How much does the 2021 Jeep Wrangler cost?

Prices have softened 12.89% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 8,934 listings available, which suggests you should have a workable range of choices.

Is the 2021 Jeep Wrangler a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Jeep Wrangler earns a 4.7/5 user rating, and our experts give it 7.67/10.

The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

Owners repeatedly praise its off-road capability, power, and adventurous character, and they also like the comfort and manual features that make it feel engaging. The trade-offs are familiar: limited cargo space, some interior quirks, and a lack of modern tech features in certain trims. For you, that means the Wrangler makes the most sense if you want a rugged, distinctive SUV rather than a conventional family hauler. Good and great deals account for 37.0% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2021 Jeep Wrangler reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle people tend to trust for its off-road capability, power, and comfort, and it also highlights the kind of adventurous ownership experience that keeps buyers attached over time. The expert evaluation reinforces that sense of durability by emphasizing the Wrangler’s rugged hardware and its ability to handle demanding terrain. If you’re shopping used, the main long-term risk is that a hard-used example may show wear from off-road use or a less careful ownership history.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Jeep Wrangler?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any Wrangler you’re considering, because off-road use and modifications can affect long-term condition in ways that aren’t obvious at first glance. Prioritize a thorough inspection of the suspension, tires, underbody, and interior wear, especially if the vehicle has been used on trails. Focus on whether the trim and equipment match how you plan to use it, since the Wrangler’s appeal changes a lot depending on how much comfort and tech you want.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Sport is the bare-bones choice with manual door locks, manual mirrors, cloth seats, and a 5-inch audio display, while the Sport S adds power windows and locks, heated power mirrors, air conditioning, and remote keyless entry. The Sahara is more street-oriented with dual-zone climate control, upgraded cloth upholstery, side-steps, and a 7-inch touchscreen, while the Rubicon is the off-road-focused choice with beefed-up suspension and running gear.
• Powertrain: The standard 3.6-liter V6 makes 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, with a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic. Other options include a mild-hybrid V6, a 270-hp turbocharged four-cylinder, a 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6, a plug-in hybrid 4xe, and the 6.4-liter V8 in the Rubicon 392.
• Safety package: Forward-collision warning, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, parking sensors, and blind-spot monitoring are available, but they are optional. There is no available lane-departure warning feature, and the base configuration is especially sparse.
• Infotainment: The Sport uses a basic 5-inch screen, while the 7-inch Uconnect system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is optional on the Sport S and standard on other trims. You can also get an 8.4-inch screen, and the larger displays are easier to use.
• Fuel efficiency: The 4xe returns 40 MPGe and 20 mpg combined once the battery is depleted. The EcoDiesel returns 22 mpg city, 29 mpg highway, and 25 mpg combined. The gas 2.0-liter turbo returns 21 mpg city, 24 mpg highway, and 22 mpg combined, while the automatic V6 returns 19 mpg city, 24 mpg highway, and 21 mpg combined.

Which 2021 Jeep Wrangler trim should I buy?

The 2021 Jeep Wrangler is offered in 4 trim levels: Sport, Sport S, Sahara, and Rubicon.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the most stripped-down Wrangler, so it makes sense if you want the lowest entry point and plan to build from there. You get the core Wrangler experience, but you’ll be giving up a lot of convenience equipment.
• Sport S: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the everyday features you’re most likely to miss, including power windows and locks, air conditioning, and remote keyless entry. It also opens the door to useful packages like the Technology Group and Cold Weather Package.
• Sahara: Choose this if you want a more street-friendly Wrangler with more comfort and a better standard tech setup. It adds dual-zone climate control, upgraded upholstery, side-steps, and a 7-inch touchscreen.
• Rubicon: This is the trim to buy if off-road capability is your priority. It adds beefed-up suspension and running gear, plus the hardware that makes it the most trail-ready choice.

The safety package is mostly optional across the lineup, so you should check carefully for the features you want.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Jeep Wrangler?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 37.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 8,934 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.89% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 83.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $27,176, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Jeep Wrangler's resale value?

The current average of $27,176 sits slightly below last year's $31,198.

That decline suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy more confidently now, but it also means a future seller may face a softer pricing environment than owners saw a year ago. Even so, the Wrangler’s strong identity and broad appeal help support demand, especially for well-kept examples with desirable equipment. If you buy carefully and keep the vehicle in good condition, you should have a better shot at holding value than with a more ordinary SUV.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Jeep Wrangler safe?

The Wrangler is a mixed safety proposition, with basic standard equipment and several important features left optional.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Forward-collision warning, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, parking sensors, and blind-spot monitoring are available, but they are all optional. There is no available lane-departure warning feature, and the base configuration is especially sparse. You do get a backup camera with dynamic guidelines, but the overall safety setup is still limited compared with many mainstream SUVs. The lack of curtain airbags is another important drawback to keep in mind.

Should I buy a 2021 Jeep Wrangler or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 37.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.89% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds the Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid and the Hemi V8 to the four-door lineup.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $24,854, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $27,176 average.
• It adds a new diesel engine and broadens the Wrangler’s powertrain lineup.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $29,588, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $27,176 average.
• It adds open-air versatility with removable doors and a fold-down windshield.

The bottom line: the 2021 is the best fit if you want the broadest mix of powertrains and the strongest current market value. If you’re price-sensitive, the 2020 is the smarter buy, especially if you want to spend less up front and still get the Wrangler’s core appeal.
