Overview

Though sedans, in general, are a dying breed here in the United States, some automakers have stuck to their guns with updated sedans, hatchbacks, and coupes. Mitsubishi is one such company, and it has overhauled its Mirage lineup for the 2021 model year.
Mitsubishi updated the Mirage G4 with a revised front bumper and “Dynamic Shield” grille design. This adds a sporty touch to the otherwise bland economy car, making it look more youthful and fun than its diminutive power output might suggest. Mitsubishi says the updates also move the car closer to the brand’s crossover design language.
On the rear, the Mirage G4 gets standard L-shaped LED taillights that run from bumper-to-bumper The rear valance has been made larger to help the car further embrace its new, sportier looks. White Diamond and Sand Yellow join the color palette for the new year as well. Like its sibling, the Mirage, the G4 lineup will be joined by a new Carbonite Edition for 2021. The trim features a new front air dam, exclusive grille, updated side air dam, b-pillar decals, and an exclusive rear air dam.
All 2021 Mirage G4 models come standard with a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen. The unit runs Apple CarPlay and Android Auto standard. Mirage G4 ES models see more updates inside, which include a premium soft-touch cloth upholstery, carbon fiber accents, and new front armrests.
All Mirage G4 models are powered by a 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine. It makes 78 horsepower and 74 pound-feet of torque through either the standard five-speed manual gearbox or an available continuously variable transmission (CVT). Front-wheel drive (FWD) is standard, as is incredible fuel economy. The Mirage G4 is rated at 36/43/39 mpg city/highway/combined.
Every Mirage G4 also gets Mitsubishi’s long powertrain warranty. Coverage stretches for 10 years or 100,000 miles and is accompanied by a five-year/60,000-mile limited warranty and a seven-year/100,000-mile corrosion warranty. Five years of roadside assistance is also standard for all Mirage models.
The Mirage G4, though slightly more expensive than its Mirage counterpart, is still quite affordable to purchase. The base ES trim with five-speed manual transmission starts at $16,290 after a $995 destination charge. Adding a CVT will cost an extra $1,300 and the range-topping SE model has a starting price of $19,190.

This car is probably the most lethargic car I’ve ever driven. The only real saving grace is that the 2021 and above model years come with a frontal collision avoidance system. Nothing else really impressed me. The Nissan Versa comes with many more safety features and a not much more in price.

Is the 2021 Mitsubishi Mirage G4 a good car?
The 2021 Mitsubishi Mirage G4 is a mixed-value pick that can make sense if you prioritize affordability and are comfortable being selective about condition. Its 2.5/5 user rating suggests you should go in with realistic expectations, and the market also shows a limited share of standout pricing opportunities. 21.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Mitsubishi Mirage G4?
At 65.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. Put inspection priority on body panels, paint matching, alignment, and signs of uneven wear that could point to past collision work. Focus on overall condition and maintenance records, since the best value here is likely to come from a clean, well-kept example.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Mitsubishi Mirage G4?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find some worthwhile options.
- Deal availability: 21.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 96 listings available.
- Clean inventory: 65.6% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $10,204.28, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Should I buy a 2021 Mitsubishi Mirage G4 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2021 if:
- 21.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 65.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
The bottom line: The 2021 is worth targeting if you want a low-cost sedan and are willing to be selective about condition and history. If you’re price-sensitive, the best move is to focus on the cleanest listings first and only stretch for a car that clearly stands out on price and documentation.
