CarGurus Analysis: 2022 Acura RDX
overall

Summary
With 1,818 currently listed for sale and an average price of $31,255, 37.0% of 2022 Acura RDXs for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2022 Acura RDX 4.6 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.83 / 10.
85.9% of 2022 RDX models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2022 Acura RDX stands out as an entry-level luxury sport/utility vehicle that delivers on both parts of the SUV equation. It is the smaller of Acura’s two sport-utes, and it comes with a standard turbocharged four-cylinder engine, an available torque-vectoring all-wheel-drive system, and five trim levels offered as packages. Acura also freshens the 2022 RDX with new styling, a quieter cabin, additional equipment, and refined ride and handling characteristics for some versions.
On the road, the RDX’s strengths are easy to understand: it offers great handling, plenty of cargo space, and excellent value for money. Those qualities make it appealing to buyers who want a luxury SUV that feels practical as well as engaging. The tradeoffs are worth noting, though, since the rear seat is uncomfortable and the technology can be unintuitive.

The Acura RDX is a great choice for a car. It has everything that I could ask for in a car. I loved the color choices, both in and out. The car rides smooth with 4 choices to drive in all weather conditions. This is my first car with Bluetooth which adds to my enjoyable ride. My short list for a new car included BMW, Mercedes, Lexus, and Toyota Highlander. I definitely made the right choice with my new Acura RDX .

It’s a fun little SUV, not too small & not too big. Zippy for a 4 cylinder! Lots of storage with seats down. Seats are comfortable. I wish the heads-up display option was on this vehicle. Overall happy with purchase so far!

Is the 2022 Acura RDX a good car?
Yes — the 2022 Acura RDX earns a 4.6/5 user rating and a 7.83/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.
Owners consistently praise its smooth drive, comfortable interior, performance, features, and storage capacity. The RDX is framed as a practical luxury SUV that still feels engaging, with strong value for money and a polished overall quality.
The main trade-offs are its uncomfortable rear seat and unintuitive technology. In context, that means you should expect a well-rounded luxury SUV that works best if you value driving enjoyment and everyday usefulness over rear-seat comfort and interface simplicity.
Good and great deals account for 37.6% of listings, so there is still meaningful room to shop selectively.
Is the 2022 Acura RDX reliable?
Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
Drivers describe the RDX as smooth, comfortable, and high-quality, and the ownership feedback also points to a dependable-feeling package with strong satisfaction over time. The expert evaluation adds that the cabin feels quieter and the driving experience is more refined for 2022, which supports the impression of a well-sorted SUV.
Acura also adds sound-insulation improvements and other refinement updates that make the vehicle feel more settled in daily use. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about basic durability and more about whether the technology and comfort compromises fit your expectations.
What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Acura RDX?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still check the vehicle history report carefully, because accident-free listings are common but not universal. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with more equipment. Focus on cabin condition, electronics behavior, and whether the vehicle’s features work as intended.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The lineup includes the base model plus Technology, A-Spec, Advance, A-Spec Advance, and the limited-production PMC Edition. The base model is the most stripped-down version, while higher packages add more equipment and a quieter, more upscale feel.
- Powertrain: Every version uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 272 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard on the base, Technology, and A-Spec packages, while SH-AWD is standard on Advance and A-Spec Advance and available on some lower packages.
- Safety package: AcuraWatch is standard and includes pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring with lane-change assist, and rear cross-traffic alert. Technology and higher add front and rear parking sensors with low-speed automatic braking.
- Infotainment: The system uses a 10.2-inch display with a touchpad controller. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, along with a wireless charging pad, and Alexa Built-in helps reduce how often you need to use the interface.
- Fuel efficiency: The evaluation loop returned 20.6 mpg, and the model is rated at 23 mpg.
Which 2022 Acura RDX trim should I buy?
The 2022 Acura RDX is offered in 5 trim levels: base model, Technology, A-Spec, Advance, and A-Spec Advance.
Here's the short version:
- base model: This is the entry point if you want the lowest-cost way into the RDX lineup. It gives you the core turbocharged powertrain, standard AcuraWatch safety tech, wireless smartphone integration, and the basic luxury-SUV formula without the extra equipment found higher up.
- Technology: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the navigation system and a stronger audio setup while staying below the more expensive appearance and comfort packages. If you want a more complete daily-driver experience without stretching too far, this is the trim to target.
- A-Spec: Choose this if you want a sportier look and a more expressive feel without jumping all the way to the top of the range. It builds on the core package with a more distinctive presentation and sits between value and luxury flair.
- Advance: This is the comfort-focused upgrade, adding the adaptive-damping suspension and SH-AWD standard equipment. It suits you if ride quality, refinement, and all-weather traction matter more than keeping the price down.
- A-Spec Advance: This is the most fully equipped mainstream trim and the one that best showcases the RDX’s upscale side. It combines the sportier appearance with the comfort and chassis upgrades, but it also pushes pricing to the high end of the lineup.
With Technology and higher, the RDX adds front and rear parking sensors with low-speed automatic braking.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Acura RDX?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.
- Deal availability: 37.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,820 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.84% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 86.1% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $31,076, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2022 Acura RDX's resale value?
The current average of $31,221 sits slightly below last year's $33,513.
That price movement suggests the market has cooled enough to help you buy more selectively today. For a future seller, the current softness means resale value may not be as strong as it was a year ago, so condition and equipment will matter more when it’s time to list the vehicle.
The RDX still has appeal because it combines strong value, comfort, and driving enjoyment in a premium package. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2022 Acura RDX safe?
The 2022 Acura RDX earns a five-star overall crash-test rating from NHTSA, with four-star frontal-impact and rollover ratings and five-star side-impact ratings.
It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.
AcuraWatch is standard and includes pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring with lane-change assist, and rear cross-traffic alert. Technology and higher trims add front and rear parking sensors with low-speed automatic braking.
Acura also made structural upgrades to improve side-impact safety, but the IIHS had not yet published ratings for this model year in the provided data. The lane-keeping and lane-centering systems can also issue false warnings in some conditions, so you should test them during your own drive.
Should I buy a 2022 Acura RDX or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2022 if:
- 37.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.84% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It adds a quieter cabin, more equipment, and refined ride and handling.
Consider the 2021 if:
- At $27,633, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $31,221 average.
- It offers a polished cabin and strong driving dynamics.
Consider the 2023 if:
- At $35,369, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $31,221 average.
- It delivers strong performance, comfort, and a relatively affordable premium-SUV feel.
The bottom line: The 2022 is the right pick if you want the updated cabin, quieter ride, and strong value without moving up to a pricier newer model. If your priority is saving money, the 2021 is the better budget path; if you want to spend more for a newer-feeling alternative, the 2023 is the natural step up.
