CarGurus Analysis: 2021 Kia Stinger
overall
Summary
With 434 currently listed for sale and an average price of $24,296, 32.3% of 2021 Kia Stinger listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2021 Kia Stinger 5 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8.83 / 10.
65.0% of 2021 Kia Stinger listings on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2021 Kia Stinger stands out as Kia’s sporty side in a low-slung, four-door sports car package. It is unusual for the brand, which is long known for value, and that contrast is a big part of its appeal. The Stinger also brings together performance and luxury in a way that makes it feel like an out-of-left-field enthusiast car rather than a conventional Kia product.
For buyers, its biggest draw is value: it is presented as an absolute value performance/luxury car and as a BMW 3 Series rival for thousands less. It also offers multiple powertrain options and is described as fun to drive. The main drawback noted here is that advanced safety features are not standard, so shoppers looking for the latest driver-assistance equipment may need to pay close attention to trim and equipment levels.

Have a 2021 GT1 AWD. Owned for 6 months. Bought used because we couldnt find a 2023 in our area we wanted. Best value compared to the Audi A5 Sportback and Mercedes CLA 250/AMG 35. The 3.3L twin turbo is a dream. My wife and I absolutely love this car.

Yes — the 2021 Kia Stinger earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8.83/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.
The Stinger stands out as a low-slung, four-door sports car package that blends performance and luxury in a way that feels unusual for Kia. It is positioned as a BMW 3 Series rival for thousands less, and it is described as fun to drive with multiple powertrain options.
The main trade-offs are that advanced safety features are not standard, and shoppers who want the latest driver-assistance equipment need to pay close attention to trim and equipment levels. Even so, the model’s value proposition is strong for buyers who want an enthusiast-oriented sedan with upscale appeal.
31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still some attractive opportunities in the market.
Is the 2021 Kia Stinger reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The Stinger is presented as a value-focused performance-luxury car with a strong ownership appeal, and its generous 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty adds confidence for used buyers. Its performance setup is described as lively and capable, with a sporty steering feel and high-performance dampers that support everyday enjoyment.
The most efficient four-cylinder version returns 22 mpg city, 29 mpg highway, and 25 mpg combined with rear-wheel drive, which helps keep running costs in check. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the car has been maintained well, especially if you are considering a higher-output or all-wheel-drive version.
What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Kia Stinger?
At 66.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are comparing cars with similar prices. Focus on overall condition, equipment level, and whether the car has the driver-assistance features you want, since those are not standard across the lineup.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base GT-Line includes a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless device charging, dual-zone climate control, a 12-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, leather upholstery, heated front seats, and a leather-wrapped, flat-bottomed sport steering wheel. The GT1 adds LED accent lighting, an eight-way power-adjustable front passenger’s seat, and the more powerful V6 powertrain, while the GT2 adds Nappa Leather upholstery, 16-way power-adjustable sport seats with Air Cell 4-way lumbar support, heated-and-ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, sport gauges, a head-up display, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.
- Powertrain: The standard engine is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 255 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. The GT uses a 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 with 365 hp and 376 lb-ft of torque. Both engines use an eight-speed automatic transmission, with rear-wheel drive standard and all-wheel drive available.
- Safety package: Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are standard, but automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, forward-collision warning, and automatic high beams require an upgrade from the GT-Line and GT.
- Infotainment: The standard screen is 7 inches, while upgraded trims get an 8-inch screen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, along with Bluetooth connectivity, multiple USB ports, and wireless device charging. The GT2 adds a 15-speaker Harman Kardon premium stereo system.
- Fuel efficiency: The most efficient version returns 22 mpg city, 29 mpg highway, and 25 mpg combined with rear-wheel drive. With all-wheel drive, the four-cylinder returns 21 mpg city, 29 mpg highway, and 24 mpg combined. The V6 returns 17 mpg city, 25 mpg highway, and 20 mpg combined with both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive.
Which 2021 Kia Stinger trim should I buy?
The 2021 Kia Stinger is offered in 4 trim levels: GT-Line, GT, GT1, and GT2.
Here's the short version:
- GT-Line: This is the entry point and gives you the core Stinger experience with the 7-inch touchscreen, wireless device charging, leather upholstery, heated front seats, and the sporty cabin setup. It is the best-value choice if you want the Stinger’s style and everyday comfort without paying for the V6.
- GT: This trim adds the 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6, plus performance hardware such as a variable exhaust system, launch control, Brembo performance brakes, and a limited-slip differential. Choose it if you want the strongest performance focus.
- GT1: This is the smart step-up if you want the V6 plus more comfort and convenience, including LED accent lighting and an eight-way power-adjustable front passenger’s seat. It keeps the Stinger’s value story strong while adding meaningful equipment.
- GT2: This is the most luxurious version, with Nappa Leather upholstery, upgraded power-adjustable sport seats, heated-and-ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, sport gauges, a head-up display, and the premium audio system. It suits you best if you want the most upscale Stinger experience.
Most driver assistance features are only standard on the higher-level GT1 and GT2 models, so those trims are the safer bet if you want more advanced safety equipment.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Kia Stinger?
This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully and still find value.
- Deal availability: 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 419 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 10.77% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 66.6% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $24,150, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2021 Kia Stinger's resale value?
The current average of $24,150 sits slightly below last year's $27,066.
That decline suggests the market has moved in your favor as a buyer, but it also means future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. If you buy well now, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation pressure later. The Stinger’s value-oriented performance-luxury positioning should help keep it appealing to shoppers who want something distinctive.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2021 Kia Stinger safe?
The 2021 Kia Stinger earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
Most driver assistance features are only standard on the higher-level GT1 and GT2 models, although blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are standard. You’ll need to move up from the GT-Line and GT to get automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, forward-collision warning, and automatic high beams.
That trim gap matters if safety tech is a priority, because the lower trims leave out several of the most desirable active-safety features. If you want the most complete safety package, focus on the higher trims.
Should I buy a 2021 Kia Stinger or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2021 if:
- 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 66.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 10.77% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2021 model keeps the Stinger’s value-focused performance-luxury formula intact while offering multiple powertrain choices.
Consider the 2022 if:
- At $27,892, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $24,150 average.
- It gets more power, especially from the base engine.
The bottom line: If you want the better bargain, the 2021 is the stronger buy because it combines a lower average price with solid satisfaction and a compelling performance-luxury setup. If you are willing to spend more for a mild refresh and extra power, the 2022 is the better alternative; price-sensitive buyers should stay focused on the 2021.
