CarGurus Analysis: 2022 Toyota Camry
overall

Summary
With 204 currently listed for sale near Wichita, KS and an average price of $22,952.00, 67.2% of 2022 Toyota Camrys for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2022 Toyota Camry 4.88 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.17 / 10.
100.0% of 2022 Camry models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2022 Toyota Camry stands out as a straightforward choice for buyers who want a roomy, reliable, efficient, safe, and affordable car. It also has broad appeal because Toyota sold more than 310,000 Camrys in 2021, making it the third best-selling vehicle of that year that was not a pickup truck. For shoppers who like its styling, the Camry’s design is part of the package: if you like the way the 2022 Toyota Camry looks, you’ll likely like most other things about it.
What makes the 2022 Toyota Camry especially appealing is the mix of strengths it brings to the table. It offers an available V6 engine, standard advanced safety features, and excellent value for money. Owners also praise its reliability, fuel efficiency, stylish design, comfortable interior, and value. At the same time, it is not without drawbacks: the technology is described as outdated, the TRD trim does not feature a folding rear seat, and some drivers feel the four-cylinder engine lacks power.

I absolutely love the features of my car. The push start, sunroof, heated seats, heated steering wheel, and Apple CarPlay are all fantastic. For the value, the car is a great choice. Being a Toyota, its built to last and is also very fuel-efficient. Both the exterior and interior are incredibly clean, which adds to its appeal. That said, there are a couple of things I wish were different. I’d love if the car had memory seats, and the display screen could be a bit more modern, especially compared to the ones in the Toyota Highlanders. Another small inconvenience is that, unlike the Highlanders where Apple CarPlay connects wirelessly through Bluetooth, my car requires the phone to be plugged in for CarPlay to work. While this isnt a huge issue, it would be more convenient if it were wireless like in the Highlanders. Overall, it’s a really cute car and an amazing choice for a first car. Im really happy with it!

Smooth ride on the highway with great mpg. The shifting is a little hotter than I'm used to but you get used to it pretty quickly. The only thing it's missing is a physical pause/play button. Has all the controls except that one.

Great car. Like the styling on the outside which was a big reason. Most important though is reliability and safety.

| Year-Round High | $24,209.25 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $24,210 |

Prices have softened 2.23% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 4,611 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for comparison shopping. If you find a listing below $22,398.22, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2022 Toyota Camry a good car?
Yes — the 4.88/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction, and the expert rating is 7.17/10. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.
Owners consistently praise its reliability, fuel efficiency, and comfortable interior, and they also like the value for money and stylish design. The main trade-offs are the four-cylinder engine’s limited power and the dated-feeling technology. For you, that means the Camry makes the most sense if you want a practical midsize sedan that emphasizes comfort, efficiency, and everyday usability over excitement. It also shows 31.5% good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2022 Toyota Camry reliable?
Owners rate it 4.88/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
Owner feedback points to reliability, dependability, and trouble-free ownership as recurring strengths, along with strong fuel economy and comfort. The expert evaluation also describes it as a reliable, efficient, and affordable family car, and notes complimentary scheduled maintenance for the first two years of ownership. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a neglected example could erase those ownership advantages, so service history matters.
What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Toyota Camry?
At 72.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. Then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are considering a sportier trim or a higher-mileage example. Focus on overall condition, maintenance records, and whether the car’s equipment matches what you expect for the trim you are shopping.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base setup gets standard heated side mirrors and dual-zone automatic climate control on most trims, but the TRD is the exception for climate control. The TRD also stands out with more aggressive exterior styling and a performance-focused look.
- Powertrain: You can choose a four-cylinder engine, a V6 engine, or a gas-electric hybrid powertrain. The V6 delivers strong performance, while the hybrid can return more than 50 mpg in combined driving.
- Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ is standard and includes adaptive cruise control and lane-centering assistance. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is standard on the TRD but optional on LE and SE.
- Infotainment: The TRD comes standard with a 7-inch touchscreen, while a 9-inch screen is available. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, and SiriusXM are included, but dynamic connected navigation and voice recognition are not offered on the TRD.
- Fuel efficiency: The TRD is rated at 25 mpg combined, and the test result came in at 24.8 mpg. The hybrid powertrain can deliver more than 50 mpg in combined driving.
Which 2022 Toyota Camry trim should I buy?
The 2022 Toyota Camry is offered in 1 trim level: TRD.
Here's the short version:
- Base trim: The TRD is not the most feature-rich Camry, and its cabin can feel a little cheap and underwhelming compared with its performance image.
- Premium/top trim: The TRD is the standout choice if you want the V6, the track-tuned suspension, the more aggressive body kit, and the sport-focused hardware.
- Off-road trim: Not applicable here.
Close attention to the safety package is still worthwhile, since Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ is standard and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert comes standard on the TRD.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Toyota Camry?
This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.
- Deal availability: 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 4,611 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.23% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 72.5% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $22,398.22, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2022 Toyota Camry's resale value?
The current average of $23,672 sits slightly below last year's $24,210.
That price movement suggests the Camry has softened a bit, which can help you as a buyer today but may temper short-term resale upside for a future seller. Even so, the model’s strong reputation for reliability, efficiency, and comfort should help it stay in demand. Well-kept examples with clean history and strong equipment should hold value better than neglected ones.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.88/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2022 Toyota Camry safe?
It gets a “Top Safety Pick+” rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and nearly unheard of five-star ratings in every single evaluation the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) performs.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ is standard, and it includes adaptive cruise control and lane-centering assistance for highway driving support. Safety Connect is also standard, with automatic collision notification, an emergency assistance button, roadside assistance access, and a stolen vehicle locator. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is standard on the TRD but optional on LE and SE. One caveat is that the lane-keeping and adaptive cruise systems can feel overly intrusive at times.
Should I buy a 2022 Toyota Camry or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2022 if:
- 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 72.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.23% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.88/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2022 adds standard heated side mirrors, dual-zone climate control on most trims, and a stronger safety story.
Consider the 2021 if:
- At $21,897, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $23,672 average.
- It offers broad powertrain choice and a well-rounded midsize-sedan setup.
The bottom line: If you want the newer model year with strong safety, solid owner satisfaction, and a softer price trend, the 2022 is the better default choice. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2021 is the more budget-friendly path and still gives you many of the Camry strengths that matter most.
