How much does the 2021 Honda Civic cost?

Prices have softened 3.64% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,787 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2021 Honda Civic a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Honda Civic earns a 5/5 from users and a 7.17/10 from experts. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, and Cost effectiveness.

Owners consistently praise its stylish design, great fuel economy, and comfortable ride. Many also like the spacious trunk and enjoyable driving experience. On the downside, the base engine is underwhelming, the technology feels outdated, and some interior materials feel cheap.

That mix fits a compact car that still offers multiple body styles and a strong driving character, especially if you want something practical with personality. Good and great deals account for 31.6% of listings, so you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2021 Honda Civic reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a car people trust for dependable everyday use, with strong fuel economy and a comfortable ride reinforcing that reputation. The expert review also emphasizes peace of mind, saying you know it will be reliable and fuel-efficient.

Honda does not include long-term freebies like extended warranties or maintenance perks here, so your ownership costs will depend more on condition and upkeep than on factory extras. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is buying a neglected example, so service history matters.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Honda Civic?

At 60.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has had bodywork or multiple owners. Focus on panel alignment, tire wear, brake feel, and signs that the cabin or electronics have been heavily used. Because this model is known for strong value and broad appeal, condition can make a bigger difference than mileage alone.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: LX and Sport are the more basic versions, while EX, EX-L, and Touring add more comfort and convenience. The base setup is light on tech, with the LX getting only a 5-inch screen, Bluetooth, and a 1.0-amp USB port, while Sport upgrades to a 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and an eight-speaker audio system.
• Powertrain: LX and Sport use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 158 horsepower and 138 pound-feet of torque, while EX, EX-L, and Touring get a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder with 174 hp and 162 lb-ft. The turbo engine is the stronger choice if you want better everyday response.
• Safety package: Every Civic gets Honda Sensing, which includes adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, Road Departure Mitigation, and Lane Keeping Assist. LaneWatch is available starting with EX trim, but there is no traditional radar-based blind-spot warning system.
• Infotainment: LX has a 5-inch LCD screen, Bluetooth, and a 1.0-amp USB port. Sport adds a 7-inch high-definition touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, text-messaging support, basic HondaLink connected services, and a 1.5-amp USB port. Touring adds navigation with voice recognition, digital traffic, and a 10-speaker premium audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: The turbocharged CVT setup averaged 34.8 mpg on a driving loop and beat the EPA estimate of 33 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2021 Honda Civic trim should I buy?

The 2021 Honda Civic is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, Sport, EX, EX-L, and Touring.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, but it is the most stripped-down version. You get the basic 2.0-liter engine and the least advanced tech, so it makes sense mainly if price matters most and you can live without modern infotainment features.
• Sport: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, an eight-speaker audio system, and the more appealing 18-inch wheels. It also keeps the Civic’s fun-to-drive character intact.
• EX: This is the smart step up if you want the stronger turbocharged engine and more convenience features. It also adds HD Radio and SiriusXM, and it is the first trim that can get LaneWatch.
• EX-L: This trim builds on EX with more comfort-oriented equipment, making it a better fit if you want a more upscale daily driver without going all the way to Touring.
• Touring: This is the most fully equipped version, with navigation, digital traffic, and a 10-speaker premium audio system. It is also the trim tied to the top-rated headlights and the strongest safety recognition.

Honda Sensing is standard across the lineup, while LaneWatch starts on EX trim.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Honda Civic?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right car.

• Deal availability: 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,787 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.64% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 60.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $18,963, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Honda Civic's resale value?

The current average of $19,218 sits slightly below last year's $19,943.

That softer pricing suggests buyers have a bit more leverage now than they did a year ago. If you buy well and keep the car in good condition, you should have a reasonable path to holding value because demand remains broad and the Civic is still widely recognized. The model’s strong reputation and steady shopper interest help support future resale strength.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Honda Civic safe?

The 2021 Civic earns a Top Safety Pick designation from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, and it earns five-star ratings in every single assessment from NHTSA.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard and includes adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, Road Departure Mitigation, Lane Keeping Assist, automatic high-beam headlights, and a multi-angle reversing camera. LaneWatch is available starting with EX trim, but there is no traditional radar-based blind-spot warning system or rear cross-traffic warning system.

The main caveat is that Honda Sensing can feel abrupt and indecisive at times, and the IIHS Top Safety Pick designation only applies to Touring trim because of its top-rated LED headlights.

Should I buy a 2021 Honda Civic or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 60.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.64% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It is the last version of the 10th-generation Civic before the redesign arrives.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $18,684, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $19,218 average.
• It adds minor design tweaks, more standard safety and convenience features, and more manual transmissions.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $22,176, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $19,218 average.
• It brings a full redesign with stronger handling and more advanced technology.

The bottom line: If you want the outgoing Civic’s proven formula, the 2021 is the right target. If you are focused on saving money, the 2020 is the better value play. If you want the newer redesign and can spend more, the 2022 is the upgrade path.
