Used 2021 Ford F-150 for Sale nearNewark, NJ

How much does the 2021 Ford F-150 cost?

Prices have softened 7.13% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 9,720 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing trims and configurations.

Is the 2021 Ford F-150 a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Ford F-150 earns 4.84/5 from owners and 7.83/10 from experts. The standout strength is Technology at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its powerful performance, modern technology, and excellent ride comfort. They also highlight the fuel efficiency of the smaller engines and the truck’s versatility, which makes it appealing whether you need a work truck, commuter, or family hauler.

The main trade-offs are the underwhelming base engine, cheap-feeling interior materials, and the fact that advanced safety features are not standard. Even so, the truck’s broad configurability and updated cabin tech make it especially compelling if you want a full-size pickup that can be tailored to your needs.

Good and great deals account for 33.1% of listings, so there’s still a meaningful share of market-priced inventory to consider.

Is the 2021 Ford F-150 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.84/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a truck that feels dependable in daily use, with praise for its versatility, strong performance, and comfort over time. The expert evaluation also notes good road manners and a cabin that stays composed on longer drives, which supports the impression that it’s built to be used hard and often.

Ford’s warranty coverage includes a three-year, 36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper plan and a five-year, 60,000-mile powertrain warranty, which helps with early ownership confidence. For used buyers, the biggest long-term risk is that higher-option trucks can be expensive to keep up if prior owners skipped maintenance or used them heavily for towing.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Ford F-150?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper vehicle-by-vehicle review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on wear from towing, interior condition, and any signs that the truck was used as a hard-working fleet vehicle. It also makes sense to compare trim equipment closely, since the feature spread is wide and some desirable items are not standard.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base XL trim is described as spartan, while King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited move much closer to a luxury feel. The cabin materials vary a lot by trim, so you should pay close attention to whether the truck has the upgraded interior you want.
• Powertrain: You can choose from a 3.3-liter V6, 5.0-liter V8, 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6, 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6, Power Stroke 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6, and PowerBoost hybrid. The hybrid is the most powerful option, but the non-hybrid 3.5-liter EcoBoost is the better choice if maximum towing matters most.
• Safety package: Ford Co-Pilot360 includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and automatic high beams. Lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, hill-descent control, and intersection assist are available at extra cost, so base trucks may be missing features you expect.
• Infotainment: Sync 4 brings an 8-inch touchscreen standard, with an available 12-inch screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and over-the-air updates. That makes the tech package one of the truck’s biggest strengths.
• Fuel efficiency: The PowerBoost hybrid returns 25 mpg combined with rear-wheel drive and 24 mpg combined with four-wheel drive. The Power Stroke diesel is listed at 27 mpg highway with 4WD.

Which 2021 Ford F-150 trim should I buy?

The 2021 Ford F-150 is offered in 6 trim levels: XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• XL: This is the work-truck starting point, and it makes sense if you want the lowest entry price and don’t mind a more basic cabin. It’s the trim most likely to feel stripped down, so it’s best if you care more about capability than comfort.
• XLT: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it should give you a more balanced mix of everyday usability and equipment without jumping too far up the price ladder. If you want the sweet spot between cost and features, this is the trim to focus on.
• Lariat: Move here if you want a more upscale feel and more comfort-oriented equipment without going all the way to the luxury trims. It’s a good fit if you want the truck to feel more polished for daily driving.
• King Ranch: This trim leans into a more premium cabin, and the expert evaluation notes leather upholstery and wood trim in the test vehicle. It suits you if you want a distinctly upscale truck with a richer interior presentation.
• Platinum: This is another high-end choice for buyers who want a more luxurious F-150 experience. It’s a strong pick if you want premium materials and a more refined overall feel.
• Limited: This is the top-end choice for shoppers who want the most feature-rich version of the truck. It makes the most sense if you want the highest level of comfort and equipment available in this lineup.

Advanced safety features are not standard, so check carefully for the specific driver-assistance equipment you want on any trim you’re considering.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Ford F-150?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right truck.

• Deal availability: 33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 9,720 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.13% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 83.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $32,425, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Ford F-150's resale value?

The current average of $32,425 sits slightly below last year's $34,916.

That price decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle. For a future seller, that also means resale value will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim desirability rather than just model-year age.

Higher-spec trucks and well-kept examples should hold up better than basic, heavily used work trucks. If you maintain the truck well and keep it accident-free, you’ll be in a stronger position when it’s time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.84/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Ford F-150 safe?

The 2021 Ford F-150 earns a good roof-strength rating from IIHS.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Ford Co-Pilot360 is the standard driver-assistance suite, and it includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and automatic high beams. Lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, hill-descent control, and intersection assist are available, but they cost extra.

A key caveat is that full crash-test ratings from NHTSA and IIHS were not yet available when this truck launched, so you should pay close attention to the exact safety equipment on any used example you’re considering.

Should I buy a 2021 Ford F-150 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.13% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.84/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 redesign adds Sync 4, an available hybrid powertrain, and a broader range of configurations.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $28,010, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $32,425 average.
• It balances everyday comfort with real work capability.

The bottom line: If you want the newer tech, hybrid availability, and broader feature set, the 2021 is the better all-around pick. If your priority is saving money and you’re comfortable giving up some of the redesign’s upgrades, the 2020 is the more budget-friendly path.
