How much does the 2021 Jeep Wrangler cost?

Prices have softened 12.69% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 8,923 listings available, which gives you a solid pool to compare prices and equipment.

Is the 2021 Jeep Wrangler a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Jeep Wrangler earns a 4.7/5 user rating, and our experts rate it 7.67/10.

The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

Owners repeatedly praise its off-road capability, power, and adventurous character, and they also like the manual features that make it feel more engaging. The Wrangler’s appeal is strongest if you want something distinctive rather than a conventional crossover, and the four-door Unlimited broadens the lineup with more powertrain variety. The trade-offs are clear, though: poor ride quality and poor handling are part of the package, and some trims leave you wanting more modern tech.

With 36.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2021 Jeep Wrangler reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a vehicle that owners feel good about keeping for the long haul, especially because of its capability and the confidence it inspires in everyday use. The expert evaluation also emphasizes that the Wrangler is built around durability-minded off-road hardware and a rugged character that suits long-term ownership. Jeep’s maintenance-friendly ownership experience is helped by the model’s broad parts support and familiar mechanical layout.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the Wrangler’s ruggedness comes with compromises in comfort and refinement, so condition and maintenance history matter a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Jeep Wrangler?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on every candidate, because a clean listing percentage does not replace documentation. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on wear from off-road use, suspension condition, and signs of hard use. Pay close attention to trim-specific equipment, because the Wrangler’s value changes a lot depending on how much comfort, tech, and capability it has.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Sport is the bare-bones choice with manual door locks, manual mirrors, cloth seats, and a 5-inch audio display, while the Sport S adds power windows, power locks, air conditioning, and remote keyless entry. The Sahara moves toward a more street-oriented setup with dual-zone climate control, upgraded upholstery, side-steps, larger brakes, and a 7-inch touchscreen, while the Rubicon is the off-road-focused choice with beefed-up suspension and running gear.
• Powertrain: The standard 3.6-liter V6 makes 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, with either a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic. Other options include a turbocharged four-cylinder, a 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6, a mild-hybrid V6, the Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid, and the Rubicon 392’s 6.4-liter V8.
• Safety package: Forward-collision warning, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, parking sensors, and blind-spot monitoring are available, but they are optional. Lane-departure warning is not available, and the base setup is especially basic aside from the backup camera with dynamic guidelines.
• Infotainment: The Sport uses a basic 5-inch screen, while the 7-inch Uconnect system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is optional on the Sport S and standard on other trims. You can also get an 8.4-inch screen, and Jeep’s larger displays are paired with intuitive steering-wheel audio controls.
• Fuel efficiency: The 4xe returns 40 MPGe and 20 mpg combined after the battery is depleted. The EcoDiesel returns 22 mpg city, 29 mpg highway, and 25 mpg combined, while the gas V6 with the automatic returns 19 mpg city, 24 mpg highway, and 21 mpg combined.

Which 2021 Jeep Wrangler trim should I buy?

The 2021 Jeep Wrangler is offered in 4 trim levels: Sport, Sport S, Sahara, and Rubicon.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the most stripped-down Wrangler, so it makes sense only if you want the lowest entry point and plan to add equipment later. It gives you the core Wrangler experience, but the basic 5-inch screen and manual conveniences make it the least comfortable choice for daily use.
• Sport S: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the everyday features you’ll notice immediately, including power windows, power locks, air conditioning, and remote keyless entry. If you want a Wrangler that feels more livable without jumping too far up the price ladder, this is the one to target.
• Sahara: This is the better pick if you want a more polished, street-friendly Wrangler with dual-zone climate control, upgraded upholstery, side-steps, larger brakes, and a 7-inch touchscreen. It suits you best if comfort and convenience matter more than maximizing trail hardware.
• Rubicon: This is the trim to buy if off-road capability is your priority, thanks to its beefed-up suspension and running gear, locking differentials, and disconnecting front sway bar. It is the right choice if you want the most serious trail setup from the factory.

Safety equipment remains mostly optional across the lineup, so check each listing carefully for the driver-assistance features you want.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Jeep Wrangler?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 36.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 8,923 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.69% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 82.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $27,396, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Jeep Wrangler's resale value?

The current average of $27,396 sits slightly below last year's $31,377.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy more confidently now. For a future seller, it also means your resale outcome will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim choice rather than just model-year age. Higher-demand versions with desirable equipment should hold up better than bare-bones examples.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Jeep Wrangler safe?

The Wrangler earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Safety equipment is limited in the base setup, and several useful driver-assistance features remain optional rather than standard. You can get forward-collision warning, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, parking sensors, and blind-spot monitoring, but lane-departure warning is not available. The backup camera with dynamic guidelines is standard, but the overall safety package is still relatively basic for the class.

That means you should pay close attention to the exact equipment on any used example, especially if you want more than the minimum safety content.

Should I buy a 2021 Jeep Wrangler or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 36.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.69% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It expands the lineup with the Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid and the Rubicon 392 V8.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $25,047, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $27,396 average.
• It adds a new diesel option and broadens the powertrain lineup.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $29,781, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $27,396 average.
• It adds more open-air versatility and keeps the Wrangler’s distinctive formula fresh.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of price, variety, and current-market availability, the 2021 is the best starting point. If your budget is tighter, the 2020 can save you money while still delivering the Wrangler’s core appeal.
