How much does the 2021 Lexus NX cost?

Prices have softened 1.45% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 980 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2021 Lexus NX a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Lexus NX earns a 4.8/5 user rating and a 7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 8/10.

Owners consistently praise its stylish design, comfortable interior, and quiet cabin, and they also highlight its safety features. The overview points to the same core appeal: good looks, high-quality interior touches, and a calm driving environment. The main trade-offs are a cheap-feeling interior in some areas and poor handling, so it fits you best if you value comfort and style more than sharp dynamics. With 39.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still meaningful market opportunity if you shop carefully.

Is the 2021 Lexus NX reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with buyers especially appreciating the NX’s long-term appeal and safety features. The expert review also describes the model as a traditional Lexus with a historically strong reliability reputation and notes that it is built around long-established Lexus driving norms. Lexus includes a maintenance-alert service and a three-year trial of remote app features, which can make ownership easier to manage. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright durability and more about whether the vehicle has been maintained well enough to preserve that Lexus reputation.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Lexus NX?

At 71.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on signs of prior bodywork, uneven panel gaps, interior wear, and any evidence that the infotainment or driver-assistance systems have been neglected or repaired poorly. Because this model is often bought for comfort and premium feel, condition matters a lot.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The NX 300 comes in base and Luxury trims, while the NX 300 F Sport adds a sportier appearance with a honeycomb grille, triple-beam LED headlights, 18-inch wheels, and quilted NuLuxe sport seats. The base trim already includes power-folding mirrors and 17-inch wheels, so you should compare whether the F Sport styling and interior upgrades are worth the extra cost for you.
• Powertrain: The NX 300 and NX 300 F Sport use a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 235 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is available on every trim level.
• Safety package: Lexus Safety System+ 2.0 is standard and includes a rearview camera, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, traffic-sign recognition, automatic high beams, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, and adaptive cruise control. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are standard too, while park assist, a surround-view camera system, and adaptive headlights are optional.
• Infotainment: A standard 8-inch touchscreen is included, with a 10.3-inch screen available through the Navigation package. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and the Navigation package also adds predictive traffic information, HomeLink, and Lexus Enform Destination Assist.
• Fuel efficiency: The NX 300 gets 22 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway with front-wheel drive, while all-wheel drive keeps the same city and highway figures but lowers combined efficiency to 24 mpg.

Which 2021 Lexus NX trim should I buy?

The 2021 Lexus NX is offered in 3 trim levels: NX 300, NX 300 F Sport, and NX 300 Luxury.

Here's the short version:

• NX 300: This is the best-value choice if you want the NX’s core strengths without paying for extra styling or luxury upgrades. You still get the turbocharged 235-horsepower engine, standard safety tech, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and the quiet, comfortable character that defines the model.
• NX 300 F Sport: Choose this if you want the sportiest look and the most distinctive cabin presentation. It adds the aggressive exterior treatment, 18-inch wheels, quilted NuLuxe sport seats, and the available Circuit Red interior, but the review makes clear that its driving character is still more comfortable cruiser than performance SUV.
• NX 300 Luxury: This is the trim to target if you want the most upscale feel and are willing to pay more for it. It is the top-tier path in this lineup, so it makes the most sense if interior refinement matters more to you than value.

Safety-package note: park assist, a surround-view camera system, and adaptive headlights are optional extras rather than standard equipment.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Lexus NX?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you know what you want.

• Deal availability: 39.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 980 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.45% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 71.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $27,446, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Lexus NX's resale value?

The current average of $28,254 sits slightly below last year's $28,669.

That softer pricing suggests the NX has become a bit easier for buyers to access, which can help keep demand steady in the used market. For a future seller, that means you may not see rapid appreciation, but you can still benefit from a model that remains recognizable and desirable. The NX’s strong owner satisfaction should help support buyer interest when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Lexus NX safe?

The 2021 Lexus NX earns top "Good" scores from IIHS and a five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Lexus Safety System+ 2.0 is standard, and it includes a rearview camera, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, traffic-sign recognition, automatic high beams, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, and adaptive cruise control. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are standard too, which strengthens the base safety package. Park assist, a surround-view camera system, and adaptive headlights are optional, so some of the more advanced features still depend on trim or equipment choices.

Should I buy a 2021 Lexus NX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 39.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 71.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.45% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It keeps the familiar Lexus formula of style, comfort, and a quiet cabin while still offering standard advanced safety tech.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $34,888, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $28,254 average.
• It brings a redesigned, more attractive, more dynamic, and more technologically advanced SUV.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2021 is the smarter buy because it delivers the core NX experience at a much lower average price. If you care more about newer design and technology than upfront cost, the 2022 is the upgrade path to consider.
