CarGurus Analysis: 2021 Toyota Camry
overall

Summary
With 135 currently listed for sale near Denver, CO and an average price of $21,073.00, 20.0% of 2021 Toyota Camrys for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2021 Toyota Camry 4.65 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.83 / 10.

Why it stands out
The 2021 Toyota Camry remains a solid all-rounder, and its appeal comes from doing the basics well. Reliability and practicality have long been the Camry’s strengths, and this generation also brings more extroverted styling and a more engaging driving experience than the model’s traditional reputation might suggest. For 2021, Toyota added subtle styling tweaks, new infotainment displays, an upgrade to the Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ driver-aid package, changes to the dashboard trim, and it discontinued the Camry L trim level, making the Camry LE the new base trim.
What also sets the 2021 Toyota Camry apart is the breadth of choices it offers. It comes with three powertrains, six trim levels, and the choice of front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. In testing, the AWD SE Nightshade Edition sat near the middle of the lineup. The Camry’s strengths include comfort and spaciousness, while the TRD trim adds extra performance and style. On the downside, the infotainment system is described as outdated, and the base engine is called underwhelming.

I absolutely love my 2021 Toyota Camry. From the moment I got it, I honestly fell in love with it. The car looks sporty and modern, but at the same time it’s very comfortable and smooth to drive. It feels reliable and safe, which gives me a lot of confidence, especially as someone still getting used to driving more often. The fuel efficiency is great, and the interior is clean and well-designed. Everything feels solid and easy to use. It’s definitely a great value for the price. If I had to mention something, I wish it had push-button start, but overall I’m extremely happy with my purchase. I would definitely recommend this car to anyone looking for something reliable, stylish, and comfortable.

Is the 2021 Toyota Camry a good car?
Yes — the 2021 Toyota Camry earns a 4.65/5 user rating and a 7.83/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Performance and Safety.
Drivers consistently praise its smooth ride, great handling, and stylish design, and they also value its fuel efficiency and reliable performance. Those strengths line up with the Camry’s practical mission: it’s built to be comfortable, spacious, and easy to live with.
The trade-offs are familiar ones: the infotainment system feels outdated, and the base engine is described as underwhelming. Even so, the Camry’s broad lineup and everyday usability make it a strong fit if you want a midsize sedan that covers the basics well without feeling dull.
With 26.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive price if you shop carefully.
Is the 2021 Toyota Camry reliable?
Owners rate it 4.65/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
Drivers describe the Camry as reliable and dependable, and they highlight its trouble-free, long-term appeal. The expert evaluation also points to Toyota’s excellent reputation for reliability, which has traditionally been one of the Camry’s biggest strengths.
The powertrain lineup is built around proven hardware, and the overall driving experience is presented as well-rounded rather than fragile or finicky. Toyota’s warranty coverage is average for the class, so the main ownership question for used buyers is less about novelty and more about how well the car has been maintained.
For a used buyer, the biggest long-term risk is buying a neglected example, so service history matters.
What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Toyota Camry?
At 63% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. After that, prioritize a careful inspection of body panels, paint consistency, interior wear, and any signs that the car’s technology or safety systems have been tampered with or neglected.
Because the Camry’s appeal depends on being a dependable daily driver, condition matters as much as mileage. A clean, well-kept example is more likely to deliver the comfort, safety, and value that make this model year appealing.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: LE and XLE models get a cleaner grille, while SE, XSE, and TRD trims add more visual clutter with fake vents. The base LE also comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, while other models can wear 18-inch or 19-inch wheels. If you want the best-value balance of equipment and price, the LE is the trim to focus on first.
- Powertrain: The Camry offers a 2.5-liter four-cylinder, a 3.5-liter V6, and a hybrid setup. The four-cylinder is rated at 203 horsepower and 184 pound-feet with FWD, or 202 hp and 182 lb-ft with AWD; the V6 makes 301 hp and 267 lb-ft; and the hybrid totals 208 hp. The four-cylinder is the efficiency-minded choice, while the V6 and TRD bring more punch.
- Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ is standard and includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, automatic high beams, and traffic-sign recognition. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are standard on XLE and XSE, but optional on LE and SE.
- Infotainment: The standard setup uses a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, Bluetooth, Siri Eyes Free voice control, and SiriusXM. Higher trims get a 9-inch screen, WiFi for up to five devices, navigation, and a nine-speaker JBL system, while a 10-inch head-up display is available on XSE and XLE.
- Fuel efficiency: The four-cylinder LE and SE return 32 mpg combined with FWD and 29 mpg combined with AWD. The V6 is rated at 26 mpg combined in XLE form, and the hybrid reaches up to 52 mpg combined.
Which 2021 Toyota Camry trim should I buy?
The 2021 Toyota Camry is offered in 6 trim levels: LE, XLE, SE, SE Nightshade Edition, XSE, and TRD.
Here's the short version:
- LE: This is the best-value starting point if you want the Camry’s core strengths without paying for extras. It keeps the standard safety suite, the 7-inch touchscreen, and the efficient four-cylinder setup, while avoiding the price jump of the higher trims.
- XLE: Choose this if you want a more upscale feel and the added convenience of standard blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. It suits you best if comfort and feature content matter more than keeping the purchase price as low as possible.
- SE: This is the middle-ground choice if you want a sportier look without moving all the way up the range. It keeps the practical side of the Camry intact while adding more visual attitude.
- SE Nightshade Edition: Pick this if you want the SE formula with blacked-out exterior trim and wheels. It’s mainly for shoppers who care about appearance and want something a little less ordinary.
- XSE: This is the better choice if you want a more premium, better-equipped Camry with the larger touchscreen and available head-up display. It also gets standard blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.
- TRD: Buy this if you want the most performance-focused Camry. It pairs the V6 with chassis upgrades, bigger brakes, and available summer tires, so it’s the trim for drivers who care most about the sporty side of the car.
Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are standard on the XLE and XSE, but optional on the LE and SE.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Toyota Camry?

- Deal availability: 26.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 3,133 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.31% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 63.0% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $21,001.46, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2021 Toyota Camry's resale value?
The current average of $21,786 sits slightly below last year's $22,300.
That price movement suggests the Camry has softened enough to help buyers now, but it also means future sellers may need to be realistic about pricing. If you buy well and keep the car in strong condition, you’re more likely to preserve value than if you overpay for a rough example.
The Camry’s broad appeal, strong reputation, and steady demand should help it remain easy to resell. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.65/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2021 Toyota Camry safe?
The 2021 Toyota Camry earned a Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS and the highest five-star overall rating from NHTSA, with five-star ratings in front, side, and rollover crash tests.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ is standard, and it includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, automatic high beams, and traffic-sign recognition. Toyota also adds Rear Seat Reminder on all trim levels.
Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are standard on XLE and XSE, but optional on LE and SE. That means lower trims still get a strong core safety package, but you may want to verify whether the extra driver-assistance features are included on the specific car you’re considering.
Should I buy a 2021 Toyota Camry or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2021 if:
- 26.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 63% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.31% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.65/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It adds updated infotainment displays and Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ while keeping the Camry’s broad powertrain and trim lineup.
Consider the 2020 if:
- At $20,508, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $21,786 average.
- It adds all-wheel drive and the TRD trim, broadening the lineup.
Consider the 2022 if:
- At $23,489, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $21,786 average.
- It keeps the Camry’s roomy, reliable, efficient formula with broad appeal.
The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, safety, and everyday usability, the 2021 is the smart default. If your budget is tighter, the 2020 can save you money while still giving you AWD and TRD availability. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer alternative, the 2022 is the cleaner next step, but the 2021 remains the value sweet spot.
