How much does the 2022 BMW 5 Series cost?

Prices have softened 11.04% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,479 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 BMW 5 Series a good car?

Yes — the 5/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction, and the 2022 BMW 5 Series remains a compelling midsize luxury sedan if you want real performance credibility with a more comfortable, luxury-focused character. The updated 2021 facelift carries into this model year, including the tweaked front end and larger infotainment touchscreen, and the car still blends luxury, technology, and performance in a way that stands out from many mainstream rivals. It is also a good fit if you want a sedan with a broad lineup and available all-wheel drive. 37.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2022 BMW 5 Series reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2022 BMW 5 Series is described as a strong used choice because it combines luxury, technology, and performance with generous standard safety equipment. It also benefits from the updated G30-era package, including the refreshed styling and interface, while the broader generation is presented as more mature and comfortable than earlier versions. Even so, BMW’s more advanced systems can be tough to master, and the car is still expensive to buy and run.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that complexity can make maintenance and repairs more demanding than on simpler sedans.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 BMW 5 Series?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 81.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should start with a history report to confirm the car’s background and make sure the listing matches the seller’s claims. After that, prioritize a thorough inspection of the electronics, driver-assistance features, and overall condition, since this model leans heavily on technology. Focus on signs of wear that could point to expensive upkeep, especially if the car has been used as a daily driver.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 BMW 5 Series?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find value.

• Deal availability: 37.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,479 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.04% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 81.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $32,071, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 BMW 5 Series's resale value?

The current average of $32,071 sits slightly below last year's $36,052.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy more affordably now but may also limit short-term upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at the right price and keep the car in strong condition, you can help protect your future resale position. The model’s broad appeal and luxury-sedan positioning should still support demand among used shoppers.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2022 BMW 5 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 37.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 81.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.04% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $28,529, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $32,071 average.
• It adds a refreshed look and a more tech-focused feel.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2022 if you want the updated G30-era 5 Series with strong market availability and a solid satisfaction signal. If your priority is spending less upfront, the 2021 is the better value play and still gives you many of the same core strengths.
