How much does the 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe cost?

Prices have softened 19.01% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,306 listings available, which gives you a meaningful pool to compare prices and equipment.

Is the 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe a good car?

Yes — owners rate it 4.6/5, and our experts score it 6.7/10. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise the blend of power and comfort, along with the electric and turbo features that enhance performance. The interior also gets credit for being family-friendly and well-equipped, which helps the 4xe feel more usable than its rugged image might suggest.

The trade-offs are clear: the electric range is unimpressive, and the vehicle can be noisy with poor handling. In practical terms, that means you’re buying this for its distinctive plug-in hybrid character and Wrangler personality, not for quiet-road refinement.

For you, the best fit is if you want a Wrangler with a cleaner, more modern powertrain and easy-to-use technology, while still keeping the go-anywhere identity intact. Good and great deals account for 31.6% of listings, which suggests there’s some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a dependable-feeling blend of power and comfort, with drivers especially appreciating the electric and turbo features. The review summary also highlights the interior as family-friendly and well-equipped, which usually supports confidence in day-to-day ownership.

The expert evaluation reinforces that this is a vehicle built around a durable, purpose-driven setup rather than delicate complexity. Jeep also includes complimentary scheduled maintenance for three years through its customer care program, which helps reduce early ownership friction.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about basic satisfaction and more about living with the Wrangler 4xe’s compromises, especially if you expect quiet operation or strong efficiency in every situation.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on every candidate, even if the listing looks clean at first glance. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that checks the plug-in hybrid system, charging behavior, and any signs of hard use. Condition matters a lot here because the Wrangler 4xe’s appeal depends on both its off-road hardware and its electrified components working as intended.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Rubicon trim adds the most capability-focused hardware, while the Sahara and High Altitude are also offered. The cabin is purposeful rather than luxurious, and the base setup does not aim for refinement.
• Powertrain: The 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder works with two electric motors and a 17-kilowatt-hour battery pack, and all trim levels include skid plates, low range, and Dana 44 axles. The Rubicon adds an upgraded four-wheel drive system with electronic front and rear lockers.
• Safety package: The Safety Group includes blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, and rear parking sensors. The Advanced Safety Group adds adaptive cruise control with full-stop capability, full-speed forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, and automatic high-beam headlights.
• Infotainment: The Uconnect system uses an 8.4-inch touchscreen and includes Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, navigation, SiriusXM Guardian connected services, and available WiFi. It is intuitive, but its age shows in load time, responsiveness, voice recognition accuracy, and graphics.
• Fuel efficiency: The plug-in hybrid setup is rated at 49 MPGe combined, and hybrid driving returns 20 mpg combined.

Which 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe trim should I buy?

The 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe is offered in 3 trim levels: Rubicon, Sahara, High Altitude.

Here's the short version:

• Rubicon: This is the most capability-focused choice, with the upgraded four-wheel drive system plus electronic front and rear lockers. If you want the strongest off-road hardware and don’t mind paying for it, this is the trim that best matches the 4xe’s adventurous personality.
• Sahara: This is the trim to consider if you want the 4xe experience with a lower starting point than the Rubicon. It keeps the plug-in hybrid appeal and the Wrangler’s core hardware while avoiding the more specialized Rubicon setup.
• High Altitude: This is the most upscale-sounding option in the lineup, but the available information here emphasizes the same overall Wrangler 4xe character rather than a major mechanical upgrade. Choose it if you want the more premium-feeling presentation.

The Safety Group and Advanced Safety Group are available, and the blind-spot warning system is especially worth prioritizing because the Wrangler’s side mirrors are somewhat narrow.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,306 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 19.01% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 86.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $25,383, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe's resale value?

The current average of $25,383 sits slightly below last year's $31,340.

That decline suggests the market has become more favorable for buyers, but it also means a future seller may face a softer pricing environment than owners saw a year ago. If you buy now, you’re entering at a lower average cost basis than last year’s shoppers.

The good news for resale is that this model has a distinct identity: it combines Wrangler appeal with plug-in hybrid efficiency, which helps it stand out from standard SUVs. Strong owner satisfaction can also support demand when it’s time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe safe?

The 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe earns a Marginal rating from IIHS for small-overlap frontal-impact protection for the driver, and it earns a four-star frontal-impact crash-test rating and a three-star rating for its ability to resist a rollover in a collision from NHTSA.

It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.

Jeep offers the Safety Group with blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, and rear parking sensors, plus the Advanced Safety Group with adaptive cruise control with full-stop capability, full-speed forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, and automatic high-beam headlights. Those systems are useful, but they are fairly basic in nature.

The headlights are another point to watch: the LED headlights with automatic high beams rate no better than Marginal from IIHS, while the standard headlights are rated Poor. That makes trim and equipment selection especially important if safety is a priority for you.

Should I buy a 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 19.01% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 stands out for its plug-in hybrid setup, easy-to-use technology, and distinctive Wrangler character.

The bottom line: If you want the Wrangler 4xe’s unique mix of electric torque, efficiency, and off-road identity, the 2021 is the right path to focus on. If your priority is simply finding the lowest possible price, you can shop selectively and wait for a strong listing, but the 2021 already shows a meaningful price drop and a decent supply of inventory.
