Used 2022 BMW 2 Series for Sale nearChicago, IL

How much does the 2022 BMW 2 Series cost?

Prices have softened 9.22% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 636 listings available, which suggests you should have a workable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 BMW 2 Series a good car?

Yes — the 2022 BMW 2 Series earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.8/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel, Technology, and Safety.

It stands out as a redesigned entry-level luxury car with a refreshed look, larger proportions, increased power, and more performance than you might expect from a subcompact. It also brings impressive technology and standard advanced safety features, which helps it fit buyers who want a small luxury car with a more energetic personality.

The trade-offs are real: the driving experience is described as disconnected, the back seat is cramped, and a manual transmission is not available. Even so, the overall package still makes sense if you want style, tech, and performance in a compact BMW.

37.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 BMW 2 Series reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2022 BMW 2 Series is presented as a redesigned model with a strong mix of performance, technology, and standard safety equipment. Its powertrain is described as quick and refined, and the available tech includes over-the-air updates, connected services, and wireless smartphone integration. That combination points to a car that feels well engineered and broadly up to date.

The cost-effectiveness notes also frame it as a relatively restrained year-over-year price increase for a redesigned model, which can help ownership feel less punishing than you might expect for a BMW. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the car’s premium hardware and feature content can still mean higher upkeep than a mainstream compact.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 BMW 2 Series?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 78% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the vehicle history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on cars with more options or higher mileage. Focus on overall condition, because the 2 Series can be equipped very differently depending on trim and packages. Make sure the features you want are actually present on the specific car you’re considering.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The 230i Coupe is the more accessible choice, while the M240i xDrive Coupe adds a more performance-oriented look and standard M-style hardware. The 230i can be optioned with similar styling features, so you should compare equipment closely rather than assuming the cheaper car is bare-bones.
• Powertrain: The 230i Coupe uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 255 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, while the M240i xDrive Coupe uses a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six with 382 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. The eight-speed Sport automatic is the only transmission.
• Safety package: Active Driving Assistant is standard, and it includes active blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, rear cross-traffic alert, speed limit information, a rearview camera, park distance control, and adaptive cruise control. Adaptive front LED headlights, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, a 360-degree surround view, and BMW Drive Recorder are available.
• Infotainment: The standard touchscreen is 8.8 inches, with an available 10.25-inch display. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, and the system can do over-the-air updates. BMW Live Cockpit Plus also adds iDrive 7, cloud-based navigation, real-time traffic updates, and connected services.
• Fuel efficiency: No figure is stated in the available data.

Which 2022 BMW 2 Series trim should I buy?

The 2022 BMW 2 Series is offered in 2 trim levels: 230i Coupe and M240i xDrive Coupe.

Here's the short version:

• 230i Coupe: This is the better-value choice if you want the redesigned 2 Series experience without jumping to the pricier performance model. It still gives you the refreshed styling, strong tech, and standard safety equipment, and it can be optioned with many of the same appearance and comfort upgrades.
• M240i xDrive Coupe: This is the pick if you want the most performance and the most standard hardware. It adds the turbo-six, standard M-style exterior and chassis equipment, and a more aggressive personality, but you should expect to pay more for it.

The standard safety package is a strong point across the lineup, so even the lower trim gives you a solid baseline.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 BMW 2 Series?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 37.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 636 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.22% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 78.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $24,921, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 BMW 2 Series's resale value?

The current average of $25,126 sits slightly below last year's $27,679.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle. If prices stay soft, future sellers may face more competition from similarly priced listings, especially with 636 cars on the market. On the other hand, a well-kept example with the right equipment should still hold appeal because the model combines premium branding, strong tech, and standard safety content.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 BMW 2 Series safe?

The 2022 BMW 2 Series has not yet been rated by either the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Active Driving Assistant is the standard driver-assistance suite, and it includes active blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, rear cross-traffic alert, speed limit information, a rearview camera, park distance control, and adaptive cruise control. Available upgrades include adaptive front LED headlights, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, a 360-degree surround view, and BMW Drive Recorder.

Should I buy a 2022 BMW 2 Series or consider a different year?

• Accident-free inventory is solid at 78% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.22% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

• At $21,145, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $25,126 average.
• It offers multiple body styles and a clear identity for buyers who want an affordable BMW.

The bottom line: If you want the newer design, stronger performance, and updated tech and safety content, the 2022 is the better all-around pick. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2021 is the more budget-friendly route.
