How much does the 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLA cost?

Prices have softened 11.57% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 326 listings available, which suggests you have a workable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLA a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLA earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.7/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Technology.

The CLA is presented as a small luxury car that finally delivers the polish buyers expect from the badge, with sharp styling, energetic performance, and a high-class interior. It fits best if you want style, tech, and driving enjoyment in a compact package.

The main trade-offs are a cramped back seat and poor value for money.

The market also shows 35.6% good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLA reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The CLA is described as a significant improvement over the earlier version, with a more polished cabin and stronger overall execution than before. Its turbocharged four-cylinder lineup and modern interface suggest a car that feels more mature than the model it replaced.

The performance notes point to a well-weighted steering feel and quick turn-in, while the tech setup is designed to reduce distraction once you learn it. If you buy used, the biggest long-term ownership risk is ending up with a car that was not maintained carefully or was equipped without the features you want.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLA?

At 73.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has had any prior damage. Focus on overall condition, feature operation, and whether the car has the equipment you expect for the trim level you’re considering.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The CLA 250 includes dual-zone automatic climate control, remote start, synthetic leather upholstery, five USB ports, power-adjustable sport seats, and HD radio, while the AMG CLA 35 and AMG CLA 45 add the Premium Package equipment. The base trim is the one most likely to leave you wanting the larger screens and added convenience features.
• Powertrain: The CLA 250 uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 221 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, while the AMG CLA 35 and AMG CLA 45 step up to 302 hp and 382 hp, respectively. The lineup pairs that engine with dual-clutch transmissions and either front-wheel drive or available 4Matic all-wheel drive, depending on trim.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, blind-spot monitoring, driver attention monitoring, and crosswind assist. The Driver Assistance package adds adaptive cruise control, rear collision braking, lane departure warning, and rear cross-traffic alert, so you should check whether a used example has that package.
• Infotainment: The standard setup uses 7-inch digital and center displays, while the available Premium Package upgrades both to 10.25-inch screens and adds satellite radio. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, but wireless CarPlay and Android Auto are not available.
• Fuel efficiency: The base FWD CLA 250 returns 25 mpg city, 35 mpg highway, and 29 mpg combined, while the 4Matic version returns 24 mpg city, 33 mpg highway, and 27 mpg combined.

Which 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLA trim should I buy?

The 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLA is offered in 3 trim levels: CLA 250, AMG CLA 35, AMG CLA 45.

Here's the short version:

• CLA 250: This is the best-value choice if you want the CLA’s style, tech, and efficiency without paying for the performance upgrades. It already brings the core luxury features and the strongest fuel economy in the lineup.
• AMG CLA 35: This is the step-up pick if you want more power and a more performance-focused feel while keeping the CLA’s modern cabin and tech. It makes sense if you care more about driving character than maximizing value.
• AMG CLA 45: This is the choice for buyers who want the most powerful version and the quickest acceleration in the range. It suits you best if performance is the priority and you’re willing to pay for it.

The safety content points to a solid standard driver-assistance suite, but several helpful features still require optional packages.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLA?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully and still find opportunities.

• Deal availability: 35.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 326 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.57% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 73.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $23,406, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLA's resale value?

The current average of $23,526 sits slightly below last year's $26,605.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at the right price and keep the car in strong condition, you can reduce the impact of that softer trend. A well-equipped example with clean history should be easier to move later than one with missing features or prior damage.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLA safe?

The 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLA earns a Good IIHS result and a five-star overall rating from NHTSA.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The CLA-Class comes with a solid list of standard driver assistance features, including automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, blind-spot monitoring, and a driver attention monitor. It also includes crosswind assist for added stability in gusty conditions.

If you want more advanced protection, the Driver Assistance package adds adaptive cruise control, rear collision braking, lane departure warning, and rear cross-traffic alert. Some useful safety upgrades still require extra packages, so you should verify equipment carefully on any used example.

Should I buy a 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLA or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 35.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 73.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.57% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 model carries forward the improved cabin, sharp styling, and energetic performance from the redesigned CLA.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $20,748, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $23,526 average.
• It was redesigned for 2020 and brought a more upscale, sensible take on the CLA formula.

The bottom line: If you want the better-rounded version of this car, the 2021 is the safer pick because it benefits from the improved redesign and still shows meaningful market softness. If your priority is spending less, the 2020 is the value path and still delivers the core CLA appeal.
