CarGurus Analysis: 2021 Ford Bronco Sport
overall

Summary
With 3,143 currently listed for sale and an average price of $20,924.00, 30.6% of 2021 Ford Bronco Sports for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2021 Ford Bronco Sport 4.15 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.33 / 10.
83.2% of 2021 Bronco Sport models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2021 Ford Bronco Sport stands out as a lively, capable, and attractive compact two-row crossover SUV that is meant to feel at home both on pavement and off it. Ford’s own test-drive impression describes it as a spunky companion for on- and off-pavement adventures, and that character is reinforced by its great handling and stylish design. It also brings impressive technology, which helps give it a more modern feel than its rugged looks might suggest.
At the same time, the 2021 Ford Bronco Sport is not without compromises. The main drawback called out in testing is that the interior materials feel cheap, and owner feedback echoes concerns about cabin quality, especially the small back seat. Even so, its blend of style, capability, and engaging road manners makes it appealing to buyers who want a compact SUV with a more adventurous personality.

This is the car I ended up getting and it was amazing!! I love the cute features of the bronco tied with its functionality. I do a lot of highway driving but also love to go on adventures and do a bit of off-roading this is the perfect vehicle for both.

This is the first vehicle I have ever purchased without having the opportunity to see it in advance, due to the shortage of vehicles overall. I enjoy the performance and handling thus far. Great turning radius. I very much enjoy the medium size of the vehicle as an SUV. It is not compact yet it is not bulky. There is ample room in the back for most needs, especially with the rear seats folded down. The leg room in the back seat is limited, but adequate. I am glad to have purchased the upgraded Outer Banks Model. The added features were worth the cost of the upgrade.

If you find a listing below $20,539.37, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2021 Ford Bronco Sport a good car?
Generally — 4.15/5 owners rate it, and the expert rating is 7.33/10. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel, Performance, and Cost effectiveness.
Owners repeatedly praise its style, good fuel economy, and off-road capability. The trade-offs are the cheap-feeling interior materials and a small back seat, plus the Auto-Stop feature can be annoying. For you, that means this is a strong fit if you want an adventurous compact SUV with everyday usability, especially if design and capability matter more than cabin polish. The market also shows 31.0% good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2021 Ford Bronco Sport reliable?
Owners rate it 4.15/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to a vehicle that many drivers find dependable enough to recommend for adventurous use, with good fuel economy and a generally satisfying ownership experience. The expert drive notes also describe it as a capable, drama-free companion on and off pavement, which supports the idea that it should be easy to live with over time. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright durability and more about whether a given example has been treated carefully, especially if it saw frequent trail use.
What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Ford Bronco Sport?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper vehicle-by-vehicle review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on signs of off-road wear, interior condition, and any evidence of hard use. Pay close attention to the cabin, since owner feedback repeatedly mentions cheap-feeling materials and a small back seat.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The Base model uses 17-inch Sparkle Silver wheels and has a more basic cabin setup, while higher trims add more upscale wheel designs and interior upgrades. Base also misses intelligent access with push-button start, and the safety package is less complete because the available driver-assistance upgrade is not offered on Base.
- Powertrain: The 1.5-liter EcoBoost turbocharged three-cylinder makes 181 horsepower and 190 pound-feet of torque in Base, Big Bend, and Outer Banks trims. The 2.0-liter EcoBoost turbocharged four-cylinder makes 245 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque in Badlands and First Edition models, and it is the better match if you want stronger performance.
- Safety package: Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard and includes pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, forward collision warning and dynamic brake support, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping assist, auto high-beam headlamps, and a reversing camera. Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist+ is available on all trims except Base, and road-sign recognition is not available on Big Bend.
- Infotainment: The cabin centers on an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen with SYNC 3. It supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Ford+Alexa and SiriusXM are available. FordConnect with 4G LTE WiFi hotspot is standard.
- Fuel efficiency: The owner feedback highlights good fuel economy, and the 1.5-liter engine is the efficiency-oriented choice in the lineup. The 2.0-liter setup is aimed more at performance and off-road capability than maximum efficiency.
Which 2021 Ford Bronco Sport trim should I buy?
The 2021 Ford Bronco Sport is offered in 5 trim levels: Base, Big Bend, Outer Banks, Badlands, and First Edition.
Here's the short version:
- Base trim: This is the most affordable entry point, but it lacks intelligent access with push-button start and does not get the available Co-Pilot360 Assist+ package. It also keeps the simpler cabin and wheel setup.
- Sweet-spot trim: Big Bend is the best value if you want a step up from Base without jumping too far in price. It keeps the 1.5-liter engine but adds more convenience and a better overall equipment balance.
- Premium/top trim: Outer Banks is the best choice if you want more comfort and tech, including heated and leather-wrapped steering wheel content and the 6.5-inch digital instrument panel. It also opens the door to more premium audio and camera options.
- Off-road trim: Badlands is the one to choose if you want the stronger 2.0-liter engine, the advanced 4x4 system, all-terrain tires, Trail Control, metal bash plates, and the most trail-ready setup for real off-road use.
Ford Co-Pilot360 comes standard on every trim, while Co-Pilot360 Assist+ is available on all trims except Base.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Ford Bronco Sport?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

What is the 2021 Ford Bronco Sport's resale value?
The current average of $20,924 sits slightly below last year's $23,252.
That price movement suggests the model has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future sellers if the market stabilizes. If you buy at the right price now, you may have less downside left than a buyer who paid closer to last year’s average. Strong demand for this model’s style and capability can also help support resale interest later.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.15/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2021 Ford Bronco Sport safe?
It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.
Ford Co-Pilot360 comes standard and includes pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, forward collision warning and dynamic brake support, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping assist, auto high-beam headlamps, and a reversing camera. Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist+ is available on all trims except Base, and it adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane centering, evasive steering assist, voice-activated touchscreen navigation, SiriusXM Traffic and Travel Link, and road-sign recognition, though road-sign recognition is not available on Big Bend. There are no crash-test ratings cited here.
Should I buy a 2021 Ford Bronco Sport or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2021 if:
- 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 10.01% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.15/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- After a long buildup, Ford finally made the 2021 Bronco Sport available for the media to test drive, and it proved to be a lively, capable, and attractive companion for on- and off-pavement adventures.
The bottom line: If you want the Bronco Sport’s first model year with strong capability, good owner satisfaction, and a softer used-car price than last year, the 2021 is the one to target. If you are especially price-sensitive, keep shopping the market for the best-equipped example in your budget and focus on condition, history, and trim fit rather than chasing the lowest sticker alone.
