Used 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLA for Sale nearChicago, IL

How much does the 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLA cost?

Prices have softened 11.47% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 325 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLA a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLA earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.7/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Technology.

The CLA stands out as a compact luxury sedan with sharp styling, energetic performance, and a high-class interior. It is especially appealing if you want a premium-feeling car with an advanced user interface and a strong personality.

The trade-offs are clear: the back seat is cramped, and the car is considered poor value for money. That makes it a better fit if you care more about style, driving enjoyment, and upscale presentation than rear-seat space or bargain pricing.

35.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLA reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The CLA’s current version is described as a major improvement over the original model, with a more legitimate luxury feel than earlier versions. It also pairs that progress with a high-class interior and modern technology, which supports confidence in everyday ownership.

Its turbocharged engine lineup and well-integrated cabin tech suggest a car that feels thoughtfully developed rather than compromised. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a premium small car can still be costly to live with if you want the best equipment and features.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLA?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has optional equipment or package content. Focus on overall condition, because a compact luxury sedan like this can hide expensive wear in the cabin, electronics, or suspension feel.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The CLA 250 is the most accessible version, while the AMG CLA 35 and AMG CLA 45 add more equipment and performance. The base trim already includes dual-zone automatic climate control, remote start, synthetic leather upholstery, five USB ports, power-adjustable sport seats, and HD radio, so you should compare whether the higher trims’ added content is worth the jump.
• Powertrain: The CLA 250 uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 221 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic and front-wheel drive or available 4Matic all-wheel drive. The AMG CLA 35 and AMG CLA 45 use higher-output turbo-four setups, with the CLA 45 reaching 382 hp and 354 lb-ft.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, blind-spot monitoring, driver attention monitor, and crosswind assist. The Driver Assistance package adds adaptive cruise control, rear collision braking, lane departure warning, and rear cross-traffic alert, while adaptive headlights and parking aids are also available.
• Infotainment: The standard MBUX system uses a 7-inch digital instrument panel and 7-inch center touchscreen, with available 10.25-inch screens through the Premium Package. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, but wireless CarPlay and Android Auto are not available.
• Fuel efficiency: The CLA 250 returns an EPA-estimated 25 mpg city and 35 mpg highway, while the 4Matic version returns 24 mpg city and 33 mpg highway.

Which 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLA trim should I buy?

The 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLA is offered in 3 trim levels: CLA 250, AMG CLA 35, AMG CLA 45.

Here's the short version:

• CLA 250: This is the best-value choice if you want the CLA’s sharp styling, strong tech, and premium cabin without paying for extra performance you may not need. It already brings the core luxury features and the most efficient fuel economy in the lineup.
• AMG CLA 35: This trim is for you if you want a clear step up in performance and still want the CLA’s modern interior and technology. It adds more power and keeps the upscale equipment, but it makes the most sense if driving enjoyment matters more than value.
• AMG CLA 45: This is the choice if you want the most powerful and most performance-focused CLA. It brings the highest-output engine and the quickest acceleration in the range, but it is the least practical option if you are trying to keep costs in check.

The Driver Assistance package adds several useful safety features, so it is worth considering on any trim if you want more driver support.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLA?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully and still find opportunities.

• Deal availability: 35.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 325 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.47% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 77.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $23,373, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLA's resale value?

The current average of $23,373 sits slightly below last year's $26,402.

That price movement suggests the CLA has become more accessible for used buyers, but it also means future sellers may face a softer market than they would have a year ago. If you buy at the current average or below, you may have less room for appreciation, so condition and trim choice matter more.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLA safe?

The 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLA earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The CLA comes with automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, blind-spot monitoring, driver attention monitoring, and crosswind assist as standard equipment. If you want more advanced protection, the Driver Assistance package adds adaptive cruise control, rear collision braking, lane departure warning, and rear cross-traffic alert.

That package-based structure means you should check carefully for the features you want, since several useful safety upgrades are not standard. The CLA’s safety setup is solid, but you may need to pay extra to get the fuller suite of driver assistance features.

Should I buy a 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLA or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 35.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.47% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 CLA carries forward the improved, high-class interior and sharp styling from the redesigned model.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $20,847, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $23,373 average.
• It offers a redesigned, more upscale feel with strong ride quality and useful voice commands.

The bottom line: If you want the better current-market balance of price, inventory, and owner satisfaction, the 2021 is the cleaner pick. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2020 is the more budget-friendly route and still delivers the CLA’s core appeal.
