Used 2021 Lexus NX Hybrid for Sale nearChicago, IL

How much does the 2021 Lexus NX Hybrid cost?

Prices have softened 4.46% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 148 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2021 Lexus NX Hybrid a good car?

It’s a mixed but defensible choice if you value comfort, style, and efficiency more than modern polish, and the expert score of 6.17/10 reflects that balance. The user rating is 3.67/5, and the standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

The NX Hybrid’s appeal comes from its stylish design, comfortable ride, and fuel-efficient nature, while its older platform makes it harder to keep up with fresher rivals. The trade-offs are clear: the interior materials feel cheap, performance is sluggish, and cargo space is limited.

For shoppers who want a compact luxury SUV that prioritizes comfort and efficiency, it still makes sense to consider. The market also shows 43.9% of listings as good or great deals, which suggests there are opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2021 Lexus NX Hybrid reliable?

The 2021 Lexus NX Hybrid has no major faults, and its hybrid setup is geared more toward efficiency than excitement. The powertrain uses a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with an electric motor, and the hybrid system is backed by an eight-year, 100,000-mile warranty for hybrid components, including the battery pack.

It also gets a four-year, 50,000-mile basic warranty and a six-year, 70,000-mile powertrain warranty, which helps reduce early ownership risk. The performance notes point to a drivetrain that can feel clunky under hard acceleration, but the overall package is still oriented around dependable daily use rather than high-strung complexity.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that an older design can age less gracefully than newer rivals, so condition and maintenance history matter more than the badge alone.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Lexus NX Hybrid?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the report carefully, because a clean listing percentage doesn’t replace a proper history review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on interior wear, infotainment operation, and how the hybrid drivetrain behaves in normal driving. Since the NX Hybrid is an older design, condition matters a lot more than mileage alone.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base hybrid trim gives you the core NX Hybrid experience, while the Luxury trim adds real leather upholstery. The F Sport Black Line treatment adds sportier styling elements, heated steering wheel, aluminum pedals, and NuLuxe upholstery with blue contrast stitching, but those items are part of the special package rather than the standard hybrid setup.
• Powertrain: The hybrid system pairs a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine running on the Atkinson cycle with an electric motor for a total of 194 horsepower, and it comes with standard all-wheel drive. It is tuned more for fuel efficiency than quick acceleration.
• Safety package: Lexus Safety System+ 2.0 is standard and includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning with steering assist, automatic high beams, traffic-sign recognition, and Lane Tracing Assist. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are also standard for 2021.
• Infotainment: The standard system uses an 8-inch display, with a 10.3-inch display optional. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, Amazon Alexa compatibility, and a built-in WiFi hotspot are included, but there is no touchscreen.
• Fuel efficiency: The NX Hybrid is rated at 31 mpg combined (33 mpg city, 30 mpg highway), and real-world testing returned 28.9 mpg.

Which 2021 Lexus NX Hybrid trim should I buy?

The 2021 Lexus NX Hybrid is offered in 2 trim levels: base and Luxury.

Here's the short version:

• base: This is the trim to target if you want the NX Hybrid’s core strengths without paying extra for luxury upgrades. It gives you the standard hybrid powertrain, all-wheel drive, and the full safety suite, so it covers the essentials well.
• Luxury: Choose this if you want a more upscale cabin, since it adds real leather upholstery. It makes the NX Hybrid feel more premium, but the value case is strongest if that interior upgrade matters to you.

The standard safety package is a strong point across the lineup, with Lexus Safety System+ 2.0 and newly standard blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Lexus NX Hybrid?

This looks like a buyer-friendly market if you’re shopping carefully, because pricing has eased and there’s enough inventory to compare options.

• Deal availability: 43.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 148 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.46% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 77.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $29,492, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Lexus NX Hybrid's resale value?

The current average of $30,931 sits slightly below last year's $32,373.

That decline suggests the NX Hybrid has softened in the used market, which can help you as a buyer today. For a future seller, it means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the vehicle has been maintained.

Because the model is already priced below its year-ago average, depreciation pressure is still part of the story. If you buy at the right price and keep the vehicle in strong shape, you’ll be in a better position when it’s time to sell.

Is the 2021 Lexus NX Hybrid safe?

The 2021 Lexus NX Hybrid received a Top Safety Pick+ award from IIHS and a five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA, with five-star ratings in side crash tests and four-star ratings in frontal crash and rollover tests.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Lexus Safety System+ 2.0 is standard, and it includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning with steering assist, automatic high beams, traffic-sign recognition, and Lane Tracing Assist. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are also standard for 2021.

The main safety caveat is that the LATCH child-seat anchor ease-of-use rating is only acceptable, and there’s no 360-degree camera system.

Should I buy a 2021 Lexus NX Hybrid or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 43.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.46% compared with last year.
• The 2021 stands out for its strong safety credentials, including a Top Safety Pick+ award and a 9/10 expert safety score.

The bottom line: The 2021 is the right pick if you want the NX Hybrid’s comfort, efficiency, and safety in a market that currently favors buyers. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you can use the softened pricing and decent inventory to negotiate hard, but you should still prioritize condition and equipment over chasing the cheapest example.
