Used 2022 BMW 4 Series for Sale nearColorado Springs, CO

How much does the 2022 BMW 4 Series cost?

Prices have softened 5.30% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 892 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 BMW 4 Series a good car?

Yes — 4.9/5 from owners, which is a strong sign that you’ll like living with it. The expert rating is 6.5/10.

The model scores 8/10 across Performance, Technology, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its strong performance, comfort, and stylish design, and they also highlight the engine power and handling. The trade-offs are the polarizing styling and the price point, while the expert review also points to a cramped back seat and weaker value for money.

If you want a sporty luxury car that still brings some everyday usefulness, the 4 Series Gran Coupe’s hatchback body style and cargo utility help it fit that role. The market also shows 35.3% good or great deals, which suggests there are still some attractive listings to find.

Is the 2022 BMW 4 Series reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a car that feels dependable, trouble-free, and enjoyable over the long haul, with strong praise for its performance and comfort. The expert review also describes the turbo engine as responsive across most of its rev range and the automatic transmission as excellent, which supports the impression of a well-sorted powertrain.

BMW includes complimentary scheduled maintenance for the first three years or 36,000 miles, which helps reduce early ownership costs. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that premium-car upkeep and depreciation can still make ownership more expensive than the satisfaction score might suggest.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 BMW 4 Series?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 81.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because accident-free listings are common but not guaranteed. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on body condition, interior wear, and any signs of heavy use or poorly repaired damage. Since this model’s appeal depends so much on how it drives and feels, make sure the specific car you’re considering matches the condition you expect.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base 430i brings Sport or M Sport styling, while the M440i adds an M Performance design with Shadowline trim treatment. The 430i test vehicle also showed that some luxury features can be missing even on a well-equipped example, so check carefully for the equipment you want.
• Powertrain: The 430i uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder engine with 255 horsepower and 294 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. BMW says the 430i Gran Coupe is quick enough for a 5.8-second sprint to 60 mph, and the engine feels responsive across most of its rev range.
• Safety package: Active Driving Assistant is standard and includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, low-speed automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assistance, active blind-spot warning, and rear cross-traffic alert. The more advanced Driving Assistance Professional Package is available only on the M440i.
• Infotainment: Standard Live Cockpit Professional pairs a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with a 10.25-inch touchscreen. You also get wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus over-the-air updates for the cloud-based navigation system.
• Fuel efficiency: The 430i Gran Coupe returned 25.3 mpg on the evaluation loop, and BMW quotes 28 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2022 BMW 4 Series trim should I buy?

The 2022 BMW 4 Series is offered in 2 trim levels: 430i and M440i.

Here's the short version:

• 430i: This is the better-value choice if you want the core 4 Series experience without stretching to the pricier six-cylinder model. It delivers the responsive turbo four, strong tech, and the standard safety suite, but you should be aware that some premium features are reserved for the higher trim.
• M440i: Choose this if you want the more upscale and better-equipped version, especially if you value the additional available driver-assistance and convenience features. It also gets the M Performance design treatment, making it the more complete pick for shoppers who want more equipment and are willing to pay for it.

The standard safety package is a strong point on every trim, but the more advanced Driving Assistance Professional Package is available only on the M440i.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 BMW 4 Series?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right car.

• Deal availability: 35.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 892 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.30% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 81.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $35,276, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 BMW 4 Series's resale value?

The current average of $35,479 sits slightly below last year's $37,464.

That softer pricing suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment rather than on broad market appreciation. Well-kept examples with desirable features should hold up better than average, but the current trend still points to a market that rewards careful shopping more than quick flipping.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 BMW 4 Series safe?

The 2022 BMW 4 Series earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS and five-star ratings from NHTSA.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Active Driving Assistant is standard and includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, low-speed automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assistance, active blind-spot warning, and rear cross-traffic alert. BMW also includes a driver monitoring system, post-collision braking, front and rear parking sensors, and connected emergency services.

The main caveat is that the more advanced Driving Assistance Professional Package is available only on the M440i, so the 430i does not get the full suite of higher-level driver aids. Even so, the standard lane-keeping assistance is described as particularly effective.

Should I buy a 2022 BMW 4 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 35.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 81.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.30% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 brings back the Gran Coupe after a one-year hiatus, adding hatchback practicality and easier rear-seat access.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $32,121, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $35,479 average.
• It emphasizes redesigned styling and a more luxurious, technology-focused feel.

The bottom line: Choose the 2022 if you want the Gran Coupe’s return, stronger market availability, and a well-rounded mix of performance and tech. If your priority is spending less, the 2021 is the better value path, especially if you’re comfortable giving up some of the 2022’s market freshness.
