How much does the 2021 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

There are 2,262 listings available, which gives you a solid pool to compare prices and equipment.

Is the 2021 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid a good car?

Yes — 4.82/5. It also earns an 8.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.

Drivers consistently praise its excellent gas mileage, spacious interior, and strong performance in different conditions. The review summary also points to the reliability and safety that help make it an easy SUV to live with, while higher trims add the kind of feature content many shoppers want.

The trade-offs are familiar: some buyers wish for standard navigation and power seats, and shorter drivers may notice the gas pedal position. In use, it fits best if you want compact-crossover practicality with more power and better efficiency than a non-hybrid approach.

36.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2021 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid reliable?

Owners rate it 4.82/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The review summary points to reliability, and it also describes the SUV as a vehicle many owners feel good about keeping for the long haul. The expert evaluation reinforces that dependability angle by noting that the hybrid setup saves fuel without giving up everyday usefulness, and it also mentions two years or 25,000 miles of free scheduled maintenance.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the hybrid system itself and more about finding a well-kept example with consistent maintenance and no hidden wear.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any candidate, even if the listing looks clean at first glance. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that checks the hybrid system, brakes, tires, and cabin electronics. Focus on overall condition and feature content, since trim differences can materially change what you get.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes LE, XLE, XLE Premium, XSE, and Limited. The XLE Premium adds a super chrome wheel finish, a power sunroof, SofTex leatherette upholstery, and dual-zone automatic climate control, while the Limited is the most fully equipped example discussed here. Base-trim shoppers should pay close attention to feature gaps, especially if you want more comfort and convenience equipment.
• Powertrain: The hybrid setup pairs a 2.5-liter four-cylinder gas engine with front and rear electric motors and a lithium-ion battery pack. It produces 219 horsepower, uses standard AWD, and is tuned for strong everyday efficiency with a combined 40 mpg figure.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is standard and includes adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, forward automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, lane-centering assist, automatic high-beam headlights, and road-sign recognition. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic warning are standard on all but the Hybrid LE, and rear automatic braking is exclusive to the Hybrid Limited.
• Infotainment: The RAV4 Hybrid uses either a 7-inch or 8-inch touchscreen. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa compatibility, and SiriusXM are standard, along with connected services and trial periods. The top system adds an 11-speaker JBL premium audio system, dynamic navigation, and voice recognition.
• Fuel efficiency: The hybrid is rated at 40 mpg in combined driving, and the expert test loop returned 39.7 mpg. The cost-effectiveness section also notes that it can save you about $340 annually versus the standard AWD version.

Which 2021 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid trim should I buy?

The 2021 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid is offered in 5 trim levels: LE, XLE, XLE Premium, XSE, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• LE: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the hybrid’s core efficiency, standard AWD, and standard safety tech at the lowest price. It’s the trim to target if value matters most and you can live without the extra comfort and convenience features found higher up.
• XLE: This is the sensible step-up choice for shoppers who want a better-equipped daily driver without jumping too far in price. It should appeal if you want a balanced mix of features and value.
• XLE Premium: This is the best-value trim for many buyers because it adds a power sunroof, SofTex leatherette upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a more upscale look and feel. If you want the sweet spot between price and equipment, this is the one to focus on.
• XSE: Choose this if you want a sportier feel, since it gets a sport-tuned suspension. It’s the trim for buyers who care more about driving character than maximum comfort.
• Limited: This is the most fully equipped version, and it’s the one to consider if you want the most premium experience and the strongest feature set. It also gets the exclusive rear automatic braking feature.

Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic warning are standard on all but the Hybrid LE, so that trim deserves extra scrutiny if those features matter to you.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid?

This is a moderate market, so you can shop selectively without expecting a deep bargain on every listing.

• Deal availability: 36.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,262 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 80.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $26,737, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid's resale value?

The current average of $28,465 sits slightly above last year's $28,301.

That small increase suggests the market has stayed stable rather than swinging sharply in either direction. For a future seller, that usually means you’re not fighting a steep depreciation drop in the near term. It also points to steady buyer interest, especially for a hybrid SUV with strong efficiency and broad appeal.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.82/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid safe?

The 2021 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid earns an overall rating of five stars from NHTSA, and the IIHS gives it top marks in all assessments except for its headlights.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is standard, and it includes adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, forward automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, lane-centering assist, automatic high-beam headlights, and road-sign recognition. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic warning are standard on all but the Hybrid LE, and rear automatic braking is reserved for the Hybrid Limited.

One caveat is that the lane-centering assistance can feel overly assertive, and the adaptive cruise control may leave more space than you’d like in traffic. The IIHS headlight result is also the main weak spot in an otherwise strong safety profile.

Should I buy a 2021 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 36.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.82/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds the new XLE Premium trim with more comfort and convenience equipment.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $26,825, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $28,465 average.
• It offers standard AWD, a roomy cabin, and strong efficiency.

The bottom line: Choose the 2021 if you want the stronger feature mix and a stable market with plenty of listings to compare. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2020 is the better value play, especially if you find one in clean condition with the equipment you want.
