Used 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 for Sale nearCleveland, OH

How much does the 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 cost?

Prices have softened 9.64% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 7,090 listings available, which suggests you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 a good car?

Yes — the 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 earns a 4.9/5 user rating and a 5.7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its strong engine performance, comfort, and upscale feel, and they also point to luxurious features and good value for money. The Sierra’s broad capability and multiple body styles make it a flexible fit if you want a full-size pickup that can handle work, daily driving, and more specialized use cases.

The trade-offs are clear: the technology is described as outdated, and the interior materials feel cheap. The overview also frames it as a truck with distinctive GMC styling and useful features, but one that still has some rough edges compared with newer rivals.

Good and great deals account for 35.1% of listings, so there is still room to shop selectively.

Is the 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner summary points to a truck that feels highly dependable in everyday use, with praise centered on strong engine performance, comfort, and a generally upscale experience. That kind of feedback matters when you’re looking for a used truck you can count on over time.

The test-drive data also supports that impression with a powertrain that feels well matched to the truck’s mission and a transmission that chooses gears smoothly. The diesel setup is described as a bargain for what it delivers, which adds to the sense that the Sierra can be a solid long-term ownership choice if you buy the right configuration.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that higher-mileage examples may show the effects of a truck that can be optioned heavily and used hard.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 GMC Sierra 1500?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper records review. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on wear, evidence of heavy towing, and whether the truck’s equipment matches the trim level you expect. Pay close attention to cabin condition and feature content, since the Sierra’s equipment can vary a lot by version.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Sierra’s styling and upscale Denali trim level are key differentiators, while the AT4 adds off-road-ready hardware such as a suspension lift, skid plates, and a locking rear differential. The base versions are less compelling if you want a more premium feel.
• Powertrain: The Duramax 3.0-liter turbodiesel six-cylinder is the standout choice, with 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, plus a 10-speed automatic transmission. It is also described as the most cost-effective engine option.
• Safety package: Forward collision warning, front pedestrian braking, and automatic emergency braking are optional, while blind-spot warning and rear cross-traffic warning are included on Denali and optional on other trims. Lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, and a Safety Alert Seat are also available depending on trim.
• Infotainment: The Sierra offers 7-inch and 8-inch touchscreen displays, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 4G LTE WiFi hotspot, navigation, and an available Technology Package with a 15-inch head-up display and an 8-inch driver information display.
• Fuel efficiency: The Duramax diesel is rated at 24 mpg in combined driving, and the test truck averaged 21.1 mpg in real-world use.

Which 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 trim should I buy?

The 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 is offered in 3 trim levels: Elevation, AT4, Denali.

Here's the short version:

• Elevation: This is the trim most buyers should strongly consider if they want to keep costs in check while still getting a custom appearance and access to a wide range of options. It is the best-value path if you want flexibility without immediately climbing into the pricier trims.
• AT4: Choose this if you want the more rugged, off-road-focused setup. It adds a factory-installed 2-inch suspension lift, off-road suspension, skid plates, a locking rear differential, and other capability-minded hardware.
• Denali: Pick this if you want the most upscale Sierra experience. The Denali is the trim most closely tied to the truck’s premium image, though the data also makes clear that some safety features still cost extra.

Safety equipment still varies by trim, so you should verify exactly which driver-assistance features are included before you buy.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 GMC Sierra 1500?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 35.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 7,090 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.64% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 77.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $33,923, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 GMC Sierra 1500's resale value?

The current average of $33,923 sits slightly below last year's $37,540.

That price movement suggests the Sierra has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price. If you purchase near the lower end of the current range, you may have a better chance of limiting your loss when it’s time to sell.

The truck’s broad appeal, multiple body styles, and strong owner satisfaction should help support demand. Still, resale will depend heavily on trim, mileage, condition, and whether the truck has the desirable equipment buyers want.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 safe?

The 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 earns a four-star overall rating from NHTSA due to four-star protection levels for the driver and front passenger in the frontal-impact test.

It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.

The Sierra’s safety equipment is uneven. Forward collision warning, front pedestrian braking, and automatic emergency braking are available, while blind-spot warning and rear cross-traffic warning are included on Denali and optional on other trims. Lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, and a Safety Alert Seat are also available depending on trim, and adaptive cruise control is optional on SLT, AT4, and Denali.

The main caveats are the IIHS results: the truck gets a “Marginal” result for the front passenger in the small-overlap frontal test, a “Poor” headlight rating, and “Marginal” LATCH accessibility. That means you should pay close attention to the exact safety equipment on any used example you consider.

Should I buy a 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 35.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.64% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• This year offers multiple body styles, multiple powertrain options, and easy-to-use technology.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $32,413, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $33,923 average.
• It blends utility with SUV-like comfort and convenience.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $40,378, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $33,923 average.
• It brings a bolder design, a more lavish interior, and standard high-end technology.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, inventory, and owner satisfaction, the 2021 is the sensible pick. If you are especially price-sensitive, the 2020 is worth a look; if you want a more upscale truck and can spend more, the 2022 is the step up.
