 9,771 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.20% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 83.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $33,883, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500's resale value?

The current average of $33,883 sits slightly below last year's $37,732.

That price decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle. For a future seller, it also means resale value may be more sensitive to condition, mileage, and trim choice than it would be in a stronger pricing environment. Well-equipped trucks with the refreshed interior and desirable features should hold up better than basic examples.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 safe?

The 2022 Silverado Limited (LTD) got a four-star overall rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and earned unimpressive results in Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) testing.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Chevy Safety Assist is standard on all 2022 Silverado models and includes the basic driver-assistance and collision-avoidance features you’d expect. Teen Driver is also standard, and it creates a report card after someone else drives the truck. On lower trims, blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are available upgrades. High Country can add Super Cruise, which brings hands-free driving on approved highways with driver monitoring.

The main caveat is that crash-test data for the refreshed 2022 Silverado is unavailable, so you should be aware that the updated truck’s test results are not clearly established here.

Should I buy a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.20% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 update brings a much-improved interior starting with LT and adds the ZR2 off-road performance model.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $30,675, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $33,883 average.
• It offers broad powertrain choice and easy-to-use tech.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $37,685, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $33,883 average.
• It adds more power for the optional Duramax diesel and a new ZR2 Bison off-road trim.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of updated cabin, strong owner approval, and current-market pricing, the 2022 is the sweet spot. If your budget is tighter, the 2021 can save you money, while the 2023 makes sense if you want the newer upgrades and are willing to pay more.
