Why it stands out
The 2021 Volkswagen Golf GTI has solidified its position as a premier hot hatch with a well-deserved reputation for blend performance and practicality. This model showcases an impressively powerful turbocharged 2.0-liter engine, producing 228 horsepower, which combined with its agile handling makes it a joy to drive on twisty roads. The GTI's sporty enhancements—such as its lower stance, sporty design elements, and well-appointed interior—set it apart from the standard Golf. Though it excels in performance and driving experience, buyers should be aware that it might sacrifice some comfort due to its stiff suspension, making everyday rides a bit harsher than some competitors. The Golf GTI is an embodiment of the hot hatch philosophy, offering an engaging driving experience while maintaining the versatility associated with hatchbacks.

The GTI line peaked at the mk7.5 model in terms of overall value. It’s got the best silhouette and cabin design in my opinion. And there’s plenty of technology to pair with the exceptional driving experience we’ve come to expect from the iconic 7-speed DSG 4 cylinder engine. If you’re like me, who isn’t too fond of the redesign of the mk8 both exterior and interior alike…I think the mk7 is the perfect option.
