Is the 2021 Mazda CX-30 a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Mazda CX-30 earns a 4.8/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Mazda also includes three free years of Mazda Connected Services, which adds some ownership convenience.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright durability and more about whether the specific vehicle has been maintained and equipped the way you want.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Mazda CX-30?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 75.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a vehicle history report on any listing you like, even if it looks clean on paper. Prioritize a close inspection of the cabin, visibility, and rear-seat usability, since those are the areas where this model’s compromises are most likely to matter in daily use. It also makes sense to check that the technology and driver-assistance features work as expected, especially on higher-trim examples.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The cabin has an upscale vibe with quality materials, complementary tones and textures, and stitched chocolate brown surfaces, while Premium and Premium Plus add black or white leather, a navigation system, SiriusXM satellite radio, a 12-speaker Bose premium audio system, and an Active Driving Display. The base setup is simpler, so you should compare equipment carefully if you want the more premium feel.
• Powertrain: The turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder pairs with a six-speed automatic transmission and standard i-Activ all-wheel drive. It delivers strong acceleration and uses G-Vectoring Control Plus, but the review also notes that fuel economy is 25 mpg in combined driving and that the vehicle is not focused on hardcore performance.
• Safety package: Every CX-30 Turbo gets the i-ActiveSense advanced driver-assistance suite, plus mobile 9-1-1 automatic emergency notification. Premium trim adds adaptive front lighting, and Premium Plus adds front and rear parking sensors, rear automatic braking at speeds under 6 mph, a surround-view camera system, and Traffic Jam Assist. There is no high-speed lane-centering assistance function.
• Infotainment: The dashboard features an 8.8-inch display that is not a touchscreen. Standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, and Mazda Connected Services adds remote engine starting and a vehicle finder function. Premium and Premium Plus also add a navigation system and Bose audio.
• Fuel efficiency: The turbo model is rated at 25 mpg in combined driving, and the review says the average observed fuel economy was 24.1 mpg.

Which 2021 Mazda CX-30 trim should I buy?

The 2021 Mazda CX-30 is offered in 1 trim level: Turbo.

Here's the short version:

The Turbo is the clear choice here because the available content describes one well-equipped version with strong acceleration, standard all-wheel drive, and a premium-feeling cabin. It suits you best if you want the CX-30’s upscale design and technology without stepping up to a luxury badge. Premium and Premium Plus equipment add meaningful convenience and safety upgrades, so those are the versions to target if you want the most complete package.

The safety package is broad across the lineup, with i-ActiveSense standard and additional driver-assistance features added on higher trims.

• Inventory: There are 906 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.15% compared with last year.

What is the 2021 Mazda CX-30's resale value?

The current average of $19,093 sits slightly below last year's $20,343.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may temper future resale gains if you plan to sell later. The current pricing also sits near the lower end of the year-round range, which means there may be less room for appreciation unless demand strengthens. Strong owner satisfaction can still help support used-market interest over time.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Mazda equips every CX-30 Turbo with the i-ActiveSense advanced driver-assistance suite, and the review says those systems are effective without being irritating. Standard equipment also includes mobile 9-1-1 automatic emergency notification. Premium trim adds adaptive front lighting, while Premium Plus adds front and rear parking sensors, rear automatic braking, a surround-view camera system, and Traffic Jam Assist. The main caveat is that there is no high-speed lane-centering assistance function.

Should I buy a 2021 Mazda CX-30 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 32.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 75.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.15% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It blends mainstream practicality with a more premium feel than many small crossover SUVs.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $18,492, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $19,093 average.
• It adds extra ground clearance and easier entry and exit.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $22,077, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $19,093 average.
• It brings a more upscale cabin and more spacious interior.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, satisfaction, and premium feel, the 2021 is the strongest all-around pick. If your priority is spending less, the 2020 is the better value path; if you want a newer-feeling cabin and can pay more, the 2022 is worth a look.
