I absolutely love my 2021 Toyota Camry. From the moment I got it, I honestly fell in love with it. The car looks sporty and modern, but at the same time it’s very comfortable and smooth to drive. It feels reliable and safe, which gives me a lot of confidence, especially as someone still getting used to driving more often. The fuel efficiency is great, and the interior is clean and well-designed. Everything feels solid and easy to use. It’s definitely a great value for the price. If I had to mention something, I wish it had push-button start, but overall I’m extremely happy with my purchase. I would definitely recommend this car to anyone looking for something reliable, stylish, and comfortable.

CarGurus tracks the prices of millions of used car listings every year. See how the average price of 2021 Toyota Camry prices has changed over time.
See more price trendsHow much does the 2021 Toyota Camry cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $22,059 |
| Year-Round Low | $20,998.18 |
| Year-Round High | $22,500.62 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $22,502 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −1.97% |
Prices have softened 1.97% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 3,264 listings available, which suggests healthy inventory for shoppers comparing trims and drivetrains.
If you find a listing below $20,998.18, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2021 Toyota Camry a good car?
Yes — 4.69/5 is a strong user rating for this model year, and the expert score is 7.83/10. The model scores 9/10 across Performance and Safety.
Drivers consistently praise the smooth ride, great handling, stylish design, fuel efficiency, and reliable performance. The main trade-offs are interior quality and infotainment, along with some noise at higher speeds.
That lines up with the Camry’s role as a practical midsize sedan for families and commuters, while still giving you a more engaging drive than many shoppers expect. With 30.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2021 Toyota Camry reliable?
Owners rate it 4.69/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The user feedback points to reliable performance, and the expert evaluation reinforces Toyota’s reputation for dependability and long-term ownership appeal. The expert write-up also notes that Toyota retains an excellent reputation for reliability, which has traditionally been one of the Camry’s biggest strengths.
For used buyers, the main risk is less about the powertrain reputation and more about finding a well-kept example with consistent maintenance and no hidden wear.
What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Toyota Camry?
At 63.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car sits near the low end of the market. Focus on bodywork quality, signs of prior repair, tire wear, brake condition, and whether the interior and infotainment system show the kind of wear that can affect daily use.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: LE and XLE models get a cleaner grille, while SE, XSE, and TRD trims add more aggressive styling but also more visual clutter. The base LE trim uses 17-inch alloy wheels, and the standard safety package is shared across the lineup, though blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are only standard on XLE and XSE.
- Powertrain: You get a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with FWD or AWD, a 3.5-liter V6, or a hybrid setup. The four-cylinder is efficient and available with AWD, while the V6 is stronger but limited to FWD.
- Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ is standard and includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, automatic high beams, and traffic-sign recognition. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are standard on XLE and XSE, and optional on LE and SE.
- Infotainment: The standard setup uses a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, Bluetooth, Siri Eyes Free voice control, and SiriusXM. Higher trims add a 9-inch screen, WiFi for five devices, navigation, and a nine-speaker JBL audio system, while XSE and XLE can also get a 10-inch head-up display.
- Fuel efficiency: The four-cylinder LE and SE return 32 mpg combined with FWD and 29 mpg combined with AWD. The V6 is rated at 26 mpg combined in XLE form, while the hybrid reaches up to 52 mpg combined.
Which 2021 Toyota Camry trim should I buy?
The 2021 Toyota Camry is offered in 6 trim levels: LE, XLE, SE, SE Nightshade Edition, XSE, and TRD.
Here's the short version:
- Base trim: LE is the value starting point, but it keeps the smaller 7-inch touchscreen and does not include standard blind-spot monitoring or rear cross-traffic alert.
- Sweet-spot trim: SE is the best all-around pick if you want a more engaging look and feel without jumping to the pricier upper trims.
- Premium/top trim: XSE gives you the richer tech and convenience mix, including the larger touchscreen and available head-up display, while XLE adds more comfort-oriented equipment.
- Off-road trim: TRD is the one to skip if you want the most typical daily-driver setup, since its performance focus is aimed more at enthusiasts than commuters.
Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ is standard across the lineup, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert becomes standard on XLE and XSE.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Toyota Camry?
This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it makes sense to compare listings carefully and move quickly on strong examples.
- Deal availability: 30.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 3,264 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 1.97% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 63.3% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $20,998.18, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2021 Toyota Camry's resale value?
The current average of $22,059 sits slightly below last year's $22,502.
That softer pricing can help you buy more carefully now, but it also means future resale may depend heavily on how well you preserve the car’s condition. If you keep mileage reasonable, maintain service records, and avoid accident history, you should be in a better position when it’s time to sell.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.69/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2021 Toyota Camry safe?
The 2021 Toyota Camry earned a “Top Safety Pick+” rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), and it also earned the highest five-star overall rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), with five-star ratings in front, side, and rollover crash tests.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ is standard and includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, automatic high beams, and traffic-sign recognition. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are standard on XLE and XSE, and optional on LE and SE.
The main caveat is that some of the more helpful driver-assistance features are not standard on every trim, so you should check equipment carefully if you’re shopping a lower-grade car.
Should I buy a 2021 Toyota Camry or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2021 if:
- 30.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 63.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 1.97% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.69/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2021 update adds Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ and refreshed infotainment.
Consider the 2020 if:
- At $20,538, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $22,059 average.
- It adds all-wheel drive and the TRD performance variant.
Consider the 2022 if:
- At $23,677, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $22,059 average.
- It continues the same formula with broad trim choice and Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+.
The bottom line: The 2021 Camry is the right pick if you want the updated safety tech and a strong mix of comfort, efficiency, and driving enjoyment. If your priority is the lowest purchase price, the 2020 is the better value play; if you want to spend more for a newer-year alternative, the 2022 is the natural next step.
