How much does the 2022 Audi A3 cost?

Prices have softened 10.54% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 400 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2022 Audi A3 a good car?

Generally — the 2022 Audi A3 earns a 4/5 user rating and an 8.8/10 expert rating, which points to a strong overall showing for a premium compact sedan. It brings a stylish design, a polished cabin, and impressive technology, while also offering a broad spread of versions for a small luxury sedan. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, Cost effectiveness, Technology, and Safety.

The main trade-off is that prices rise quickly with trims and options, so the value equation can change fast as you move up the lineup. It also starts as a front-wheel-drive sedan, with Quattro all-wheel drive available on the A3 and standard on the S3.

With 39.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Audi A3 reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2022 Audi A3 is described as a familiar, proven choice for the class, and its turbocharged 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder setup is paired with a seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch automatic transmission that contributes to quick shifting and smoother operation. Audi also says the transmission’s faster shifts help efficiency, and the car’s overall setup is tuned for a smooth, controlled ride with crisp handling.

The cost side is helped by regular-gas operation, and the model’s available 48-volt mild-hybrid system adds another layer of efficiency-minded engineering. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a premium car with more available equipment can become more expensive to keep in top shape if you buy one that was poorly maintained.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Audi A3?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper records review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on condition, equipment operation, and signs of wear from the car’s premium features and options. Pay extra attention to whether the specific car has the equipment you want, since trim and package content changes the ownership experience a lot.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Premium trim includes 17-inch alloy wheels, eight-way power front seats with four-way power lumbar, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a panoramic sunroof, and lane departure warning. Premium Plus adds adaptive cruise control, memory for the driver’s seat, wireless device charging, advanced key, and Active Lane Assist. Prestige adds matrix-design LED headlights, a Bang & Olufsen sound system with 3D sound, the Virtual Cockpit digital instrument panel, a head-up display, and navigation.
• Powertrain: The turbocharged 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder engine makes 201 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque, and it is assisted by a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. The seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch automatic transmission is a key part of the car’s performance character, and Quattro all-wheel drive is available on the A3 and standard on the S3.
• Safety package: Standard Pre Sense Basic, pre sense front, high-beam assist, and lane-departure warning are included on every A3. Available features include side assist blind-spot monitoring, Pre Sense Rear, Parking System Plus acoustic parking sensors in both front and back, Park Assist automatic steering for perpendicular or parallel spaces, rear cross-traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control with lane-centering.
• Infotainment: The A3 uses a 10.1-inch touchscreen for Audi’s MMI system, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard. Wireless charging is available, and the Virtual Cockpit 12.3-inch digital instrument panel is standard on Prestige and available on Premium Plus.
• Fuel efficiency: EPA-rated fuel economy is 29 mpg city/38 mpg highway/32 mpg combined with front-wheel drive, and 28 mpg city/36 mpg highway/31 mpg combined with AWD.

Which 2022 Audi A3 trim should I buy?

The 2022 Audi A3 is offered in 3 trim levels: Premium, Premium Plus, Prestige.

Here's the short version:

• Premium: This is the entry point, but it still gives you a strong equipment list with 17-inch alloy wheels, power front seats, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a panoramic sunroof, and lane departure warning. It is the trim to start with if you want the lowest-cost path into the A3.
• Premium Plus: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds adaptive cruise control, memory for the driver’s seat, wireless device charging, advanced key, and Active Lane Assist. It also opens the door to more available tech upgrades, making it the sweet spot if you want a richer feature set without jumping to the top trim.
• Prestige: This is the most fully equipped version, adding matrix-design LED headlights, Bang & Olufsen audio with 3D sound, the Virtual Cockpit digital instrument panel, a head-up display, and navigation. Choose this if you want the most upscale A3 experience and are willing to pay for it.

The safety package is broad across the lineup, with standard Pre Sense Basic, pre sense front, high-beam assist, and lane-departure warning on every A3.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Audi A3?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay patient.

• Deal availability: 39.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 400 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.54% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 85.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $21,433, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Audi A3's resale value?

The current average of $21,433 sits slightly below last year's $23,958.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy more confidently now but may also limit upside if you plan to sell soon. If you purchase at a strong price and keep the car in clean condition, you may be better positioned than someone who buys at the top of the range. Premium cars with desirable equipment and strong demand tend to hold attention better than stripped examples.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Audi A3 safe?

The 2022 Audi A3 has not yet been rated for safety by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) gave it its top rating of "Good" in all crashworthiness tests and "Acceptable" in ease of use for LATCH connectors.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes Pre Sense Basic, pre sense front, high-beam assist, lane-departure warning, electronic child locks, rear-seat LATCH anchors and tethers, rear side airbags, and an electronically limited top speed of 130 mph. Available driver-assistance features include side assist blind-spot monitoring, Pre Sense Rear, Parking System Plus, Park Assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control with lane-centering.

Should I buy a 2022 Audi A3 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 39.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.54% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 Audi A3 is a premium compact sedan entering a new generation of production, with upscale features added to give it more of a premium presence.

The bottom line: The 2022 model year makes sense if you want the newer-generation A3 with strong tech, a polished cabin, and a market that has softened enough to create some buying leverage. If you are especially price-sensitive, keep shopping carefully for a well-equipped Premium or Premium Plus, since the trim ladder can push prices up quickly.
