Is the 2021 Genesis G70 a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Genesis G70 earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8.3/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Safety.

It stands out as an entry-level luxury sport sedan that leans into style, value, and driving enjoyment. The available twin-turbo engine gives it a performance edge, and the cabin is described as upscale with strong standard features.

The trade-offs are clear: the base engine is underwhelming, the back seat is cramped, and cargo space is limited.

With 33.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive price.

Is the 2021 Genesis G70 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2021 Genesis G70 is positioned as a premium sedan with a long warranty and solid safety scores, which supports confidence for used buyers. Its strong value proposition and upscale standard equipment also point to a car that was built to compete above its price point.

Genesis backs the car with a five-year/60,000-mile basic warranty and a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty, which is a meaningful ownership perk.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the brand promise and more about finding a well-kept example that has not been worn down by hard use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Genesis G70?

At 69.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been driven hard or modified. Focus on body condition, interior wear, and signs that the car’s premium features still work as intended.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Higher configurations get quilted Nappa leather seats and more standard features, while the base setup is more basic by comparison.
• Powertrain: You can find a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 252 horsepower and a twin-turbo V6 with 365 hp; both use an eight-speed automatic, and RWD or AWD are available.
• Safety package: Standard safety features include blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, pedestrian detection, driver attention monitoring, and forward-collision warning.
• Infotainment: Standard equipment includes an 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and six speakers, while navigation, a 15-speaker Lexicon audio system, a surround-view camera system, and wireless device charging are available.
• Fuel efficiency: The 2.0-liter engine returns 22/30/25 mpg with the automatic and 20/27/23 mpg with AWD, while the 3.3T returns 17/26/20 mpg with RWD and 17/25/20 mpg with AWD.

Which 2021 Genesis G70 trim should I buy?

The 2021 Genesis G70 is offered in 2 trim levels: 2.0T and 3.3T.

Here's the short version:

• 2.0T: This is the value play if you want the G70’s style, upscale cabin, and standard tech without paying for the more powerful engine. It still gets the core luxury-sedan experience, but the base engine is the one most likely to feel underwhelming, so it suits you best if price matters more than outright speed.
• 3.3T: This is the better choice if you want the G70’s strongest performance and a more playful driving experience. It adds the twin-turbo V6, stronger acceleration, and available adaptive dampers, making it the trim to target if you care most about driving enjoyment.

The safety package is strong across the lineup, with standard advanced driver aids including blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, pedestrian detection, driver attention monitoring, and forward-collision warning.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Genesis G70?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on the right car.

• Deal availability: 33.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 296 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.88% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 69.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $21,818, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Genesis G70's resale value?

The current average of $21,823 sits slightly below last year's $24,766.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a better entry point today. For a future seller, it also means resale value may depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the car has been maintained.

Because the model still carries strong value and premium appeal, a clean, well-kept example should remain easier to move than one with visible wear or accident history.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
