CarGurus Analysis: 2021 Kia Stinger
overall
Summary
With 424 currently listed for sale and an average price of $25,427, 33.5% of 2021 Kia Stingers for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2021 Kia Stinger 5 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8.83 / 10.
66.5% of 2021 Stinger models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2021 Kia Stinger stands out because Kia took a brand long known for value and used it to show off a sporty side. It is described as a head-turning, low-slung, four-door sports car, which makes it feel unusual for the brand and gives it a distinctive place in the lineup. For buyers looking for something different, that combination of performance and style is a big part of the appeal.
It also has a strong value story. The Stinger is presented as an absolute value performance and luxury car, and it shares underpinnings with the Genesis G70 luxury sedan while sometimes feeling more special than its upscale corporate cousin. The car is also praised for excellent value for money, multiple powertrain options, and being fun to drive. One drawback is that advanced safety features are not standard, so shoppers who want the latest driver aids may need to pay close attention to equipment.

Have a 2021 GT1 AWD. Owned for 6 months. Bought used because we couldnt find a 2023 in our area we wanted. Best value compared to the Audi A5 Sportback and Mercedes CLA 250/AMG 35. The 3.3L twin turbo is a dream. My wife and I absolutely love this car.

The main trade-offs are that advanced safety features are not standard, and you may need to move up the lineup to get more of the driver aids you want. Even so, the model’s 33.8% good-or-great deal rate suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities in the market.
Is the 2021 Kia Stinger reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The Stinger is presented as a value-focused performance and luxury car, and its appeal is reinforced by a strong expert score and a reputation for being fun to drive. Its standard turbocharged four-cylinder and available twin-turbo V6 give you two credible powertrain choices, and both are described as lively enough for everyday use.
The 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty adds another layer of confidence for used buyers. Long-term ownership risk is still worth watching closely on higher-mileage examples, so a careful inspection and service-history review matter.
What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Kia Stinger?
At 66.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. A pre-purchase inspection is especially important on a car like this, since performance-oriented models can be driven harder than average. Focus on body condition, tire wear, brake condition, and whether the equipment level matches the trim you’re considering.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base GT-Line includes a 7-inch touchscreen, wireless device charging, dual-zone climate control, leather upholstery, heated front seats, and a leather-wrapped flat-bottom sport steering wheel. The GT1 adds LED accent lighting, an eight-way power-adjustable front passenger seat, and the more powerful V6 powertrain, while the GT2 adds Nappa leather, heated-and-ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, sport gauges, a head-up display, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.
- Powertrain: The standard 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder makes 255 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, while the GT’s 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 makes 365 hp and 376 lb-ft. Both pair with an eight-speed automatic and rear-wheel drive, with all-wheel drive available.
- Safety package: Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are standard, but automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, forward-collision warning, and automatic high beams are reserved for higher-level GT1 and GT2 models.
- Infotainment: The standard screen is 7 inches, while upgraded trims get an 8-inch display. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, along with Bluetooth, multiple USB ports, and wireless device charging. The GT2 adds a 15-speaker Harman Kardon premium stereo system.
- Fuel efficiency: The four-cylinder with rear-wheel drive returns 22 mpg city, 29 mpg highway, and 25 mpg combined. With all-wheel drive, it returns 21 mpg city, 29 mpg highway, and 24 mpg combined. The V6 returns 17 mpg city, 25 mpg highway, and 20 mpg combined with either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.
Which 2021 Kia Stinger trim should I buy?
The 2021 Kia Stinger is offered in 4 trim levels: GT-Line, GT, GT1, GT2.
Here's the short version:
- GT-Line: This is the entry point and the best-value choice if you want the Stinger’s style, standard tech, and comfort features without paying for the V6. It gives you the core experience and is the trim to start with if you care most about value.
- GT: This trim adds the V6, variable exhaust, launch control, Brembo performance brakes, and a limited-slip differential, so it’s the one to choose if you want the more serious performance setup.
- GT1: This is the smart upgrade if you want the V6 plus more comfort and convenience, including LED accent lighting and a power front passenger seat.
- GT2: This is the most luxurious version, with Nappa leather, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, sport gauges, a head-up display, and the premium audio system.
Most driver-assistance features are only standard on the higher-level GT1 and GT2 models, so those trims are the safer bet if you want more standard safety equipment.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Kia Stinger?
This is a moderate, selective-buyer market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.
- Deal availability: 33.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 420 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 5.58% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 66.9% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $24,389, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2021 Kia Stinger's resale value?
The current average of $25,393 sits slightly below last year's $26,895.
That decline suggests the market has softened, which can help you buy more affordably now. For a future seller, it also means you should pay close attention to purchase price and trim selection, since starting from a lower entry point can help protect your position later.
The Stinger’s strong value story and broad appeal should help support demand, especially for well-equipped examples in good condition. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2021 Kia Stinger safe?
The 2021 Kia Stinger earns a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS and a five-star overall rating from NHTSA.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are standard, but more advanced driver-assistance features are limited to higher-level GT1 and GT2 models. That means you should verify exactly which safety equipment is fitted before you buy.
One important caveat is that advanced safety features are not standard, so lower trims leave more of the driver-assistance suite off the table.
Should I buy a 2021 Kia Stinger or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2021 if:
- 33.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 66.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 5.58% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2021 keeps the Stinger’s value-focused performance-luxury formula while offering multiple powertrain choices.
Consider the 2022 if:
- At $28,602, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $25,393 average.
- It adds more power, especially from the base engine.
The bottom line: If you want the better bargain, the 2021 is the stronger buy because it combines a lower average price with solid deal availability and strong owner satisfaction. If you’re willing to spend more for the refresh and extra power, the 2022 is the better alternative.
