How much does the 2022 Acura MDX cost?

Prices have softened 9.99% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,424 listings available, which suggests you have a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Acura MDX a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Acura MDX earns a 4.8/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel, Performance, Form and function, Cost effectiveness, Technology, and Safety.

Drivers consistently praise its handling, interior quality, and blend of luxury and practicality. The review summary also points to strong comfort and appealing aesthetics, which fits the MDX’s upscale, family-friendly mission. On the trade-off side, technology complaints and some feature omissions come up often, and the third row is cramped, so it works best if you value style and driving feel more than maximum passenger space.

The overview frames it as an all-new luxury three-row crossover with personality and value, so it makes sense if you want a premium SUV that feels more engaging than purely utilitarian. Good and great deals account for 34.4% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Acura MDX reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The review summary points to a vehicle that drivers see as dependable, with many describing it as a strong blend of luxury and practicality that they can count on. The expert writeup also emphasizes a solid, quality feel, plus a powertrain and chassis combination that work smoothly together over time. Acura’s note that the MDX is built with a higher percentage of high-strength steel and a stiffer structure adds to the sense of durability.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about basic dependability and more about whether the specific vehicle was maintained well and equipped the way you want.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Acura MDX?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because even a strong accident-free share does not guarantee the individual vehicle you’re considering has a clean past. Prioritize a thorough inspection of the third row, infotainment operation, and any features that matter to you, since the MDX’s appeal depends heavily on how well its luxury and tech equipment works in daily use. It also makes sense to focus on overall condition, because this model’s value proposition is strongest when the cabin, controls, and driving feel are all in good shape.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base MDX brings Jewel Eye LED headlights, a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, and a quality cabin, but the Tech Package adds navigation and a stronger audio system, while the A-Spec and Advance Packages bring more luxury and convenience features. The base trim is the most stripped-down version of the lineup, so you should compare equipment carefully if you want the best balance of value and features.
• Powertrain: The MDX uses a naturally aspirated 3.5-liter V6 with 290 horsepower and a 10-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard on the base MDX and Tech trims, while Super-Handling All-Wheel Drive is optional on those trims and standard on the higher trims.
• Safety package: AcuraWatch is standard and includes collision mitigation braking system, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, lane-keeping assist, road departure mitigation, traffic sign recognition, driver attention monitor, expanded pedestrian detection capability, and traffic-jam assist. The safety content also notes a low-speed braking control system with sonar-based detection and autonomous braking support.
• Infotainment: All MDX models get a 12.3-inch landscape-oriented infotainment screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Qi-compatible wireless charging, a WiFi hotspot, and over-the-air software and firmware updates. Navigation is standard on Tech and above, and the Tech Package gets an ELS Studio system with 12 speakers and 550 watts.
• Fuel efficiency: The MDX uses a 3.5-liter V6 with 290 horsepower, and the available SH-AWD system adds capability and torque-vectoring performance rather than efficiency gains.

Which 2022 Acura MDX trim should I buy?

The 2022 Acura MDX is offered in 4 trim levels: MDX, Tech Package, A-Spec Package, and Advance Package.

Here's the short version:

• MDX: This is the entry point, but it still gives you the core MDX experience, including the V6, 10-speed automatic, AcuraWatch, wireless smartphone integration, and the 12.3-inch display. It makes sense if you want the lowest starting price and can live without navigation and the richer audio and convenience upgrades.
• Tech Package: This is the best-value trim. It adds navigation and a stronger ELS Studio audio system, and the cost-effectiveness commentary specifically calls it the sweet spot in the lineup. If you want the most balanced mix of features and value, this is the one to target.
• A-Spec Package: This trim leans into style and sportier appearance, and it also brings the top-tier ELS Studio 3D Premium Audio System. It suits you if design and premium sound matter more than pure value.
• Advance Package: This is the luxury-focused choice, with the most upscale equipment in the lineup, including the head-up display and the available surround-view camera upgrade. It fits you best if you want the most comfort and convenience features.

AcuraWatch is standard across the lineup, so you do not need to move up a trim for the core safety suite.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Acura MDX?

This is a moderate market, so selective buyers should have room to find a solid deal.

• Deal availability: 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,424 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.99% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 83.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $33,238, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Acura MDX's resale value?

The current average of $33,239 sits slightly below last year's $36,927.

That softer pricing suggests the MDX has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price today. If you purchase near the lower end of the current range, you may reduce the amount of value left to lose before resale. Strong demand for well-equipped luxury SUVs can also help support pricing, especially when the vehicle has a clean history and desirable features.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Acura MDX safe?

The 2022 Acura MDX hasn’t yet received published crash-test ratings from IIHS or NHTSA in the provided data.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

AcuraWatch is standard on all MDX models and includes collision mitigation braking system, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, lane-keeping assist, road departure mitigation, traffic sign recognition, driver attention monitor, expanded pedestrian detection capability, and traffic-jam assist. The safety content also highlights a low-speed braking control system that can detect objects with sonar, warn the driver, and brake automatically if needed. A caveat to keep in mind is that the available crash-test results are not yet published in the provided data.

Should I buy a 2022 Acura MDX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.99% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It brings a new platform, new design, and a more assertive fourth-generation update.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $37,720, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $33,239 average.
• It adds complimentary AcuraLink connected services and scheduled maintenance.

The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2022 is the stronger buy because it already reflects a softer market and still delivers the fresh redesign. If you’re willing to pay more for added ownership perks, the 2023 is the better choice.
