Used 2021 Lexus GX for Sale near New Mexico

How much does the 2021 Lexus GX cost?

Prices have softened 1.58% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 804 listings available, which gives you a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2021 Lexus GX a good car?

Generally — the 2021 Lexus GX earns a 4.17/5 user rating and a 5.33/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 7/10.

Owners consistently praise its luxury, dependability, beautiful design, interior, and quiet driving experience. The GX also fits you well if you want a traditional SUV with real off-road capability rather than a car-based crossover.

The trade-offs are clear: poor fuel economy, poor handling, and outdated technology. It also asks you to accept a more old-school driving experience than most modern luxury SUVs.

With 36.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2021 Lexus GX reliable?

Owners rate it 4.17/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners describe the GX as dependable and trouble-free, and they repeatedly point to its long-term appeal and reputation for reliability. The expert evaluation also frames it as a vehicle with Lexus’s excellent reputation for reliability, which matters if you plan to keep it for years.

It also benefits from Lexus’s four-year, 50,000-mile basic warranty and six-year, 70,000-mile powertrain warranty. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is accepting aging technology and higher running costs in exchange for durability.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Lexus GX?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 76% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any candidate, even if the listing looks clean. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on wear, electronics, and signs of hard use, since this is a truck-based luxury SUV with a more traditional design. Pay close attention to condition, because the GX’s appeal depends heavily on how well it has been maintained.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base trim is the most stripped-down version, while Premium adds more visual and comfort appeal, and Luxury brings the most upscale feel. The Premium trim gets standard silver 18-inch wheels, and the Luxury trim adds semi-aniline leather upholstery.
• Powertrain: You get a single 4.6-liter V8 with 301 horsepower and 329 pound-feet of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. It delivers strong low-speed grunt, but the GX is heavy and not quick by modern standards.
• Safety package: Lexus Safety System+ is standard, with forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, automatic high beams, lane-departure warning, and adaptive cruise control. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are standard too, but traffic-sign recognition and Lane Tracing Assist are not included.
• Infotainment: The GX uses a dated touchscreen interface, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are not available. Bluetooth, Amazon Alexa, and Google Assistant connectivity are standard, and there are two USB ports for each of the first two rows.
• Fuel efficiency: The GX is rated at 16 mpg combined, 15 mpg city, and 19 mpg highway.

Which 2021 Lexus GX trim should I buy?

The 2021 Lexus GX is offered in 3 trim levels: base, Premium, and Luxury.

Here's the short version:

• base: This is the entry point if you want the GX’s core V8, standard four-wheel drive, and standard safety equipment without paying for extra comfort or appearance upgrades.
• Premium: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds a more polished look and feel while staying below the top-end price of the Luxury model.
• Luxury: Choose this if you want the most upscale GX experience, including the available adaptive suspension and the option to add the Off-Road Package with trail-focused hardware and features.

The standard safety package is strong across the lineup, but the GX still misses some driver-assistance features found on other Lexus and Toyota models.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Lexus GX?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 36.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 804 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.58% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 76.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $40,985, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Lexus GX's resale value?

The current average of $41,700 sits slightly below last year's $42,370.

That modest decline suggests the GX is holding value reasonably well rather than sliding sharply. For a future seller, that kind of movement usually points to steady demand instead of a weak market.

Its niche appeal helps, too: buyers who want a rugged luxury SUV with real capability tend to keep it on their shortlist. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.17/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Lexus GX safe?

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

As with other Lexus models, the GX 460 gets the Lexus Safety System+ bundle of driver aids as standard equipment. This includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, automatic high beams, lane-departure warning, and adaptive cruise control. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are standard as well.

However, the GX misses out on some safety features available in other Lexus models, including traffic-sign recognition and Lane Tracing Assist automated lane centering.

Should I buy a 2021 Lexus GX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 36.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 76% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.58% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.17/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 adds a new Premium Plus Package and acoustic front side glass.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $37,416, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $41,700 average.
• It offers fresh styling and a more memorable exterior.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $47,403, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $41,700 average.
• It emphasizes rugged three-row capability and trail-focused utility.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of current-year pricing and broad inventory, the 2021 is the sensible pick. If your priority is saving money, the 2020 is the better value path; if you want to spend more for the next model year, the 2022 is the alternative.
