How much does the 2021 Volvo XC60 cost?

There are 772 listings available, which gives you a decent amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2021 Volvo XC60 a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Volvo XC60 earns a 4.5/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its luxurious comfort, great safety features, and intuitive technology. The overview also points to a stylish, fun-to-drive, and comfortable SUV, which fits well if you want an upscale two-row crossover that still works for everyday use.

The main trade-offs are an unimpressive electric range and a ride that can get harsher with larger wheels. The market also shows 38.6% of listings as good or great deals, so you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2021 Volvo XC60 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a dependable-feeling ownership experience, with repeated praise for comfort, safety, and technology that owners can count on day to day. The expert evaluation also describes the XC60 as solid and secure on the road, with a cabin that stays serenely quiet and a suspension that smooths out bumps.

Volvo also recommends premium gasoline for all XC60 models, which is worth factoring into ownership costs. For used buyers, the biggest long-term risk is making sure any example you consider has been maintained carefully, especially if you want to avoid the rough-startup complaints some owners mention.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Volvo XC60?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the vehicle history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are comparing multiple trims or higher-mileage examples. Focus on overall condition, signs of wheel or suspension wear, and whether the technology and safety systems operate as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The XC60 lineup spans T5, T6, T8, and T8 Polestar Engineered versions, with the base T5 FWD Momentum starting the range and higher trims adding more equipment and a more upscale feel. The cabin is already a strong point at lower trims, but the top trims add larger wheels and more visual flair.
• Powertrain: You get a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with an eight-speed automatic, with T5 models making 250 horsepower, T6 models making 316 hp, and T8 plug-in hybrid versions adding an electric motor for 400 hp combined or 415 hp combined in Polestar Engineered form. T5 models can be front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, while T6 and T8 models are all-wheel drive only.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes blind-spot monitoring with steering assist, rear cross-traffic alert with automatic emergency braking, collision avoidance, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping aid, run-off road protection, run-off road mitigation, and a rear park assist camera. Pilot Assist is available, and the standard safety suite is especially strong even on lower trims.
• Infotainment: The XC60 uses a 9-inch portrait-style Sensus touchscreen with smartphone integration, including Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, and a WiFi hotspot. Owners should be aware that the system can take some learning, and some drivers wish for wireless CarPlay.
• Fuel efficiency: EPA figures range from 22 mpg city/29 mpg highway/25 mpg combined for the T5 FWD to 27 mpg combined for the T8 PHEV and 57 MPGe combined in electric-only mode.

Which 2021 Volvo XC60 trim should I buy?

Here's the short version:

• T5 FWD Momentum: This is the entry point and the best-value starting place if you want the XC60’s core luxury, safety, and style without paying for extra power or prestige features.
• T5 AWD Momentum: Choose this if you want the same value-oriented setup as the base trim but prefer all-wheel drive for added traction.
• T5 FWD R-Design: This trim adds a sportier look and feel, making it a better fit if style matters more to you than maximum value.
• T5 AWD R-Design: This is the better pick if you want the sportier appearance and all-wheel drive together.
• T5 FWD Inscription: This trim leans into the XC60’s upscale personality and suits you if you want a more premium-feeling cabin without stepping up to the pricier powertrains.
• T5 AWD Inscription: This is the more confidence-inspiring version of the luxury-focused trim if you want all-wheel drive with it.
• T6 AWD Momentum: This is the step-up choice for buyers who want more power and standard all-wheel drive while staying below the more expensive appearance-focused trims.
• T6 AWD R-Design: This is the better fit if you want stronger performance and a sportier presentation together.
• T6 AWD Inscription: This is the most upscale non-hybrid choice if you want the stronger T6 powertrain with a luxury-first setup.
• T8 eAWD Inscription: This is the plug-in hybrid choice for buyers who want electric driving capability and strong combined output in a luxury-oriented trim.
• T8 eAWD R-Design: Pick this if you want the plug-in hybrid powertrain with a sportier look.
• T8 eAWD Polestar Engineered: This is the top performance-oriented trim, with the strongest output in the lineup and the most distinctive hardware and presentation.

The standard safety package is already extensive, and Pilot Assist is available across the lineup.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Volvo XC60?

The market looks moderately favorable if you are a selective buyer.

• Deal availability: 38.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 772 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.18% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 83.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $23,919, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Volvo XC60's resale value?

The current average of $23,919 sits slightly below last year's $27,550.

That decline suggests the XC60 is currently in a softer pricing phase, which can be good news if you are buying now but less ideal if you are planning to sell soon. If prices continue to normalize, future sellers may need to be more competitive on condition, mileage, and equipment to stand out.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Volvo XC60 safe?

The 2021 Volvo XC60 was awarded a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), and the XC60 T5/T5 AWD and XC60 T6 AWD received five-star ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes LED headlights, blind-spot monitoring with steering assist, rear cross-traffic alert with automatic emergency braking, collision avoidance, low- and high-speed collision mitigation, vehicle/cyclist/large animal detection, driver alert control, run-off road protection, run-off road mitigation, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping aid, oncoming mitigation, front, side, and curtain airbags with a driver-side knee airbag, whiplash protection, rear park assist camera, and power child locks.

Pilot Assist is available, adding adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist for hands-on semi-autonomous driving support. The main caveat is that the five-star NHTSA result is specifically noted for the T5/T5 AWD and T6 AWD models.

Should I buy a 2021 Volvo XC60 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 38.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.18% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines luxury-level appointments, exceptional safety features, and a lusty powertrain.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $27,354, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $23,919 average.
• It adds new mild-hybrid powertrains and an Android-based infotainment system.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2021 is the smarter buy because pricing has softened and inventory is healthy. If you are willing to spend more for newer tech and updated powertrains, the 2022 is the cleaner upgrade path.
