Why it stands out
The 2022 Chevrolet Colorado stands out as a midsize pickup that balances capability with everyday usability. It offers a good blend of comfort and utility, and Chevrolet’s lineup gives buyers a selection of capable powertrains. For shoppers who want a truck that can handle work duties without feeling oversized, the Colorado’s appeal is easy to understand.
What makes this generation especially distinctive is how much it improved on the areas that drew criticism in the previous model. Chevrolet gave the truck many more active safety features and a much-improved interior, and the cabin now feels more upscale than before. The Colorado also comes with a strong set of standard and available tech, including a large touchscreen and Google built-in, which helps it feel more modern than many rivals.
There are still tradeoffs to consider. The Colorado’s transmission issues on second-generation models are a notable concern, and the base engines have not been among its strongest points. Even so, the 2022 model remains appealing because it offers substantial towing ability, useful features, and a more refined overall package than earlier Colorados.

I really like the exterior aesthetic of this truck. It has an aggressive front-end styling and some key features to allow for some mild off-roading with no major modifications needed. Interior is very nice too, with leather seats and ZR2 badging on headrests. I can’t wait to drive it!

The only issue I have, is that the temperature can only be read on the radio Home Screen so you have to exit Apple CarPlay to see the outside temp. Would be nice to be able to just look down by the speedometer and see it.

| Year-Round Low | $25,054 |
| Year-Round High | $27,771 |

There are 3,844 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2022 Chevrolet Colorado a good car?
Yes — the 2022 Chevrolet Colorado earns a 4.5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its smooth performance, towing capacity, and spacious cabin, and many say it works well as a family-friendly truck. It also fits shoppers who want a midsize pickup that can handle work duties without feeling oversized, while still offering a more refined cabin and useful tech. With 35.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive offer.
Is the 2022 Chevrolet Colorado reliable?
Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
User feedback highlights a truck that many owners find dependable for daily use, with praise for its smooth performance and towing ability. That said, some shoppers should stay alert to the Colorado’s known transmission concerns and focus on examples with clean service records. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is ending up with a truck that has been poorly maintained or shows signs of drivetrain trouble.
What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Chevrolet Colorado?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm there are no accident or title issues. Then prioritize a thorough test drive and inspection, with extra attention on transmission behavior, shifting smoothness, and any warning lights or unusual noises. It also helps to focus on cabin condition and rear-seat space if you plan to use the truck for family duty.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Chevrolet Colorado?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find value.
- Deal availability: 35.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 3,844 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 9.74% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 80.3% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $25,054, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2022 Chevrolet Colorado's resale value?
The current average of $25,054 sits slightly below last year's $27,759.
That softer pricing suggests the Colorado has become more accessible for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. If you buy well now and keep the truck in strong condition, you can help protect your resale position later. Trucks with broad appeal and solid owner satisfaction tend to hold buyer interest better when it’s time to sell.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2022 Chevrolet Colorado or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2022 if:
- 35.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 9.74% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2023 if:
- At $33,068, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $25,054 average.
- It adds a redesigned, more modern crew-cab-only layout with stronger standard tech.
The bottom line:
Choose the 2022 if you want a lower entry price and a broad pool of listings to shop from. Consider the 2023 if you’re willing to pay more for the redesigned truck and its newer-feeling package. If price matters most, the 2022 is the better value path; if you want the newer design and can stretch your budget, the 2023 is the upgrade path.
