Based on the Mazda3 platform, the 2020 Mazda CX-30 compact crossover offers two distinct advantages over the car on which it is based. The first is extra ground clearance for navigating snowstorms and light-difficulty trails. The second is easier entry and exit because the CX-30 sits higher off the ground. In exchange for these benefits, the CX-30 dilutes the brilliant design and driving dynamics for which the Mazda3 is revered. But it still looks and drives better than most of its competition.

We love the CX-30. Its the perfect size. The interior is very nice, like a more expensive car. The four cylinder, non turbo, engine is very peppy with good gas mileage. The only thing it doesnt have that my previous car had is the ability to change the number of turn signal blinks on a momentary activation. Its 3 blinks and cant be changed. Nitpicking possibly.
Great value and the best car in the small SUV class. The car comes nicely optioned at the lower levels; we went with the Select. The Mazda design language is sublime; the interior is better designed than BMW and Audi. The interior materials much nicer than one would expect under 30K; in fact youd have to spend more like 50K to get better interior quality. My spouse and I are design professionals so our review leans in that direction.
It’s an amazing car- lots of bells and whistles that I need to learn about. But I’ve wanted a Mazda SUV for awhile and this CX-30 came up and we grabbed it. I’m very happy!
